Hotel Mont Blanc Hakuba

The hotel staff were very kind and helpful. We went before most of the nearby facilities were open for the season but the staff went out of the way to bring us to the ski school and the onsen. They also informed us of the stopping of train service due to the heavy snow when we were about to leave for the train station and sent us to a nearby bus stop to catch a bus to Nagano instead. our holiday would have been ruined if not for the help of Sakura San and Ms Anisu (I hope I got the name correct). Thank you so much!

Nice and helpful staffs. Free Goryu ski resort shutter bus stop right in front of the hotel. Walkable distance to Escal plaza and snowfileld( not on ski boot). Breakfast is also good. Hotel itself is a bit old though.

The owners (Sakura-san and his wife) and the amazing Front of House/Reception (Anis) made our stay a stellar one. As I did not ski this season, I had a lot of time and spent it exploring Hakuba Valley and nearby cities like Matsumoto. Kak Anis and Sakura-san had a lot of great recommendations and this really made my holiday a wonderful one. A big thank you to Yasuko as well for helping me with all our dinner reservations!

If you plan to venture out for dinner, you need to plan ahead and book the Hakuba On Demand night taxi. This can be sometimes a little unpredictable in terms of timing, so our advice is to book your taxi to arrive slightly earlier than your reservation timing. For skiers who want to venture out to other ski slopes such as Iwatake and Tsugaike, it can be a bit far.

The hotel has everything you need for a snow trip. Staffs were all super friendly and welcoming, going extra miles to help you out and make you feel comfortable - special thanks to Sakura-san and Shuri! The hotel is located near Goryu ski resort, which is around 10mins by walk and you can catch the free shuttle bus right at the corner. Hotel also provides free shuttle service from and to the bus stop if you’re coming from Nagano station by bus. Discounts on passes and rental gears is a plus. Breakfast was simple but perfect to start the day, and ending the day with a dip at the public bath was great for recovery. Met lovely people at the hotel and had great night outs at nearby bars too. There’s just so much that this place offers which you cant find in other places and also great value for money. Already planning my next trip at Hakuba and will def be back!

The staff was the BEST! They went out of their way to be helpful. For instance, they offered to pick us up from the train station so that we would be able to be on time for a dinner reservation. Then, while we were out, they learned that the restaurant could not accommodate our dietary preferences. So their chef made an extra trip to the market to buy ingredients for a dinner for us, and staff stayed 1 hour late so that we could have dinner at the hotel. They also were more than happy to call to make reservations for us.

The hotel itself is a little dated. The breakfast is not what we had hoped for.

The staff were all exceptionally kind and helpful and always pointed us in the right direction when we wanted to do something other than skiing. The location was amazing and even though there is a free and regular shuttle bus to the mountain my husband and I frequently walked to or home from Goyru because the walk was so nice. Couldn’t rate this place highly enough

The room sizes were slightly small but that’s normal for Japan and you make it work! You don’t have to store any ski gear in the room as they have a heated room downstairs so that makes everything easier

Our hosts (in particular Annis) went above and beyond to make our stay so very memorable. Breakfast every day was varied and delicious, all staff were very friendly and always helpful in all sorts of ways. We really couldn’t fault anything about our stay at Montblanc in this beautiful part of the world. We came from Australia to ski and experience all that the Hakuba valley has to offer, and would love to have stayed longer, especially since the snowfall has been exceptional, and our experience at Montblanc has only added to our pleasure. I mentioned our host Annis (not sure that this is the correct spelling of her name), and she deserves to be mentioned again, because her lovely and joyful exuberance when attending to guest’s every wish, was outstanding. We would wholeheartedly recommend Montblanc, to anyone visiting Hakuba valley, particularly those wishing to stay in the Goryu region, and we will certainly be back.

Our last day on the slopes was almost blizzard conditions, followed by a bluebird day and perfect conditions on the morning of our departure, so if the good people of Montblanc, could somehow control the weather, that would be our only request. (Not to be taken too seriously)

The staff (Sakura-senpai and Anis) were so kind and lovely to us. I got hurt while snowboarding and Anis was so kind as to help me with my luggage when I checked out. We didn’t try the spa in the accommodation but it looked decent. All facilities that we needed were present. No issues with check in & check out with a free ride to & from the closest bus stop to get to Nagano station.

Nothing! Hope we could have stayed longer, but it was so busy during the Christmas / new year time. Highly recommend to get to breakfast early. Dinner time is also available for booking day before or the same day in the morning - they serve delicious halal meals as well 😊

The property was a 600m walk to Goryu lifts which was a great spot for snowboarding/skiing. There is also a shuttle that you can regularly catch out the front of the hotel to Goryu. There is a train station about 800m down the road which can be used to access the other mountains followed by a shuttle bus. Canada Tei was a really nice restaurant a short walk away with great food. I visited on a ski trip with some friends and really enjoyed the trip! Anis was especially helpful with planning transport and providing restaurant recommendations, along with Mr Sakura San helping with driving us around the area

Exceptional staff. Anis and Sakura San go above and beyond. Our daughter is celiac and the staff went out of their way to ensure she had gluten free options everyday. We also had a car incident and Anis and Sakura San worked everything out for us. They also organised ski lessons for our children and you can purchase lift tickets at the hotel for a discounted price. Beds were comfy.

There could be more drawers and places to hang clothes. The car park also needs to be cleared of snow more often.
