Il Canale Hotel

The reception personnel was super friendly and helpful. Very attentive. I also liked that it was just a few steps of the via dell Independenza and the Piazzo Maggiore. One can walk everywhere and, as I was attending the Children's Book Fair, it was also only a few minutes away from the bus stop for the bus 28.

My room was on the ground floor and the cleaning staff (?), some personnel who had to use the lift, was very noisy before 7am. Also, at night, at reception they had a very loud conversation outside my door, so that I had to tell them to quiet down.

Everything. The room was very spacious, cozy, confy beds, tv, tea, water. The bathroom was big and with soft towels and mini sets for shower. We stayed at the top of the building and had access to a terrace where we could look down on the canal. The breakfast was just perfect, enough choices and very good. We also liked the staff, at reception they speak english very well and were very nice. They cleaned our room every day.

Only one thing, but i don t think it s about the place itself. We encountered some noisy floor mates, so the problem would be that is not really well sound proofed, you can hear everything. Other than that, nothing to complain about.

It was cosy and staff were friendly. The location was great for visiting the old town very close to a main shopping street. Breakfast was nice with good italian coffee, cheeses, meats and pasties as well as fruit, yoghurts and cereal. Single room was small but well equipped and nicely decorated. The fridge was great to have with the hot weather.

No bread rolls to go with the meats and cheeses at breakfast. The single room was a little small: not much room for storing a suitcase but otherwise good.

The people make the difference! The personnel were super attentive and polite despite the fact that I only stayed one night. I was also able to leave my luggage there for several hours after checkout. The room, the linen and the bathroom were clean, as well as the hotel's common spaces. There is a nice retro feeling about the hotel that I enjoyed. The single room I stayed in had a twin bed, a window, a mini fridge and a safe and was very spacious. It was also very quiet, but I may have been lucky because I noticed that the sound isolation between rooms was not very good. Most importantly however, there was no street noise. The location is optimal, as the hotel is situated in a quiet alley in the historical center, just a brief walk from all the important attractions. The hotel offers buffet breakfast for a reasonable price, however it was not very rich and I didn't go for it. Overall highly recommended, especially for short stays and if the mattresses are better in other rooms, would be ok for long stays as well.

The mattress was not the most comfortable. Furthermore I couldn't get the room to be completely dark, as the shutter wouldn't close and the curtains were not very thick.

The breakfast was great and the location is perfect

The walls were too thin, the sound/voice isolation between rooms were poor.

- The room was of a good size for the central location. (5 min walk to the centre, 10 to station) - Wifi works fine on the second floor in room 21. - Breakfast is between 07h30 - 09h30 with good selection. Italian breakfast - Fridge and kettle in the room was a nice touch - Daily cleaning and friendly staff

I generally like my stay but some improvements can be made: - More electrical sockets in the room would be good. - Air conditioning takes quite some time to cool. - Coffee machine at breakfast does not work so you have to ask the staff for a cup each time.

Good breakfast. A very good location of Bologna, close to the train station. The staff was very helpful and nice.

I could hear the neighbour coughing... The bed could have been a little bit better.

The location of The hotel,close to the City center. Great staff. Good breakfast. Very clean room with everything necessary inside. Even if we stayed at The hotel for one night only we enjoyed very much our stay. Although close to the City center there were no any disturbing noises.

The heat system didn't work and it was very Cold during the night. The position of The TV, it was impossibile to watch TV from the bed as it is positioned on one side of The room.

This hotel is exceptionally well located for the historic centre. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room (number 10) was perfectly clean and quiet and had a fascinating canal view. We don't tend to have breakfast in hotels Italy, as there are always so many nice cafes around, so can't comment about the hotel breakfast.

The shower was a bit small and some people could find it a tight space. A couple of comfy chairs in the room would be welcome.

What a sweet hotel we found in Bologna. Spent 4 nights. The staff was helpful, friendly, and good personalities. The hotel is unique, which we enjoyed - definitely had character - in a good way. The room was quiet. The breakfasts were wonderful - coffee made to order, good breads and croissants, eggs, meat/cheese, yogurt, fruit. Perfect start to the day. There is so much to see in Bologna, and this hotel is close to all attractions. just a 5-10 min walk away from Neptune's Fountain. Restaurants are plentiful! Really good restaurants! Food is what Bologna is all about!
