I loved the caring and friendly nature of the staff. The check in staff member Pritha was super nice and provided complimentary beverages and cookies to us for having difficulty checking us in due to the key card server being down. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a wonderful view of Science City. We got a high floor on the 66th floor, so we could see the entire city. I also loved the happy hours at the Residents Lounge which had wonderful cocktails and snacks! The pool was also very beautiful and my daughter visited it every single day and absolutely loved it! The staff at the gym was very polite as well.

The breakfast items were a major disappointment, since the bakery items are very limited and the pork sausage was not grilled properly like it used to be. The staff on one side of the Grand Market Pavilion was very indifferent and did not ask us what we needed. The check in time also took long due to the key card server being down, so that wasted quite a bit of time. Also, since no kids are allowed in the gym, it becomes difficult for single parents to attend the gym, so some facilities should be provided for young children so that their parents can go to the gym.

Their food, ambience and mattress. Believe me, it's rare to find a comfortable mattress in luxury hotels. And do check out their highly exquisite restaurant "Avartana" if you enjoy fine dining. *chef's kiss*

-There was a little bit of confusion at the check-in about the room availability even though I had already informed (on call) them a day before about my check-in time and they assured me that the room would be ready but the problem was resolved as it got brought to the manager's attention. - They don't have shower gels but soaps. I understand the idea of using less plastic but we also know half-used soaps are thrown in tons every month from hotels around the world. Surprisingly, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion were in the plastic container.

the check in was totally unacceptable and waiting of 30 mins without anyone seeing as all are busy and the reception desk was u organized.

Wow, spectacularly luxurious hotel and accommodation. The staff were absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond to ensure I enjoyed my stay. A huge thank you to the housekeeping boys Abinash and Souvik who kept my room spotless and well stocked. Prashan in the salon worked a small miracle on my hair and made me feel a like a million dollars. Bed and pillows were the best and most comfortable I have ever slept in. The choices for the buffet breakfast were fabulous.

The cost of food and beverages. The pricing on these items was outrageous in the extreme. I had to pay out two to three times what I would have paid in a nice restaurant at home in Sydney, let alone in India. Almost 1000Rupees for a sandwich?! There was no chance of nipping out for some cheap food because there was nothing at all within walking distance. Also, there was a very limited room service menu for the Western palate, and the fresh fruit on offer was disappointingly poor quality and tasteless. I had expected to be able to access some of the gorgeous tropical fruits that are available in other Asian countries.

Excellent service, spotlessly clean. Lovely breakfast. Comfortable, well appointed rooms. Best thing were the courtesy calls during our stay, which surprised me and resolved little issues very quickly - eg. I was told on check in that there was no bathtub in my room as I expected there would be. As I was checking in again in a few days the reception told me one would be available then, but not before. A courtesy call on day two of my first stay resolved the problem in a flash when I said I was unhappy, and when I returned to the hotel on day two, I was moved to a room with a bathtub. It is this kind of service that sets this hotel apart.

The location is a little isolated for tourism... although everything is reachable by Uber or taxi.

Our luxury suite was spacious, white goods well provided in kitchen & all functional. Inclusive breakfast had nice array, loved their local flavors counter serving interesting Bengali preparations. Housekeeping proper. Room service can improve. It was raining so enjoyed more coming from Dubai.

Room service answering doesn’t help properly with confusing points about the menu. Takes too much time to deliver (40-45 minutes every order), so things like soups, kebabs, pizza etc comes lukewarm hence cannot taste as good as it could have been.

1. Size of room was exceptional. I am going to stay here in the future also 2. Breakfast layout and food quality was excellent 3. Pillows were very well matched and comfortable.

1. The corridors and many areas are a bit bare , stark and look like a government building. 2. There is no restaurant with an open area / section where one can smoke. You have to go to a smoking room. Some option should be there

After full board included at the time of booking showing & pre-approved taken from reception desk at check out time extra bill included. Therefore I raise my objections & they instantly waive off my extra charges.😕

Breakfast was exemplary. No shortcomings. The dinner buffet was fabulous. Elegant ambiance, nice food, and great views. True Five Star. I have been to most of the Taj Hotels in India and I would say that ITC Royal Bengal was comparable to them. Valet parking was smooth at both check-in and check-out. The lobby was extremely grand. All marble and warm lights. The room had a great evening and night view from the french window. The incoming and outgoing traffic at the EM Bypass was lovely to watch. I only missed a full-size window for extremely great views. Also, I had not that smooth check-In and Check-out but it might be my personal experience. Certainly, a great place to stay in Kolkata.

I requested a complimentary small cake in my pre-booking special request for my father's reunion celebration, but it was not provided. The welcome drink was mixed fruit juice but it was watery and icy. This can be improved. I felt the bathroom was slippery. The shower mat was missing. The bathtub handle was on the opposite side. The bathtub hand shower was also on the opposite side. These are Small shortcomings but can be improved. Pool Area Can be Improved. I expected an infinity pool at a hotel of this level. The pool was an enclosed space so no views outside. You can just see the hotel building from the pool.

I have been in many 5 star hotels around the world. But this was definitely the most luxorious I have ever been. The queen apartment was huge! The spa was amazing (own spa’s for women & men) and also the Italian restaurant and the Sky bar. Breakfast collection is beyond your all wishes. Anything what was missing in the room was just a phone call away and it was brought to you immediately.

During check in the receptionist was not welcoming. She didn’t greet us or acted like a receptionist in five star hotel should. She was willing to do all check in procedure only with my friend who is male. Even reservation was in my name and with my credit card. I’ve felt this was very old fashion, but it didn’t surprise me because I noticed that in many places we traveled around India, that women are not equal still in this country. But we had a good laugh from this because it was not even my husband, just my friend.
