Shige, our host was absolutely lovely. He was so helpful, kind and informative and we really enjoyed talking to him. He also made a real effort with our 11 year old son. The room was really well sound proofed despite having rooms either side. It was helpful having the air conditioned eating area and microwave available any time as well as the washing machine. We loved being on this side of island, really green, beautiful and quiet. While you can't swim at close by Crystal Beach, it's great for walking along. Nearby Sukuji beach was perfect for swimming with a safe netted area.

The nearest super markets, even small ones like Family Mart are on the other side of the island so you need to be aware of that if arriving later in the evening as we did. There is a basic shop nearby but very limited and not always open. Shige helped direct us to a nearby place we could find later dinner. The bathroom had a standard toilet rather than a hi-tech Japanese toilet.

Shige is a pergect host, the place is really lucky to have him. Very helpfull, sincere, gave us a lot of tips, recomendations about the area and helped us a lot as we booked the place before finding out that we will not be able to rent a car in the island. We would recomend to have a car if staying in this part of the island. But even without the car and with the help of Shige our stay was perfect. The empty amazing beaches around and sirene rural atmosphere was the highlights what made me not willing to go anywhere else.

Nothing Rent a car as the public transport is quite rare and enjoy your stay

Lovely little spot a stone's throw from Yonehara beach. A mid/budget option run by a really cool couple. I've stayed a few times and I'll stay again. Nice breakfasts!

The road down to the hotel from the main road is poorly signposted and a bit rough'n'tumble. The first time I stayed, it was raining, I was on a (motor)bike and it was very hard to see the sign and find the hotel. The next time, the rough and scrabbly road had me very worried about the underside of the rental car I was in. Otherwise, no complaints. (Also. Yonehara bech isn't quite walkabale or swimmable from the hotel, but it NEARLY is.)

The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. The location of the apartment has been very convenient for us. The beds are very comfortable. The room has an aircon, small fridge, small TV and a table with a chair. There is a common room equipped with a toaster, microwave, cutlery and plates which was very convenient. The apartment was clean and a parking lot for our car has been available. We enjoyed sitting outside on the deck.

The location of this place is just perfect! Away from the city, you can enjoy the countryside at his best. This part of the island is beautiful. You have a rocky beach and a pond just few minutes away. Yonehara beach is just 5 minutes away by car. The manager is an amazing and very kind person. We had a problem and he helped us a lot. He also prepared a very good barbacue for us!

The breakfast was filling, varied and very good. It was homemade and was prepared when we sat down at the table.

The beds were a bit hard. Those who weigh less than 70 kg do not notice it, but if you weigh a little more, it became a small problem. There were no mattress pads.

Staff were helpful and accomodating. The bathroom was very clean! Clean towels every day. The free use of the laundry was hood too.

I thought breakfast was included. But none provided. I thought the cafe was running. But it was closed. The bed mattresses were not comfortable.

Located right next to jungle, a hidden waterfall and the lovely Yonehara beach. Absolutely beautiful scenery - if you want an authentic Yaeyama experience you must visit this place!

Nothing! Everything was perfect!

Lovely little spot near Yonehara beach. A lot of the other places around here are much more expensive. This place is reasonable, with nice rooms, lovely breakfast and friendly, accommodating staff. I turned up late and fancied a drink. The boss and his wife were more than happy to sit with me on the terrace and share a few beers, and some wisdom. I had a blast.

Two slight drawbacks: 1. You're near the beach, but there's no beach view from the rooms, or the hotel at all. (That's why it's cheaper than everywhere else around here. 2. It is poorly signposted. It is situated just off the main road, down a little track among a cluster of guesthouses and holiday homes. The track/turn-offf doesn't have a sign for "AsobiBASE" yet. (I think they're a little unsure as to what, finally, to call their hotel.) These are minor drawbacks.

The room was comfortable and had air-conditioning and air cleaner, breakfast was amazing, the host even cooked an extra dinner for us as we arrived late and organized same-day booking for a fantastic barbecue. The house is close to the beach and relatively close to Yonehara and Kabira. Bus stop 5min from home.

There are very few places to eat at around the house. Unless you have a car you have to plan every meal.
