Staff were friendly and helpful. The baths were very nice and always clean. Room was small but comfortable and quiet.

Maybe a little further from main areas I wanted to see than I had expected, but it wasn't anything bad.

The room is great, has everything you need, the hotel clothing is also comfortable, it is only a 3 minutes walk and 5 minutes train ride to Kyoto station too.

There were no universal outlet, but it is also something you anticipate when planning a trip to Japan so i had adapters available.

The breakfast was one of the better ones we experienced on our Japan trip, and the tea/coffee facilities were available to guests throughout the late afternoon/evening also, which was appreciated. Luggage was able to be stored before our check-in, allowing us to explore Kyoto without it. The beds were the comfiest that we slept on in Japan.

The room was very small, but well thought out, unfortunately there was virtually no space to put a bag, of which we had 4. Bizarrely the bathroom was divided; the shower and toilet were behind doors to the right as we entered the room, but the sink and mirror were in an alcove on the left of the door, so in effect you walked through the bathroom to get into the room.

Breakfast was good: lots of choices and run in an organized way. The onsen was easy to use and an added fun amenity if you won't get to go to a standard public onsen during your stay. Room was large as compared to usual rooms in large cities like Tokyo and Kyoto. Felt clean and well organized, particularly for the power situation.

They didn't allow you to get drinks from the machine after hours except for within a very small window of time in the evening, and the only drinks they had were coffee and tea (in the evening! :D ). As hotels get higher end, there are less and less quality of life features: the microwave downstairs doesn't have any plates. I ended up microwaving my Lawson cutlet in a mug in the lobby. Perplexing: why are no full beds available to book on Booking.com. It's only two (large-ish) "twin" beds available for booking.

It was amazing to have the japanese baths integrated in the hotel and to experience an Onsen (although i assume that the water was not actually from a hot spring so i think the term is a different one). The shower was also amazing and everything was very clean, useful and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and the location was perfect if you are planning on doing some trips (just) outside Kyoto as the Hotel is just two stops on the JR line from the main station. If you only plan on moving around within Kyoto, it could be beneficial to be located a bit more central where you can walk home after dinner but even in these cases the hotel is rather well located. The night gowns that are provided by the hotel are a big plus too.

While the beds were very big and comfortable which is a very big plus, the rooms are rather on the small size, which is normal for big cities in Japan of course but can be a bit inpractical. However, if I have to choose between more space or bigger beds, I will always choose the latter so that is just a little remark. Also, it would be amazing if it was possible to put on Netflix on the TV but again, that is only a plus we had in some other hotels and is not absolutely essential.

It has free matcha and coffee at night time, you can enjoy it in the dinning area and relax. The public bath was nice. The service of concierge was very very nice and helpful. Our son was sick during travel, the receptionist was very patient and nice, she helped us to find a local hospital with interpreter, complete the pre-visit form online for us as we don’t understand Japanese, and helped us to book an appointment with the hospital. Breakfast was great, they have soba noodle! Public transport is very close, the Seven Eleven and the JR station are about 4 mins walk, bus stop is about 10 mins walk.

The shared bath was amazing. It was small but very clean. They offered free matcha lattes and coffees in certain time periods and it was just amazing to be able to come back from a cold walk outside to a cup of hot steaming matcha.

Although it is close to the train station, it’s not exactly a centre location. I personally don’t really see it as a negative point but might be worth noting to others. Although the staff seemed keen to provide suggestions on where to go etc through the messaging system on booking.com, when we got there they didn’t really respond as enthusiastically and had no suggestions except for the places they had pre printed on a pamphlet. Perhaps it was the language barrier?

Very nice hotel, both well served in terms of staff and facilities. The staff were both very polite but also pro-active in advising and assisting us, including allowing a slightly earlier check-in without issue. The food and breakfast facilities were nicely run with a large and tasty selection, plus convenient free coffee drinks later in the day. The rooms were very comfy and the beds were very nice, with a good TV option for playing youtube through it, plus the bathroom and toilets in the rooms were separate and spacious, allowed one person to shower while the other could still use the toilet, which was very useful.

Sadly, the hotel is situated a bit far from a lot of the main attractions of the city, although there is a train station practically beside the hotel that takes you to the main Kyoto station so the issue is somewhat mitigated. The other issue was that the rooms were nicely furnished and comfy, but oddly narrow and lacking storage so we actually struggled to find a convenient space to store our suitcases, which was an inconvenience but not massively problematic

The design was very nice. The rooms had flair and the hotel was very clean and modern. The location was central but not directly at the main attractions which means it was nice and quiet at night. Very nice pool as well.

The only reason I didn’t give 10 points is the ac because it’s pointed at the bed and you simply can’t sleep without it but it also ends up blowing cold at you all night and the bed is more on the soft side (If you like softer beds, this is a plus for you). The breakfast was nice but I would hope a bit more variety on the western section (very much Japanese focused, so if you like miso and fish for breakfast this is again a plus). It was tasty overall but I would also enjoy some more western options.

Although it may seem that the hotel is far from the city center itself with the main tourist attractions, it has an ideal location - Tambaguchi Station is a few minutes' walk from where you can use the JR pass to get 2 stations to the main station and thus use other combinations with this pass. The room was relatively large by Japanese standards (double bed), complete with armchairs and a small table. The toilet was automatic and separate from the bathroom. A big advantage is the large onsen. The breakfasts were buffet style and were perfect, rich, varied and perfectly satisfied here both a person who loves Japanese cuisine and a classic western style.

The reception staff was as bad at English as we were, but it was actually nice. They were very diligent.
