This location was our first stop in Iceland and the perfect place to shake off our jet lag, hike the geo thermal hills, walk along the river to the little town center for great restaurants and relax in the hot tubs. There are robes and sandals in the room to wear to the pool, sauna & hot tubs. Breakfast was delicious and relaxing to dine and look up at the hills. We left early on check out day and the staff packaged breakfast for us to take with us on our drive. We picked it up the night before and refrigerated in our room. Everything was perfect.

The room was lovely, comfortable and clean, the location was beautiful, the food gorgeous, and the staff were extremely helpful, kind and friendly. My husband had a very painful back problem and they were so helpful and caring.

The only criticism that we had was that there was too little space (hardly any) for storing our clothes. There was nowhere to put our toiletries bags in the bathroom (we had to put them in the entrance hall, where on top of our empty suitcases) and nowhere really to put clothes, as we were at the hotel for 4 nights and wanted to unpack our suitcases. Simply the addition of more hooks would've improved this; both in the bedroom and the bathroom.

location. hot tub, room, (upgraded to superior room). the walk over the bridge is phenomenal. only realised on last day after checking out as only time we saw in daylight due to travelling on days out! staff extremely helpful.

refurb going on at the time of our stay. lack of a bar area but plenty of facilities in local town. breakfast could be replenished more, I understand the need not to waste but on our last day there were 4 couples eating at same time and non of the hot breakfast items were replenished

The location could not have been better. We were surrounded by mountains with several geothermal vents and it was out of the hustle and bustle of the main city, which my partner and I appreciated. Having the hot tubs and outdoor pool, along with the sauna was an amazing bonus and, being a small hotel, there was always space within the facilities.

The smell of sulphur at some times, but that's all over Iceland.

Relaxing natural hot springs tubs, beautiful river views, and also enjoyed the sauna. Quiet property, the natural sulfur smell was mild or cleared away with the breezes - certainly not a deal breaker. Nice breakfast included with stay, but dinner at the restaurant was delicious but expensive. Double/twin room was GREAT because each patio is private. Staff were very friendly! Easy & scenic walk (35 min o/w) to start the hike to Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River, but the hike is challenging with A LOT of hills. Door to door from the hotel with the hike was 9 miles on my pedometer.

It's harder to get here if you don't have a car, but not impossible. You will need to take the Flybus Iceland bus from the airport to Reykjavik, and then two city buses to Hveragerði. Second bus is either the 51 or 52 and only comes once hourly. From downtown Hveragerði, its about a 20+ min walk uphill to get to the hotel. Small country town so there aren't taxis around. Or you can pay a few hundred dollars USD for a private shuttle.

The main building - the restaurant has the best look, and the breakfast was rich. The hotel is located near a river - great to look at from the balcony or the hot tub, located near the smoking valley (Reykjadalur). Sitting in the hot tub in freezing weather was a unique experience.

The room was very small, it was hard to lock it with a key (fortunately no thieves in Iceland) and to set water temperature in the bath. The wind blow could be heard inside while it was snowing.

Plenty of room. great view. Super shower. Hot tub cleaned every day. Breakfast as fresh, tasty and generous. Food excellent. Very relaxed. Terrific location for touring main South West sites in Iceland. They offered to make up a breakfast for us to take since we were leaving at 04:00 am. Very thoughtful

There was nothing that we did not like. However, we would have preferred some wardrobe/drawer space.

The location is excellent on the Varma River near the hot springs

Very small room for a "double superior". Staff were not friendly and did not address a problem we had with the coffee maker. They acted like the hotel already received their hotel score and didn't have to try. Catered to a large bus group and did not focus attention on individual guests. The hotel is small and should consider the impact a large group has in that setting.

We had an issue with our rental car, and Marion from reception was a great help getting the issue resolved. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. We also loved the natural hot tub, heated pool, the private deck off our room, and the views overlooking the river. The restaurant was also quite lovely.

There was a bit of noise from opening and closing of doors at night.

it was gorgeous and amazing and Maria was super nice and helpful. the breakfast was delicious and my favorite of our whole time in Iceland. it’s a stunning property.

the room was tiny but was fine. I would suggest a few more hooks on the walls for ease of hanging coats ,towels and robes. the stand for hanging clothes wasn’t useful since the room was so tight you couldn’t really use it. we also had an unfortunate storm so couldn’t use the lovely hot tub or pool before we left.
