If you're gonna spend time in Kyoto and want to save money and stay outside of city center, this is THE hotel to book. Absolute incredible value for your money. Even just the whole washroom itself is incredible and earns the 5 stars. It's like the GOAT of all washrooms, literally incredible. Rain shower, shower head, foot wash, jet stream for massages, then the bathtub has jets, a waterfall stream, you can dim the lighting to set the ambiance, fill up your tub at 300% speed. The beds are SO COMFORTABLE. The pillows are phenomenal. I slept so good. This was the first ever hotel where I enjoyed their bedding and linens more than my own at home. I really felt at home. They give you robes to wear to feel comfortable, the kitchen is stocked with plates, bowls, utensils, pot and pan, and cookware. You'll need to buy oil and salt and pepper though. Staff are extremely friendly, free laundry detergent. They even have a steaming machine! The laundry machines were a little hard to use though and it shrunk our clothes and clothes didn't fully dry. The location is so ideal. It's close to a Lawson's and Family Mart, along with the Daily Yamazaki (convenience stores). 5 mins to bus stop, ~8-10mins to Tofukuji station, which is only one stop away from Kyoto station. It's ~20 mins to Gion-Shijo (train station to Nishiki Market). Getting around was fast and easy, but keep in mind the trains don't come as frequently as the ones in Tokyo so you'll want to check the timetable in advance. There's a JR line that passes through here too, so you can get to Nara directly from the station without needing to transfer. I have recommended this place to friends and we have all loved it. Love the extra bedroom with the sliding doors to create extra privacy. The rooms are spacious and huge! They also have a lovely little rooftop lounge area that's big too. Great place for looking at the sunrise/sunset. A MUST STAY when you're in Kyoto.
Laundry machine was hard to use and understand. Shrunk our clothes. We've used different machines from Tokyo to Osaka to Kyoto and this was the only one we had an issue with. But could be user error and if you don't plan on washing your clothes, not a concern at all :)

Clean room with plenty of space. We were a group of 5 and when booking we were a bit hesitant about the double bed + 3 futon arrangement, but in the end it was a perfect solution for us. I slept on a futon and slept well every night. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood but still within walking distance of Kyoto station and Tofukuji station. The hotel itself was also very quiet, we never heard any other guests from our room at night. The facilities in the room are excellent: fancy shower + bath, fancy Japanese toilet, 2 bathroom sinks, hairdryer, plenty of wall sockets, clothes rack, small kitchen with microwave oven, fridge, water cooker, hot plate, sink -- everything you need really. The rooms use a key code system, no cards, which is convenient. The 4 washer-dryer machines are free to use, detergent is free at reception. Room cleaning service is available on request for a small fee. Staff were friendly. Reception is available until midnight. When booking we mentioned we could be arriving late, and they let us know they would mail us instructions to check in if we arrive after midnight. We didn't need this in the end, but nice that the option is there. Overall very happy with our stay at this hotel, would recommend 👍

The room is good size for family of 5 adults (youngest in their early 20s). Futons were wonderfully comfortable (i would advise those with back issues to be careful still). So many convenient outlets with USB ports, a godsend for parties with many devices. The bathroom is fully decked out with a choice between a rainfall showerhead and handheld one. (I loved the hair treatment they provided). The star of our stay is a bath tub with jacuzzi functions and lighting control for easy access while soaking. Staff were friendly and had printables prepared for the konbini question.
It's definitely a distance away from the closest train stations: Tofukuji station is around 10 -15 minutes away (with a slow walker/senior, never tested a walk from Kyoto station). A tip I have for returning to the hotel by taxi is saving the Japanese address + having the directions open on google maps for the driver's reference. Not all taxi drivers are knowledgable of the hotel and this helps them out a lot.

This is one of the best values in terms of luxury and room size in Kyoto. Their location in Hiroshima is what sold us on the brand. The executive suite was amazing with the outdoor bath and a tatami area. We also had a washing machine with a built in dryer. This was key. I will always stay here when I go to Kyoto moving forward. My partner had issues with air purity in Osaka so we moved to the Randor because of the cleanliness and the air filters. Highly recommended. If you opt for one of the bigger rooms, you won’t be disappointed. If you have a larger group you’re staying with, it’s really economical.
The location makes it a long walk from the station. Luckily it’s close enough for a cab to be rather cheap. People don’t know the location of the hotel well since it is new so please show the driver the Japanese address in your map app or on the website.

- A little noisy due to the guests upstairs. - Very few restaurants in the immediate vicinity. - The washing machine was very shaky. - Lack of facility to air dry clothes.

Wow! We stayed at this hotel after staying in Tokyo and we were beyond impressed. It was close enough to Kyoto train station that it was definitely doable with all of our suitcases and luggage. Once we arrived at the hotel, the reception alone had us wowed. So clean and relaxing the atmosphere was perfect. Checking in was super easy and we were told about the free amenities provided including tea, coffee, yukata pyjamas, amazing skincare and even washing detergent which we could use for the laundry room near reception, free of charge. There were five of us in total staying in one room and it was amazing, the perfect blend of traditional and modern. There was a kitchen area with fridge, freezer, cooker hob, microwave and kettle. The living room area was divided and had lovely big sofa with coffee table and the other half was traditional tatami floor with table and cushions and futons for us to set out and sleep on. There was also a huge bedroom with big bed, super comfortable to sleep in. And the bathroom was incredible, we had no problem with space or privacy, it suited us perfectly especially for the price. I suggest also to not be too weary about using the buses as its just as easy as using the trains and it's much more accessible to use the buses in Kyoto than the trains and we had no problem.

This is the second Randor I've stayed at, the first being in Sapporo, and they've both been amazing. Fully featured, large rooms at a great price. After the first one we've only since stayed at apartment hotels as they offer large, excellent rooms at excellent prices. Once the option was available (due to the kitchenette) we often found ourselves just shooting off to a supermarket, picking up A5 wagyu and yakisoba kits and eating meals that would have otherwise been 10000 yen per person for about 2500 yen each.
In exchange for a huge room at a low price you lose 24/7 staff, daily cleaning, swimming pools, built-in restaurants etc, but for us it was well worth it. We'd make that trade in a heartbeat.

The room is spacious and big (compared to must Japan Hotels) therefore comfortable for families. Although there are laundry machines available at the base floor, our room had its own laundry machine which turned out very helpful. Beautiful cherry tree outside the hotel. Nara metro line within 6min walk and Kyoto Station within 15min walk.
The staff hotel were only available during specific times of day (from 9am to 10pm I believe), it would be helpful to have 1 person available 24hrs like other hotels.

We enjoyed this hotel out of all the hotels we stayed at during our trip around Japan. We enjoyed our room because it was like having an apartment. Having been in a small hotel room before arriving here with just enough space then going into this hotel with so much space to walk and breathe. The rainfall shower was great after a whole day of walking. The bathroom was spacious to have the shower room and toilet seperated. The room was so clean and had all the ammenities we needed. Everyone enjoyed the roof top since it was quiet and we were able to view Kyoto tower at night and had a good view of Kyoto in the morning. The area was quiet away from the main road and cars. It was a 10 minute walk to a convient store through the quiet neighboorhood. About 20 minute walk to Kyoto station. It was one of the most relaxing hotels we stayed at during our trip. The hotel made us feeling like we actually living in Kyoto. Staff was always friendly and helpful. We had accidently left a cellphone in our taxi that we took to the hotel and the staff was trying to help us to figure out how can get a hold of the driver checking the security camera to help us. The driver did come back a few minutes later after dropping us off to return the phone. The effort they put in to helping us, we appreciated it.
