We stayed at the Frost and Fire hotel from the 28th December - 1st January. From the time we arrived until the time we left, the staff couldn't do enough for us. They were very friendly and approachable. Marianne even made us a packed lunch as we had to leave before breakfast for the airport. We really appreciated it. The views are breathtaking. We were very lucky that it snowed during the time we were there. The natural hot springs baths were an added special extra! We took a walk from the hotel up the mountain (the hotel will give you a route). We really recommend you do this! It took around 2 hours! We booked to go on a northern lights tour. You should definitely do this, but know it isn't guaranteed to see them. However, we saw the lights from the hotel on two evenings, so there is definitely a chance you can for that! The room was spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. We could see the sunrise every morning! Wow! The food needs to be mentioned. It was delicious and worth every penny. We had breakfast and an evening meal twice there. The Icelandic buffet on New Year’s Eve was amazing! Also the fireworks were out of this world! 🎆 We walked up the mountain path to see them and would definitely recommend you do that!

There wasn't anything we didn't like. The place is fantastic!

Location is amazing! Walking distance to the town with many places to eat. Surrounding area had very nice walking trails, waterfall, hot springs. Staff very nice, helpful and friendly. Geothermal Hot tub was AMAZING!!! So hot, very nice in cold weather. We even seen the Northern lights few night in a row🤩

Rooms can be improved. We’ve had no wardrobe so had to live out of luggages for 6 nights… shower pressure wasn’t great. Also, we’ve had few very windy nights and it was cold in the room, you could feel the wind and cold lying in bed… heating wasn’t great at all.

Stunning location next to the river with its own geothermal vent used for cooking some of the meals. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and upgraded our room for free. Very few guests when we stayed (late January), making it feel like we had the place to ourselves. The geothermal hot tub was fantastic and would be even better with a bit more illumination around it (although I appreciate this might detract from viewing the Northern Lights). There was a sauna and a 'relaxation' room, though we didn't use these. The food in the restaurant was absolutely superb, as it was everywhere we ate in Iceland. Don't miss a stroll up into the hills by crossing the footbridge over the river for a lovely view back over the hotel.

A kettle in the room would have been welcome - as it was we had to use the Nespresso machine for hot water to make tea. Not a deal breaker.

We were nervous on the drive in because of nearby construction, but the hotel is nestled along the river facing a gorgeous geothermal area and out of sight and hearing of the bulldozers, so we felt like we'd descended into a different universe. Walking trails straight from the hotel lead up to the geothermal vents, and it's seven minutes from our trip highlight, the Reykjadalur hot river hike. Felt like we could spend a whole 'nother vacation just in this valley. Our room (king bed, river view) was smallish but warm and clean, with heated tile floors, a mini fridge, and a lovely little balcony that came with an unexpected but welcome resident cat visit! The hot tubs are hot, gave us a perfect view of the Northern Lights over the mountains, and the sauna was a great way to dry off. The restaurant (Varma) served one of the best meals I've ever had. Truly phenomenal chef and barely anyone there during late March. The waiter went out of his way to provide a gluten free option for my wife, too. Excellent breakfast buffet as well. Oskar the staff masseuse is transcendently good, best massage my wife's ever had and delivered with care and compassion. Can't speak highly enough of him.

For the expense, which is boutique hotel price, there were some little facilities touches that were a bit disappointing. The room was a bit small and crammed with furniture. Our bath robes had tears and holes, presumably from a dryer. Some noticeably spackled holes in the bathroom wall. It seemed like they were renovating the room next door, so perhaps this is a work in progress!

Location was nice and rooms were nice with a balcony although it was snowing a bit so we could not use it. Everyone there was very nice but not alot of people were staying there so was very quiet.

Very pricy, not sure I think its worth the price. Also I did not realize the ENTIRE place would smell like farts all of the time. I guess thats on me for not realizing it sat right next to a geothermal hot spot. We had come from staying at a very nice hotel for 3 days a few blocks away but had loved the photos of this one so we wanted at least a night here. You don't smell it until you drive up the hill to where the hotel sits.

Beautiful spot with incredible hot tubs and stunning views. The breakfast was delicious, especially the warm, fresh bread. The tubs were the highlight of our stay.

We felt it was a bit expensive for what we were getting. Particularly, the house keeping. Someone came and took the trash, but they didn’t sweep the floor (which had a lot of salt and dirt and needed a clearing), make the bed, or restock the coffee area. If there weren’t the thermal hot tubs, we wouldn’t have found it to be worth the price.

Very nice location, along a river, Mountain View’s are amazing. Shared sauna and hot tub

We had the most expensive room BUT discovered that all the balconies are shared !! And there are three hot tubs with people just down your window. The room is a bit dirty honestly. The building looks old. And the smell of sulfur coming from the mountain that is bubbling with hot spring is really hard to handle has you will even smell it while in bed.

Good breakfast, not special, but good. Very good food at dinner.

Some of the staff had a very Icelandic service mind, meaning not much. Arrived 14.45 and was told we can't check in before 15.00 because the rooms are not ready. Seriously - will they all be ready in the next 15 minutes... We experienced this same service mind many places.

Our room was clean, view of the river and snow capped mountain was beautiful, bed comfortable and the amenities including hot tub and sauna were an added bonus that encouraged relaxation before a good night's sleep. I would highly recommend to anyone venturing between the nearby town of Selfoss and the Golden Circle. The attached restaurant was convenient, quaint and provided delicious meals. We ordered the lamb and salmon entrees and were very happy with our meals.

What I lOVED: Promixity to everything. Views, hottubs, spa, etc. hot springs, Staff, food. Staff What I liked: Rooms were nice, efficient and clean. The room we stayed in did not have any storage for clothing, room was tight. Blankets were Okay. I would have really liked to see some additional storage so I didn't live out of a suitcase.

I will leave this blank. I loved it all.
