The onsens, particularly the outdoor pools are wonderful, well maintained with plenty of space for many people. Good sauna too. We were amazed at how well everything worked at this large hotel receiving big numbers of bus tourists every day. Staff were unfailingly helpful and efficient The buffet food service was astonishingly well managed by cheerful staff and ticketed times for guests. The wide array of foods, at both dinner and breakfast was amazing and the quality is excellent and generous: eg small very good steaks cooked for you or Ghengis Khan pots to cook as wished. We had never stayed at such a place before but enjoyed it all for 4 days. A good base for hiking and exploring this part of Daisetsuzan National Park as the gorgeous autumn colours descend from the mountain rooftops. Highly recommend the cable car, chair lift and walk to the top of Mt Kurodake followed by a relaxing onsen session!

We stayed here two nights. Our Japanese style room was very large and comfortable, with a wonderful view of the mountainside and river below. Both onsen were gorgeous, with lots of space, large indoor and outdoor soaking pools, sauna and relaxing seating. Dinner and breakfasts were self service buffets. We are vegetarian and found enough to eat, although more fruit and salads would have been nice. The hotel is situated a 5 min walk from the cable car station for exploring Mt Kurodake. There are also waterfall walks nearby, and is ideal for travelling further into the National Park.

It was all good.

Hotel is ten minutes away from the ropeway. It's a very big hotel, with an impressive lobby and a lounge. Rooms are a bit small, but we slept listening to the sound of the river right below us. The onsen facilities are one of the best ones we've stayed. Both dinner and breakfast are buffet-style, with many different options to choose from. Very good value for money. They have a small shop on the ground floor, where you can buy local products and souvenirs.

Since we stayed over the weekend, the elevators were very crowded and often had to wait. At certain times of the day, announcements were made in Japanese (PA system, speakers on corridors). At check-in, information was only provided in Japanese (and very fast... ), but the next day a different staff member gave us the English information when I asked some questions and she was surprised nobody had given us the English sheet the day before.

The Onsen is definitely the highlight of the hotel, but the lobby and the classical music playing also give you a very comfortable feeling as you enter. The staff was helpful and patient with us non-japanese speaking folks. The buffet for breakfast and dinner had a lot of options to choose from.

One in our group had to sleep in the living room which is fine as we were kinda prepared for that. Sadly the green emergency light coupled with the very short and thin futon were far from comfortable for average European bodies. The appliances being in the wall of that room and generating noise didn't help either. So don't take the westerners room with more than 2 people! The buffet has a lot of options but on the flip side almost everything is lacking in quality as a result. Half the menu with better quality would have given us a much better experience.

Location in the Daisetsuzan National Park. The public onsen with hot spring water looking out on to the Ishikari river in the Sounkyo gorge. Plenty of free parking. 5 minute drive to the Mount Kurodake Cable Car.

Everything was as expected. It is a very big resort hotel , half board with many tour bus clients so meal times are busy and booked in sittings . The buffet style includes very many Chinese, Swiss, German and Italian dishes which can be a bit overwhelming. We had a road facing room Japanese style. It would have been nice if we could have had a river view room.

View out the hotel window was amazing, had the sound of the river flowing and full view of it. Buffet spread for dinner was great, amazing egg mayo and variety was huge. Breakfast was a little less wonderful but still has enough variety to make it all good. Facilities were decent and more traditional old school style but still felt very clean and proper. I love onsen!

Nothing to dislike as it was an overall amazing experience.

We liked the japanese buffet dinner at choyo tei very much. We also enjoyed the VR haunted house and the gift shop!

The private bath's sulfur smell was quite strong, but totally understandable in the enclosed space.

The hotel is well located to explore the area. Staff is kind, buffets diverse and good, onsen pleasant. The staff also offered us a fondue at dinner for our 2nd night stay. Suggested to nature lovers

The room was OK, the highlight is definitely the beautiful outdoor onsen. They switch daily between the men's and women's sides so even if you stay only one night you can try both sides. The buffet meals have allergen markings.

The buffet meals had very few gluten free options.
