All of the staff were so welcoming and helpful. Communication was superb from well before we arrived. We were able to store two suitcases for 5 days while we toured Sicily which made our medium sized hire car more manageable for 4 people. Thank you Antoine who assisted so kindly. The charming gentleman on reception in the evening gave us a great suggestion for a nearby family run seafood restaurant and he was nice to talk to (English) when we took the E25 shuttle to the airport. The breakfast was amazing with eggs, toast, ham, cheese, cereals, cappuccino or latte. Many thanks especially to the lovely girl in the breakfast room -so kind and welcoming. The room was absolutely beautiful in traditional style, high ceilings and gorgeous patterned tile floor.

Unfortunately our room was above a bar in a laneway that played loud music on a Thursday night until midnight. The shower didn’t have a screen at front so water spilled over the floor.

The property is historical which I love. The room was huge with a modern bathroom. The breakfast in a quiet garden area was continental style but the best was the amazing coffee and the lovely lady who made each order. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was very good for sightseeing and had a fantastic street of restaurants only steps away - a fun area in the evenings.

There was some street noise from nearby restaurants which didn’t bother us but may be unpleasant for lighter sleepers.

Breakfast was good. I wanted eggs and meat, which is probably not common in Italy, but this hotel got enough choices. Also the caciocavallo cheese was a nice addition. My room was spacious, the corridors have nice paintings to look at. Staff is very friendly, I could get as much espressos for and after breakfast as I wanted. All in all it was comfortable enough, and very clean.

The floor has no carpets, so it's cold to walk on without slippers. Spring mattresses could be more comfy but are good enough. I couldn't get hot water in the shower at around midnight, which would have been very appreciated, since this is when I was able to arrive. With the room being big enough, same cannot be said about the wardrobes. It would be hard for more than 2 people to put their stuff away. I booked 2 rooms, the other one was a single room, around 4e cheaper, but was way smaller and contained a double bed, so even for a single person it covered a lot of space and my friend couldn't comfortably put away stuff and move around the room at the same time.

I really liked the location, downtown but very quiet inside. We had a beautiful little balcony! Hotel is close to a beautiful little restaurant district! Was easy access and convenient. Hotel staff arranged a taxi to the airport for me and my sister on the morning of our departure. Hotel breakfast was outstanding! Loved the little outside courtyard to eat our breakfast in. The freshly made espresso was delicious and appreciated. Very nice lady working the breakfast counter. Hotel staff were super friendly!

Most amazaing staff! Special thanks to Antoine who made sure we had a warm welcome and comfortable stay! The rooms are very clean and spaceous. The hotel is in an ancient Palazzo on the second floor. There is a beautiful patio in the courtyars where you can enjoy the italian breakfast (good coffee!). The location is very central, you are close to both the main shopping street as well as the main sights of Catania. Everything can be reached by foot in 15min. Public parking is available on the side streets.

I cannot fault anything - the staff were really friendly, the room was clean and decorated very nicely, the bed was really comfortable, and the location is excellent. I’d really recommend people to stay at this hotel!

The only fault is that the shower has a shower curtain instead of a solid door. Water gets out easily and floods near the shower. Cleaners come to the room everyday to clean, so it never gets bad, but there should be a more permanent solution. That said, this isn’t a big deal.

The staff was so kind, and so friendly. Even helped us park in a very narrow space that would have been considered impossible by US standards. haha.

Nothing. I would like to add a note though, that the parking that is provided is one maybe two spaces in a gated driveway in a tiny alley. Great for leaving car there and exploring Catania by foot which we did. Might recommend seeking out a different parking lot if you need daily car access.

We scheduled our stay late in the day after missing a flight back to the US. Luckily for us, we located the Umberto House, which only had one room available. The gentleman at the front desk was fabulous. He was a wealth of knowledge that helped us negotiate Catania better. He claimed that his English was poor but we were able to communicate with him without any trouble. The breakfast, which is included, was very nice and included coffee(s), teas, juice, water, assorted pastries, meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs,…I’m certain that I’m leaving things out but I trust that you understand that there were many options. The Umberto House is located in a perfect area that allows for easy walking to anything that you will want to do….shopping, eating establishments, gelato, granita, pastries, pizza and a lot of other fine dining restaurants. The Umberto house has a shuttle but we had to leave early (4:30 a.m.) to go to the airport. The shuttle was not operating at that time so they arranged for a taxi to pick us up. The taxi was on time and only cost us $25 euro to the airport. The shuttle was the same price. In closing, you cannot got wrong by choosing to stay at the Umberto House . it’s been a great stay here, location perfect of course, the staff here extra considerate, they will allow us go to room settle down first while they processing the paperwork, that’s sweet, isn’t it? the breakfast table just looks like instagram with plates decorated with salami and ham flowers. also recommend the shuttle service to airport, cheaper than taxi and so convenience 🙏 totally exceeded my expectations!

The staff at this property were amazing. We booked this hotel last minute because e our flight was cancelled. They welcomed us right away. Our flight was diverted to leave from Comiso airport. They arranged a car to pick us up and drive us. They helped make the best out of a somewhat stressful situation. We were very grateful!!
