We really love the Wakka, stayed here before and planning to come back. Wonderful and peaceful location, a great place to relax after the bike ride. Local hot springs spa nearby, which can be visited free of charge - great for soothing tired muscles. There is else muscle massage gun available on request at Wakka. We really enjoyed our evening BBQ and beautiful views of the bridge and islands. Wakka staff are extremely helpful and made our stay very enjoyable.

Wakka was hands-down our absolute favourite hotel during our 3 week holiday. We wish we'd stayed longer there, it's so special. We stayed in a geodesic dome tent right by the water, which was incredible. The tent was well-stocked with a cooler, air conditioning, and storage space, as well as a lovely little private patio. We had to use the shared bathroom and shower room, but that was no problem for us. There is a large Family Mart about 1 km away from the site with everything you could need. We had biked the Shimanami Kaido from Onamichi and were exhausted and sweaty and gross when we arrived. The reception staff welcomed us in with cool towels and iced tea, and helped us get oriented and organized, making suggestions for dinner and activities. Tip: Wakka offers a lot of services, from bike rentals to excursions to meals, and it is worth checking out their website to see what you can add to your stay. For example, their rental bikes looked really nice compared to the ones we rented in Onamichi! We wish we had known more about what they offer beyond what's on Booking.com. This is a full-service facility that even non-paying guests can use (e.g. if you're cycling by, you can stop for a drink at their cafe, or get air for your bike tires, or just rest on their lawn). Really, really wonderful place.

Nothing bad to say about this place at all, it's amazing.

Amazing little hotel catering for cyclists and non cyclists. The room we had was like a mini house, separate kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. The design is thoughtful and very modern. The kitchen even has a lovely little ceramic pour over set for your daily coffee (supplied). The cycling infrastructure in the area is one of the best we have seen. I highly recommend hiring the electric bikes on site and explore. This is the real Japan!! Ps staff are super nice and helpful with transfers not being an issue at anytime of day!

Breakfast could improve but overall nothing we didn’t like. Would have been amazing if the place had a pool but virtually no pools in Japan so that’s standard.

Staying here was supposed to be an overnight stop on a two day bike ride of the Shimanami Kaido. Rain forced us to cancel the ride but we couldn't cancel our reservation. Getting there by bus with all of our bags took some effort but I thought staying in the yurt type tent would be a cool experience. It was pretty cool but I think it would have been more fun if we could have ridden our bikes there. The third bed was a blowup kind of thing that wasn't comfortable so my adult daughter and I shared a bed and that worked out fine. The staff was great, especially working with them before I got to Japan to plan the bike delivery, luggage transfer and bike pickup. All that planning was for naught, as the rain canceled those plans. I was impressed with their quick and thorough replies to all my pre-trip questions. The shuttle service was nice and they accommodated picking us up early from the dinner place we went to, which wasn't that great. They also shuttled us to an Onsen before dinner that was very nice.

The third blowup bed wasn't comfortable, it was a bit of a walk to the bathroom at night in the rain. They did provide umbrellas though. Breakfast wasn't that great and they charge for a second glass of milk or juice which seemed greedy considering how much the 1 night stay was. I felt it was overpriced for what we got.

The mid point of the Shimanami Kaido and unfortunately we only stayed one night. This was an awesome hotel and if you are planning to do some more riding in the area it would be a very good base. We had dinner and breakfast included in the price and these were outstanding meals. Dinner was Robayaki cooked on the deck in front of our room and included Wagyu, Chicken, Shrimp and lots of veggies. Breakfast was fresh croissants, egg and bacon and salad with good coffee. The facilities are good and the view excellent. The staff were also excellent. We wish we had of stayed longer, but do intend to come back and do more cycling in the area.

What a find! I thought this would be a cute tent/cabin stay for a night but this exceeded my expectations. We were biking the Shimanami Kaido and stopped here for the night. I regret not staying here longer as this would have been a great base to explore the island further. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, and helped us with the facilities (e.g. laundry machine) and nearby recommendations (nearby onsen). Easily accessible by car or bike. We booked the BBQ dinner which ended up being a three course feast (great value for money)! The tent was lovely and very luxurious (with everything and more you'd ever need going glamping, from comfy beds to air-con/heating) and a beautiful sunrise and view of the bridge and island in the distance. We loved biking on the islands and will definitely stay here again in the future!

Absolutely nothing. (The tents do not have bathrooms so you will have to walk maybe 50 meters outside but they provide slippers and warm outdoor coats if required.)

Exceeded our expectations by a mile. Absolutely worth every penny, it was by far our favourite stay of the 3 weeks in Japan. The service was impeccable, from the welcome drinks, the food was amazing, we stayed in the domes and the BBQ was incredible, it has room wear, air conditioning, incredible sunrise, best sleep I had, the shower facilities were spotless, the laundry area (the dryer actually dried our clothes which is a first). And finally, there were staff from all around the world such as Sri Lanka, turkey and very welcoming to international tourists

Nothing at all. I could not fault anything.

WAKKA is more than a hotel or a cafe, it’s a whole experience! And rather an incredible one. It’s probably one of the best places we ever visited in our travels. From the moment we arrived to departing, the staff had been absolutely amazing and helpful, making our day brighter despite the heavy rain. The tents are gorgeous and super cozy, the beds are comfortable and many utilities are at disposal (pyjamas, toiletries, jackets, indoor and outdoor sleepers, charging outlets) making the whole stay easy and even more enjoyable. Would also recommend enjoying the BBQ served in front of the tent for dinner, which is seasonal, local and flavourful! The breakfast was great, served on the terrace which has an incredible view and relaxing vibe + the coffee is delicious!

The location is great. Facilities are modern and comfortable. Very peaceful and great outlook near the water. Staff very helpful and friendly. Nice local food options close by as well. Having free shuttle service to and from public onsen was great too!

Because we stayed for 5 days we noticed that most local shops are not open every day. It would be helpful to know which ones are open on which days.

From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful, taking the time to address our questions about the bus schedule etc. We never stayed in a yurt before, it was cozy, clean and fun The BBQ dinner was one of the best meals we hadnin Japan. Cooking the steak, seafood and fresh veggies on the grill with the view of the ocean and islands will be a cherished memory. Breakfast on the lanai deck was so pleasant we decided to leave later to enjoy it longer. The tickets and shuttle to the onsen were a welcome surprise.

Walking to the bathroom was a little inconvenient but the facilities were clean and neat. Next time we’ll get a cabin with toilet and shower
