Starhotels Michelangelo Rome

I along with my friend stay at Michaelangelo almost every year. We started with a Tour and have since returned on our own. The location, is perfect while touring Vatican City and easy access to trains, busses to travel around Rome. It's always our base point to leave to other areas throughout Italy. Being able to store our luggage while doing short trips is also a great aspect.

We were surprised by the front desk/ concierge. They weren't as pleasant as in past. Especially as on entered and exited. Never greeting. I also, made notes on your site 'Special Request'. I suffer 'severe' animal, Goose feather & down allergies. My rooms throughout all the check-in had Goose feather & down. I suffered terrible rash on my face. These request need to be passed on to the Hotel. I also requested twin beds, 3 out if 4 beds were not separated. Hola

The staff were all incredibly helpful, very efficient, and super friendly; most spoke English as well. Everything was very clean, and the beds and bedding very comfy. Having a refrigerator is so convenient, and there's a supermarket right around the corner to stock up on water, etc. The kettle came in very handy for our tea drinker; we bought supplies at the market and made it right in the room (tea's hard to come by in Italy).

The room was too warm, with no AC. Opening the window helped, but let bugs in and was too loud to leave open overnight. The shower was great, but the shower wall too short and leaky, ending with water on the bathroom floor.

location was fantastic - close to restaurants and St. Peters square/Vatican.

Since covid rules are changing all the time in Italy, I would have liked the hotel to reach out to me prior to my arrival to let me know that I had to have a covid test or green pass in order to check into hotel. I had to scramble when I arrived to get a covid test just to check into hotel.

The breakfast every morning was exceptional. The hotel is located in walking distance to the Vatican City. We used taxi’s to get to the city centre, which was quite accessible. Rome city centre is really busy, so it was nice to come back to a calm location at night. What stood out most for me about the hotel was the staff. The customer services was good. But in particular, Philip M. at the front desk. Every single day went the extra mile to make sure customers experienced an exceptional standard of service. This is a unique and extraordinary talent! I hope that the company recognise his skills!

I honestly thought the hotel had a pool, so was a little disappointed when it turned out they didn’t. But this could have been an oversight on my part having looked at several hotels prior to booking.

The location of this hotel is amazing. We are a family of 4 and we were very comfortable in two rooms joining. The shower water pressure was awesome! We had a lovely view of St Peter’s Basilica from our balcony. Shops and restaurants around the hotel were wonderful! Friendly and safe area. Quiet at night, moderately busy area during the day. Easy walk to the Vatican. The hotel is very clean. We arrived early and we were able to check in right away. Bob at the front desk was very helpful. We would absolutely stay again and recommend.

Fantastic location for the Vatican. We had a little balcony and you could just see St Peter's Dome if you leaned over. We booked a family room and they gave us two adjoining rooms which was perfect and meant we had two bathrooms. It was also really clean. We discovered they have bidets in the bathrooms when our son announced that he had already washed his feet in the footwasher :)

Breakfast was really busy on the first morning (Sunday 9:30 am). They had run out of cups, plates, glasses and some food items. Staff were doing their best to replenish but some customers were getting annoyed and it was extra stress for our first morning. On other mornings we made an effort to go down a bit earlier and it was fine.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel from the warm welcome at the beginning by a staff who never failed to help, engage and appear very keen that we have the best possible experience. The Monastery has been beautifully renovated, with a sympathetic awareness of its history and its position overlooking Tuscany is quite breathtaking. Breakfast was delicious and served in the oldest part of the hotel complete with remains of original frescoes. The coffee was the best we’ve had in Italy! We hope to return with family as soon as we can.

Excellent location, view of the Basilica of St. Peter. The hotel has its own parking lot. A walk to the centre took 15 minutes.

The hotel cleaners disturbed, were noisy and entered the rooms despite the notice "do not disturb". The temperature in the room was very low thanks to the air conditioning (it could not be turned off or regulated), so I recommend packing warm pajamas even in the summer.

The Michelangelo was in a perfect location and a short walk to St. Peter’s Basilica. Also, really liked that the breakfast was included and we could start our day at a leisurely pace.

The only problem was we were supposed to have a free taxi from the airport to the hotel. The link never worked and we had to pay 65 euros for the ride. More a problem with Booking.com than the hotel.

I like the hotel and the location in front of the Vatican. There are nice restaurants closed by. You can walk to go to the city centre. The city was very charming and authentic.

When we arrived in the room, they set it up for 1 person, and we were two. Our door room couldn't lock, and they couldn't fix it right away, but they offered us a different room.
