Antica Locanda Leonardo came highly recommended by Rick Steves’ Italy guidebooks; and it did not disappoint. Located on Corso Magenta, this family-run hotel is steps away from Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper, 7 min walk to Cadorna train/metro stations, and easily connected to Duomo by the tram #16, that stops across the road. Easy walking distance to monastery of St. Ambroggio; Church of St. Maurizio with breathtaking frescos by Luini, often called “ Sistine Chapel of Milan”, and La Scala/ Duomo. Hotel occupies part of a beautiful 19th-century building, surrounding the quiet courtyard; locked gate keep the noise of the city away. Air con, elevator, beautiful antique furniture, comfy beds, tea/coffee maker in the room. Delicious breakfast could be enjoyed in the delightful common areas inside or in the garden. Hotel staff recommended us superb place for dinner, filled with locals to bursting and run by another family. We felt so lucky to get in there.

2 nights were not enough

Beautiful Boutique Milanese Hotel I booked Antica Locanda Leonardo for three nights as a surprise for my girlfriend. Not knowing anything about Milan I chose this hotel as it looked clean and had a generally good central location. We were absolutely blown away by this little gem of a hotel. The hotel is situated a stones throw from Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper and nearby Santa Maria delle Grazie. It is one of UNESCO's World Heritage sites. The hotel is situated in a picturesque courtyard with a rear garden and outdoor seating patio. The reception is lovely and intimate with a beautifully decorated lobby and lounge area (where breakfast is served also, there is also a small bar area). The decor was very aesthetically pleasing and felt very much like a contemporary rustic boutique hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and in particular a lovely male concierge member gave us a lunch recommendation of a nearby pizza restaurant which was 10/10. The room was ready early which was a great surprise after having traveled early in the morning. The room was spacious and clean and decorated very nicely. In particular, the bathrooms were very nice and modern with very good powerful showers. We found the hotel to be always cozy also. We had turn down service each day. We were also allowed to leave out luggage in reception following check out as we had a late evening flight on our last day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would 100% recommend it.

Great area-an Italian friend said it's the Beverly Hills of Milan. Do look around the neighborhood-there are nice places and it's close to the wonderful Sforza Castle and close enough to Duomo and Navigli neighborhood to walk or take trams. Good breakfast with enough choices over 3 days and made to order coffees, not machines by nice staff. Good staff-the breakfast waiter had a great jazz playlist and Daniel was very helpful. Nice garden for breakfast although the chairs aren't so comfortable.

Not sure why but we didn't love this hotel. I would stay in this area again, but probably not here. The room seemed cramped and dated. One of the lights didn't work and housekeeping didn't know how to fix it. For the "superior room price we paid there was a "private garden" that we didn't use-mosquitos and not really comfortable. There is construction on-site, altho there wasn't a lot of noise while we were there.

Location was great! We could get everywhere with the red metro line. We were also very close to Santa Maria Delle Grazie. We were in a room with a small balcony overlooking the inner courtyard. Bathroom amenities were of a great quality. Frankly, I found discomfort from metro noise mentioned in the comments, quite unnecessary. The hotel staff was really helpful, but especially the breakfast staff was very friendly. I think hotel breakfast is not praised enough. There is more than what is seen in the pictures. Thanks everyone for a pleasant stay.

Nothing really

This boutique hotel was beautiful. It really was perfect. I chose a place a little outside of the city center because I wanted a bigger bed and little more beauty. This nailed it. The breakfast was an add on to the the room or €13 if you just wanted it once or twice. The location was QUIET! Not too much going on in the area but very pretty and peaceful. It’s also on the same block as the Last Supper painting and there is a trolly that runs directly in front of it. 9 minute walk to the Cordona train station and a good 11 minute walk to the “subway”. My only complaint was that there wasn’t a full length mirror in the room. That is literally my only complaint! Beautiful place!

I was a little lost getting back into the hotel at night when they close the front gate for the first time. I guess I wasn’t listening or it wasn’t explained well enough to me. The “gate” looks like a big giant door with a cute little door that opened from it. It took me a hot minute to figure it out after walking around the whole block once to look for the “gate”. The area is VERY quiet. And you will do a lot of walking to and from this hotel.

Staff were friendly, helpful and available. The hotel was small but no surprise as is listed as a boutique hotel. The room and bathroom were were clean and in good condition. It felt unique and not part of a hotel chain which is a good thing.

It was a little tricky as we arrived when the outside doors were locked. We had to use the entryphone to enter and then it wasn't clear which door to go to across the courtyard.

Great location. Walking distance from the Metro at Cordona. Clean rooms. Friendly staff.

Upon arrival we were advised breakfast was included, we queried this as we had not booked breakfast so therefore questioned it, we were told it was included. At checkout we were charged 12 euro pp, when we queried this they said we needed to ensure we check our booking next time, we pointed out we were aware we hadn't booked breakfast but were told twice it was now included. They discounted to 6 euro pp however it was an awkward conversation and we probably would have had breakfast out on some days had we known we were actually being charged. The breakfast was nice but was the same each day.

The location, which is off the street and separated by a courtyard, was ideal, one block from The Last Supper if you are lucky enough to score tickets. Easy walking through neighborhoods to Sforzesco Castle (don’t miss Michelangelo’s Pieta!) and a longer walk to the Duomo. Our junior suite was comfortable, spacious, quiet and relaxing, with a small balcony. Worth the extra cost as we were just arriving after a long flight from California. Taxi from Linate was arranged and included! The breakfast buffet is an amazing value, with espresso drinks made for you and so much to choose from! And the staff! All were so helpful! Emilio arranged dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant frequented by more regular locals than tourists. Paolo helped us get started, called taxis, and took excellent care of us as well.

The location was perfect for us! We had a early morning walking tour starting at the Last Supper just a few feet away! There was a tram stop, market, bar, & restaurant all very close. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The air conditioning was awesome in our room!!

Our floor squeaked! But old wood floors do that! The garden was lovely, but Milan has a lot of mosquitoes in the warm weather! So make sure you get spray.

March 2023

Breakfast was excellent, variety of pastries ,cold cuts and cheeses and tasty scramble eggs. Specialties coffees made to order delicious. The bed was firm and VERY comfortable, comforter very good. Room was spacious, high ceiling, hardwood floors, large modern bathroom, closet space. Very quiet since our room was in the back after the main structure and back courtyard, felt restful. Close ( half block) to Sta Maria Della Grazie. Welcoming staff, personal experience, hospitable breakfast staff. Left our luggage after check out to tour the place.

Small room safe was not bolted, deafeating its purpose ( we had to carry the documents and valuables with us). Bathroom vent was very weak. Hallway to room musty smell ( did not affect the room). Room Ac did not turn on ( late March weather did not require it fortunately) when turned on so left windows open at night (first floor)
