Hotel Ossidiana Stromboli Center

Fabulous location ideal for dropping off any luggage on arrival without the need to get a taxi (tuc tuc/golf type cart) ) or drag you bag through narrow hot streets! But also great for accessing rest of the island and a short walk to the start of any hikes up Stromboli. The hotel was very happy for us to leave our luggage before and after check in and check out times which made things a lot easier. The room was very comfortable with air con included and there was a very good shower which was well needed after our sunset hike up the volcano. Breakfast was fabulous with a huge variety and quantity of food.

Nothing really although be aware that bars etc seem to close quite early in that part of the town. Not really an issue but worth knowing. Whilst corridors were a bit noisy with doors closing etc in the afternoon this was not a problem at all in the evening or overnight and we had a very peaceful night.

Loved the friendliness, the proximity to pier and beach, the style and especially the breakfast buffet. At the center of all activities around Stromboli. We loved our boat tour for sunset aperitivo in Ginostra and volcanic stargazing with Luca as we were recommended.

This is off the beaten track, a small island village without water station so don't expect to arrive in a downtown 5 star hotel. My negative is only to remind you to have appropriate expectations, we loved it. Ah also our son was stung by a sea creature on the beach, probably a jellyfish. He didn't like it... so be careful.

The hotel has a separate room to serve breakfast with a great deal of choice. The staff really didn’t make an effort to explain our different options or how to work the coffee machine to get a cup of tea. Due to the fact we only spoke English

We had to change rooms as the first room was an apartment with separate kitchen area. Which was nice but no wifi. Which we needed to have. We got changed to just a small hotel like room which was fine but didn’t realise until our last day that it had a fridge built into the bedside table. We haven’t seen the small sign and the girl didn’t point it out. It would have come in handy had we realised.

The location was perfect - a few minutes walk from where the ferry arrives (you can see the hotel when you step off the ferry) and there is a ticket office for the ferry and a small shop right next door. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was excellent - a really big choice. The staff were amazing - before I arrived they answered all my questions promptly regarding tours etc and when I arrived they continued to arrange everything for me. The room was clean and comfortable and I felt safe and secure. No problem to leave your luggage with reception if you have a late departure.

There was nothing I did not like but fellow travellers should be aware that most of the rooms are upstairs and there is no lift so if you have a heavy suitcase or have a problem with stair climbing you need to be aware of this.

The room was spacious, and it showed a little bit Eastern (Indian) style, which was great, and a balkon faced to the sea, so I could hear the voice of the waves, when I was sleeping.

There were a few mosquitos at night, which was a little bit uncomfortable, but mosquitoes are everywhere except of the far North. So if you close the window this problem will be solwed

We have used Ossidiana multiple times for our visits to Stromboli, It is a great location for exploring the town of San Vincnezo, Its a little far from the start of the volcano climb but is close to the local restaurants. Overlooking the bay at the front and the volcano at the rear, A great place to be

Great location next to the ferry. We had a large clean and colourful bedroom on the top floor with its nice comfy balcony and a stunning view on the sea and beach (east side orientation). This included double window glass so we did not hear anything at night. In the morning, the breakfast buffet is taken a few meters away from the hotel in a large and very bright room. It was delicious with a large variety of dishes (including local specialties) and fruits. With a machine offering all kinds of hot drinks. Overall a great place for a great stay! I really recommend and would come back with no hesitation.

Nothing really. Maybe I would just add orange juice at breakfast. But the buffet was great.

The location is fantastic, especially for short stays. Right by the port, and walking distance to the village, the shops and the restaurants as well as nearby beaches. The onsite cafe is really great, with fantastic, friendly service (the ladies at the bar and reception are all super nice). The breakfast is so good, the most incredible selection of savoury bakes (I wish they had them for lunch!),the coffee is not good but everything else spot on (those cups with whipped ricotta and fruit!). Free and fast wifi and possibility to hang out during the day while waiting for a late ferry (with outdoor shower) was welcome.

The price of the room was high (it is august and it's Stromboli, so in line with the location but still one of the most expensive 3* I have even been to). No bidet in the bathroom was strange for Italy and disappointing. Other guests making loads of noise at night (slamming doors) but not the hotel's fault of course

Perfect location - a two minute walk to the ferry terminal, a two minute walk to the black beach, and a few minutes up the hill take you to where the action is. A nice and comfortable room, with a wonderful patio overgrown with greenery, with the volcano lurking through the flowers... The breakfast is truly wonderful, with a great selection of pastries, both sweet and savoury dishes, and, not so typically for Sicily (in our experience), a very decent selection of fruit and veg. Pavlova is the cherry on top of the whole breakfast affair! 💗 The reception will helpfully book Osservatorio dinner for you, really worth it if you don't either climb the volcano or get the boat trip to see the eruptions. However, it's quite a walk (a good half an hour) to where the shuttle starts... One thing I didn't like was the position of the aircon, with direct airflow onto one of the beds. On the other hand, it was very efficient.

This is the main hotel on Stromboli, on the seafront close to the ferry pier, and deserves its good reputation. Our room was clean and comfortable with a view to the shore. The staff were friendly and helpful even at peak times. In advance, we had asked if they could reserve places for us on a trek up the volcano soon after our arrival and dinner at the Osservatorio afterwards, and they did this efficiently. Breakfast was a splendid buffet, in an adjacent large dining room with panoramic view of the shore.

In the weeks and days before our stay, the hotel repeatedly sent messages urging us to check in online and pay in advance: this was unnecessary, as our booking thru Booking.com guaranteed that we would pay on arrival. However they didn’t insist. [A routine issue for them may be that we, like other guests, arrived on the ferry at 16:10 and needed to check in for a volcano trek before 17:00.) The only disappointment was the volcano itself, which was inactive on some days! But the island is well worth visiting anyway.
