My favourite stay on Hokkaido, out of 12 different accommodations over a month. Very lovely staff, warm and welcoming, yet professional service at all times. Great food. Evening meals were an excellent variety of courses each evening and thoughtful alternatives cooked for my shell fish allergy without resorting to tofu! At breakfast, I think their environmental friendly efforts to reduce use of bowls and plates should be praised. Our own M&S has done away with saucers! Great location, short 2 minute walk from bus stop (take bus 66 from halt stop no 9 outside Asahikawa station, get return tickets from vending machine with English instructions or pay on bus. Only 3 buses/day so check times) 10 minute walk to excellent visitor centre with info and displays on Mt Asahidake and from ropeway access to mountain. Lovely onsen and can also use onsen at sister hotel up road which has sauna. Lovely spacious, warm room, very clean and comfortable, great mountain views . Large lounge area on 1st and 2nd floor. Very peaceful and relaxing. In Sapporo now and missing it already!
I wouldn’t change a thing, not even the ‘rude’ man on reception some reviews mentioned. I think it’s just the way he has learned his English phrases :)

First off the location is easily reachable by bus, Asahidake is just up the road. The Onsen was amazing. Our room was big. Breakfast was good and consisted of a couple different foods is was the same every day, although I thought spicy curry with a chicken thigh to be a tad weird for breakfast. Dinner was truly amazing, compliments towards the chef and kitchen team. Don't be a picky eater! you get an amazing 4 course meal like everyone else.
Our toilet was permanently flushing when sat on. The shower in the room never got warm. Which didn't matter to us because of the Onsen, so we just washed there.

Proximity (2 mins drive) to the National park. This hotel is more reasonably priced than the hotels closer to the entrance of the National park. Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable.
At the time of our visit, the onsen was not available. However, a substitute was offered at the sister hotel that is within walking distance. Very limited selections (no options) for breakfast and dinner. For dinner, only entree offered was beef which some of us did not eat.

One of the nicest looking buildings I saw in Hokkaido. Great location away from the road, and backed by trees. Evening meals were delicious.
The so-called western style/American breakfast - it was a mush-mash of curry (!), meat, fruit, croissant etc. all on one plate. The reason for the latter was given as environmental - yet at the same time disposable toothbrushes were delivered to my room each day. Greenwashing …

The room is quite new and urban style.
They changed our hotel to Bear Monte hotel a week before our trip. They should remove the booking service from Booking.com if it is out of service due to renovating the whole hotel.
