ITC Sonar, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Kolkata

The breakfast was very good. The food in the Pavilion was excellent. Particularly, the Chicken tikka and Kasundi prawn as well as cold coffee are exceptional!! I would recommend that to everyone. The Indian world cup team was staying there at the same time as us and I really appreciate the security and crowd management executed by the hotel. It was flawless. It is a difficult balance to maintain when you are protecting the team and being trying to be polite and keep in-house guests in check.

I stayed in the executive suite which was a bit disappointing in size. But more importantly, the tv was very small, and no variety of channels. The TV should have been at least a smart tv with OTT access in this day and age.

The hotel is very luxurious. It is located in the midst of all the hustle, yet within its building confines, it feels calm and peaceful. Great hotel for family with young kids. There is a fish pond, and they provide fish food if you'd like to feed them. There are also some cute ducks hanging around the pond. Their breakfast buffet was OK. I was expecting more local Bengali dishes. There were so many South Indian dishes that I felt I was in ITC Chennai not Kolkata. This is one suggestion, please make Bengali cuisine the star of your breakfast buffet. The buffet spread is a little limited compared to other 5 star hotels we've visited around the world. The lunch buffet was limited too so we opted for the much larger buffet at the Royal Bengal. The two hotels are interconnected so can just walk down. Overall a great experience. The staff is courteous especially the gate guards always ready to open the car door for you and greet you with a namaste. Just one thing I thought would be worth mentioning, we had asked for a late check out and it was promptly confirmed but we still got calls post that asking us to check out at the original time. Might need to improve internal staff communication. Overall it was a fantastic experience.I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Neat and tidy rooms. Very good ambiance. Polite behaviour of staff.

I was inhouse guest from 15th April, 2023 to 18th April, 2023. On 15th April when I went to have lunch in the pavillion with 2 of my guests, I was asked whether I have booked a table. On my replying in negative I was told that they are sold. It was disgusting to know that. Does the hotel has a policy to keep the inhouse guests of the hotel hungry in liew of of serving food to outsiders and making some quick bucks ?? The inhouse guests, can not be denied entry in the hotel restaurant. There was no notice displayed that due to rush of Poila Baisakh, even the inhouse guests are also required to book table in advance.

BF was very good, less options for Non-veg though.

Inspite of requesting Hardbed and Nice view in my online booking notes, I was assigned almost closed view by tree and soft bed which is sinking. My friends with kids were given smoking rooms, However, after two nights of stay, we were moved to another New premise which really amazing, we could not enjoy that place as the following morning we have had to leave.

The Property is indeed one of the best ITC Hotels in the country (and much better than their adjoining sister hotel ITC Royal Bengal). The way WATER has been integratedand landscaped into the property is simply amazing. Its truly SERENE

1) This time around the Service was a little tardy (especially over bfast) 2) Some guests were allowed to keep their sports gear in the corridor of the 16th floor (just outside our room). That was truly disappointing. It lay there for all the FOUR days that I was there. And tho I complained, nothing came of it. It turned ITC into a Hostel dorm.

The room, service, amenities, property, staffs all were amazing.

The receptionist who proceed the check in was not efficient and took a very long time to give the room also was not able to find smoking room nd then ask charge for smoking room as he would upgrade it. Staffs who were assisting in breakfast could have been better, I feel they were not giving attention to all guests

Location close to the Airport is fine if you have activities close to New Town - good malls (axis) close by. Breakfast has an excellent spread, thoroughly enjoyed the food - some staff were a bit over-enthusiastic in serving which was the only little complaint if any. The ambience is fantastic, with the water and ducks/fish, and the rooms inside the lakes are a great place to relax during the day.

Just a small thing - common to many hotels in Kolkata - the cleaning staff don't clean out corners, curtains were dusty etc - somehow we got the feeling things being old (not in a bad way), but old still...

Beautiful property, with a pleasant staff. Plus points is green area, swamp or marshland area, trying to depict the Sunderbans WB i believe. Just stunning neat property.

With such a big name i felt (personally) They should include or at-least inform about the balcony/non balcony in the room. We didn’t got any, although they told us that we have upgraded your stay upon our checkin . No discounts on the spa services either for the staying guests.

I usually stay at ITC Sonar whenever I visit Kolkata and, as always, this stay in August didn’t disappoint either. It’s terrific to see the property up and running in its entirety for the first time since the pandemic (renovations ongoing when I last visited in Feb 2021). The room and service were excellent and the breakfast spread deserves a special mention.

The property recycles the water in koi pond area, I believe, and that creates a bit of a stink in the evenings. I don’t think there’s a resolution for this and given the importance of recycling a precious resource, I’m not sure one should view this as a negative. It’s worth mentioning, however, for future guests. Also, the service at breakfast is a tad chaotic and more feet at Pavilion after 8:30 would be helpful.

We liked the garden, and the path around it. i took my elderly parents for a walk and they loved it. And so did my young adult daughters, taking pictures with grand parents, creating beautiful memories.

Such a nice big area in the middle of a crowded city, yet so underused. Hardly saw anyone using the garden to relax or walk. Perhaps ITC Sonar can do promotion for Seniors at a low cost ( $ 100 per night) , they eat less too at the buffet, so no significant cost. I will definitely use that opportunity to give gifts to my parents or above 60 yr relatives. Just a thought.
