What a hidden gem of a hotel! The villa is located in the Tuscan hills 30 mins or so from Lucca. If you are looking for fresh air, sunshine, peace and relaxation, look no further. The hotel is absolutely spotless and has been tastefully and sympathetically decorated and restored. Our bedrooms were absolutely enormous with huge, comfortable beds, fabulous wardrobe space, a separate seating area complete with desk. We each had an extremely generous bathroom with a shower and separate bath. The view from the rooms and from the pool and terrace across the valley is just gorgeous, it's impossible not to sit, stare and drink it all in. But enough about the facilities, the best thing about Hotel Villa Casanova must certainly be the staff who are all welcoming, friendly and have lots of recommendations about where to go and what to do. My one tip would be to hire a car on arrival as the hotel is located in a quiet rural setting and taxis are very expensive in Italy. Several reviews mention the food at the hotel. We ate breakfast every day at the hotel and had lunch and dinner there on several occasions. We were delighted to hear that the hotel sources it most of its fruit and vegetables from the small-holding next door and certainly we found that was very fresh and tasty and the portion sizes were perfect.

The Villa is in a stunning location with large, comfortable suites and a beautiful swimming pool. Breakfasts were excellent with a different selection each day. The staff are particularly welcoming and helpful and I felt like I was a guest in a private home.

Due to the location in the hills, it is necessary to either have a car or to use taxis. With limited taxis in and around Lucca this was a little stressful.

beautiful views, quiet and relaxing. wonderful personal amenities (shower gel, shampoo, body lotion etc) Loved the spacious glass shower with amazing water pressure!

We noticed a bad smell from the shower drain area - like a sewer back up odor. Especially noticeable if windows were closed. Dinner menu/quality could be improved on. Nothing special.

A stunning hotel with absolutely fantastic rooms and the staff were brilliant. The food in the restaurant was fresh and tasty, although a limited menu. Stunning location with fantastic views.

Minor details but the property is a little bit remote if you do not have your own transport and there are no local amenities, shops, cafes, restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Beautiful pool, large room (we had a separate smaller lounge room), massive bathroom. I loved how we met the lady who cooked our dinner. Breakfast had a wonderful variety for a small hotel.

It was in the middle of nowhere! We only stayed one night, and unfortunately it was raining so we couldn’t sit by the pool. We went for a walk. Maybe if we were staying longer we would have done more research into where we else could have gone.

amazingly large rooms, we had a vast bedroom and bathroom and reception room, it was bigger than our apartment back home! had everything you could need. loved the free standing bath and 4 poster bed. and great breakfast and very helpful friendly staff. we did a cycle which we loved and the hotel organised it for us.

when the sun was out the place was beautiful, gorgeous pool area and gardens. but without the sun there wasn’t much space inside the hotel to chill, could have done with a bigger indoor restaurant. location is 20 mins from Lucca by car so you need a car.

The hotel setting was absolutely magnificent. Rooms were beautifully proportioned and spacious . The pool, breakfasts and lunches were fabulous and entirely suited and in keeping with what this hotel offers. Stand out for us were the staff -their attentiveness, hospitality and genuine customer service was second to none. We loved every aspect of our time at Villa Casanova and would definitively return.

Stinky bugs (about 20 I caught in 4 days) but since the room had direct approach to the garden and the forest which was very nice - this could be expected

The Villa is set in acres of lush greenery and the view of the castle from the infinite pool is spectacular. What a treat in a hot July day to swim at 7:00 and breakfast on the terrace. We were very lucky to be treated to home made limoncello aperitif with a lovely dinner. Thanks Michelle for all your kindness!
