The room looked bit old but was spacious, clean and with private bathroom. The hotel is just 3min walk from the bus station. No breakfast available (which was actually fine with us). You can buy coffee for 100jpy at reception and buy some food from the convenience store just in front of the hotel. Otherwise, you can find a large coffee shop right next the bus station. Also, the large outdoor onsen was closed for maintenance at the time we stayed. Instead, we accessed the small one, which was lovely! The lady from reception adjusted the temperature for us, as it was too hot and the experience was really nice!

We stayed in January, which is a cold month (we reached -13C at night). It always felt bit chilly in the room, even with the heater on. Despite of this, it was okay at sleep time, as the duvets did keep us warm. This was the most expensive stay in my 3-week travel in Japan and I think that the value for the money isn't that good. However, it was one of the cheapest when compared to similar hotels in the same town.

very friendly staff. super clean. comfortable Japanese beds. great location. Would recommend for a basic stay.

the private outdoor onsen was never available and the private inside ones were very dated. For 700yen go to bathe in the beautiful outdoor public Hirayu Mori Onsen.

This hotel was beyond my expectation. Great value for money as you get unlimited free private onzen (if the room is vacant you can use the onzen). The room, location, staff, views and everything was perfect. The staffs were very nice. The receptionist introduced me to restaurants around the area (since not a lot of them open at late hours she recommended Rokuju which I find very delicious) and provided me a detailed map of places to eat and also gave a tour of the 4 private onzens and other accommodation. Also, the shampoo, body soap and hand soap of this hotel is soo good better than 5 star hotels.

The pillow was a bit small. It felt like it was cushioned with small semi-hard balls (maybe its a traditional ryokan pillow?) but still surprisingly comfortable.

We had the pleasure of staying at Tabist Kazeyuki in Hirayu Onsen, and it was a truly memorable experience. The room was spacious, with a cozy Japanese tatami style that added an authentic touch to my stay. It was incredibly comfortable and peaceful, offering the perfect retreat after a day of exploring the area. One of the highlights was the private onsen, both indoor and outdoor, a wonderful way to relax and soak in the natural hot spring water in the comfort of your own room. The ambiance was serene, and the warm, rejuvenating baths made it feel like a personal spa experience. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the atmosphere of the hotel was very traditional in the heart of Hirayu Onsen, is ideal for those seeking tranquility and a taste of Japanese hospitality. We highly recommend Tabist Kazeyuki for anyone looking for a cozy and rejuvenating stay with an authentic private onsen experience.

- Great onsen facilities, and we were positively surprised to find private onsen places in the hotel instead of shared ones - Onsen use regardless gender and without reservation - Short walk from the bus station - Great and spacious room which made us feel both at home and within the Japanese experience sleeping on the floor and with Japanese lounge clothing - Super friendly staff, coffee, drinks and food can be purchased there - Toilet and shower in the room was separated - When checking-in we asked the staff if we could use the onsen with tattoos, which they allowed us - Friendly staff, always willing to help out - Leave luggage to go to kamikochi - We enjoyed the tranquil music in the common areas - Usually we donโ€™t spend that amount of money for a night but it was totally worth it

we purchased two times coffee but it was only available during the reception time, we would have wished to not depend on the opening hours

I would have to agree with most of the reviews Iโ€™ve read before booking this property. It is by far the best place Iโ€™ve stayed in in Japan after all those years travelling in the country and without breaking my budget. The property features Japanese-style family rooms which are spacious and the limited number of rooms make you feel like youโ€™re in an exclusive company. It is located in a picturesque village and the view in winter is just amazing. The private onsen is a treat for families to experience the hot springs together. And the outdoor onsen is quite an experience. Imagine soaking in the hot pool with the snow falling on your head. Despite the hour-long bus ride to the city of Takayama and the limited schedule of buses to the place, I would still recommend booking this place specially after the rush from visting Japanโ€™s busy cities such as Tokyo. The property is walking distance from the bus terminal (less than 5 minutes in snowy weather) so no need to worry if there are no taxis around. There are also attractions along the way which we werenโ€™t able to visit such as the Shinnotaka ropeway and the Hida caves. The village is famous enough for its hot springs, so just staying there is already a treat.

The only downside is that the property has no restaurant so you have to go out to eat breakfast or dinner. Not sure if other guests have also spotted the Kappa and the sleeping woman on the 4th floor rooms, but they mind their own business, so please be respectful of their space too.

While a lot further out of Takayama than I had expected, we were greeted with a gorgeous little town comprised of a few places to stay, eat and a general store. The reception was warm and welcoming, and shoes must be left at the front door. The room was very roomy, warm and comfortable with a fantastic view. The onsens are fully private, simply by taking the open/closed signs on the door and looking them from the inside. This was a wonderful way to have a mixed bath with your partner and there are 4 baths to use. One of which was outdoors and was very fun to be in as it was snowing during our stay and being outside and bathing was quite the adventure! The room had its own bathroom and shower as well.

The twin automatic doors where you take off and put on your shoes kept opening while sitting to take on/off shoes letting the cold in, weird complaint but I don't have anything else bad to say!

This hotel is in a great location. Itโ€™s very close to the bus terminal and a few little local restaurants. The rooms are very clean and the private Onsenโ€™s are amazing. The staff are so kind and caring. I lost my purse and didnโ€™t realise till 1 hour before our bus was due to come to take us back to Tokyo. Suu Nii Taa came with me to the local streets and helped me track it down. It had fallen out of my pocket at a local restaurant the day before and It had been handed into the police station. Needless to say I managed to get it back (with all my cards, drivers licence, cash and bus tickets) and just make my bus on time. Thank you Tabist staff and Suu Nii Taa in particular.

The view was breathtaking as I had never seen beautiful snow views like that before. It was easy to move around in the area and you could easily find things you need even though the hotel doesn't provide food itself. The staff members are very friendly and helpful, and willing to go above and beyond when we needed some help. I love the outdoor onsen in particular. I was a bit worried if we couldn't use it before we arrived because we were told it was 'first come, first serve'. It was actually available most of the time so we got to use it twice during our 1 night stay. Awesome experience.

Nothing.

The place is great. Even outside it looks little old but inside the room and everything look clean and nice. If I have change I would like to come back here for sure. Also this is the great place to stop by Kamikลchi. Stay here at less 2 night would be excellent.

Actually everything is good. Even they don't have breakfast service, they stated right away when we checked in and the breakfast around the area is easy to find. The only concerned thing is that (for other hotels in the area too), there is only one mini mart that close around 6.00 PM so after that you can not find anything. There are some restaurants but still if there're mini mart around open little late will be very good. And other mini mart have to drive away kinda far. So if you want to stay around this area, please get yourself ready for important stuffs, snacks and drinks.
