A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Clean, calm and the service is exceptional. The included breakfast and dinner are wonderful, and the spa is a lovely place to relax. Lots of thoughtful touches in the hotel like stargazing equipment, a coffee machine and a little snack bar.

The location is beautiful with rooms looking out over the river and one of the Kamikochi mountain ranges. One could stay in one’s room (or on the many sitting spots in front of the hotel) all day listening to the birds and the river and soaking in the nature all around. The staff are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make your stay happy. The dinners are fabulous; the wine list unexpected (if a bit expensive); the rooms spacious and comfortable. Enjoyed the complimentary star-gazing guided walk very much. The public onsen (complete with outdoor bath) was perfect.

Surprised initially that there was no aircon, but the open window and a fan were actually fine and I was not uncomfortable as I feared I would be (late July). The nights were pleasantly cool. The bathroom is a small Japanese unit bathroom and rather cramped (but adequate and has very nice toiletries generously supplied).

The staffs are all kind and friendly, and their services are great. The view and the rooms are perfect.

We stayed overnight, the room was very spacious and clean on the 3rd floor. We were directly across from the private onsen which is an extra charge of ¥3,300 for one hour. It was a 17 minutes walk to the Kappabashi Bridge. The area is very quiet and relaxing. The service from the employees was exceptional.

Unfortunately we were not informed ahead of time by the hotel that the only way to get here was by local bus. The bus stop is still a 20 minute walk to the hotel. In addition we weren’t informed that the bus would stop running at a certain time and we were forced to hire a cab which cost ¥5,200 one way. We had to park our car about 7km away at a lot that charged ¥1,400. We did take the local bus back to the parking lot but it was outrageously expensive at ¥1,300 per person, one way. In total just to get to this place it cost us ¥9,200 for two people. You’re better off hiring a tour bus company to take you and save yourself the hassle. We figured all this out without any prior knowledge from the hotel. To the hotel, I recommend a disclaimer on how to arrive at your hotel, with detailed instructions, especially for foreign guests.
