this ‘hostel’ massively exceeded my expectations . The shared common area is much more like something you would find in a decent hotel! Fantastic kitchen facilities (but make sure you bring your own food as no shops in the National Park) . The outside onsen is one of the nicest I have used in Japan. The location is stunning , nestled in nature . The visitors centre is a 15 min walk up the road and hires snow shoes and cross country skis for a really good price (500 yen a day!) . Our bedroom was warm and comfortable with a private toilet

Breakfast is 2 pieces of toast with jam and free coffee and tea, facilities are great especially the kitchen and onsen which were very spacious. It’s a big building because it used to be a hotel, so it’s nicer than most hostels
On the third floor which I stayed, there is only one girl’s bathroom which was far from my room and the light was motion activated so it sometimes would turn off while I was inside and wouldn’t turn on until I left the stall. Maybe a private room with a toilet would have been better. Also for the dorm room, it would be nice if there were curtains or a little more privacy, it was okay because the room was never full, but if the room was full, next time maybe I would get a private room. There is a 250 yen onsen charge per person per night paid during checkin which adds to total price of the stay

I love especially how self sufficient this hostel is. I was a little bit worried when I did the booking, knowing that it was located in the middle of a mountainous area with no access to any restaurants, cafes, supermarkets …etc. But with a little bit of planning, this stay became the highlight of our 10 days trip in Hokkaido! The hostel came with a full kitchen. And I’m not kidding. We can really whip up a feast! The Onsen is good and I enjoyed soaking in it after a long hike in the mountain. It’s a great place to interact and make new friends. All in all, it’s an exceptionally great hostel experience. I’ll definitely be back here again on my next trip to asahidake.

Perfect affordable spot for Mt. Asahidake access. It was a bit of a walk to the ropeway station but anything closer would have cost a lot more. The staff was knowledgeable about Daisetsuzan National Park. The nice onsen added to the quality, especially after a long hike. I recommend getting food at a grocery store in Asahikawa before taking the bus here, as their food selection is understandably sparse and there is no nearby grocery store. There is a full kitchen to make meals in.

Amazing Location- You get a view of Mount Asahidake from your room. Also, the road leading to the property is beautiful with many animals. We saw deer crossing and multiple Japanese Raccoon dogs on our way to and fro. Helpful staff- we left our water bottle at the hotel. They sent it through Yamato to our next hotel. Spacious room and kitchen and condiments are provided. They also provide two huge slices of bread with jam every day. Value for money. Highly recommended for a budget stay in the area.
The bathroom was a bit too small. Since, the concept is of a hostel, it works fine but it was a little too compact for us.

It is conveniently located near Mt Asahidake ropeway, about 15 mins walk away. A quiet comfortable and cozy hostel with a well equipped kitchen. There is no eatery nearby but you can buy your own groceries and cook your food there. The onsen was malfunctioning when I was there but I was given onsen vouchers to another hotel nearby which was really nice. Breakfast (two slices of bread with jam/coffee/tea) was also provided. Staff were also friendly and nice.
Nothing! Even though there is no shower facility in my room, I think it is meant for you to shower at the onsen area. Pure bliss of soaking in the onsen every day.

You can't beat the location of this hotel, inside the park and a 1 minute drive or 15 minute walk from the ropeway. Its also amazing value. Its pristinely clean and has a great kitchen facility. Rooms are very basic but very comfy and spacious. A lot of thought has been put into the organization of the hostel to ensure a smooth flow of things for guests (cooking, how to set up your beds, etc.). Lovely onsen with rotenburo. Big win.
Staff were helpful when present but seemingly overworked and not around in the mornings or early afternoons. There is a free coffee service that says asks staff for help but we could find no staff around in the morning when it was offered. There's a store open in the daytime but no one was around to pay for the items. Rooms also had no glasses or kettles or a tea service box like most Japanese rooms, so anything and everything, even a cup for water, required a trip to the first floor kitchen. Also amazing stars outside the hostel at night but no outdoor seating area I could see, would be awesome to have one.

Great location (we loved the spectacular scenery of Asihadake - the loop hike was a highlight of our trip to Hokkaido); very friendly communal atmosphere with lots of opportunities to chat to fellow guests (while making dinner etc); wonderful onsen; comfortable room
Expensive compared to the other places we stayed on Hokkaido of a similar or better standard but we appreciate that higher prices are the norm for mountain accommodation

The room was spacious and clean. The kitchen/ common area is well equipped for self-catering (4 working stations with pans, pots, etc.). Salt/ pepper/ oil/ basic seasoning is available, as well as tea. Sufficient number of fridges/ freezers. There has been a minor issue in my room which the staff resolved promptly. Availability of the onsen is a big plus. Considering the price range in the Asahidake Onsen area, this place is definitely value for your money. Highly recommended!
The mattress was okayish, but hopefully, it is due for replacement shortly.

The staff were great and gave us a tour when we got there. Nice onsen with big baths, great for relaxing after hiking. Excellent kitchen area and shared lounge. Free toast for breakfast. I appreciated that they have a shop since there aren't any shops or restaurants nearby. Good location for climbing Asahidake - 15 min walk to ropeway. The bus stop for getting in/out is right outside the hostel.
No air conditioning, but there is a big fan in the dormitories. It would be nice to have a curtain on the beds for a bit of privacy.
