We stayed in the caravan, which was a trailer home on the slope. We could almost ski directly from it. The place was well set up for people who want to make their own food, of which we brought a lot. It had a big refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle. We ate on the floor from the coffee table, but there was a sofa that you could also eat on. The trailer had its own internet router which worked very well for streaming Netflix; something not typical for Japanese ski resorts. The hot water heater worked very well as well, meaning nice hot showers. The room had a small bath but there was a small but clean indoor hot tub at the hotel that is free to use. The place is very close to the Ichinose bus stop. You can take the bus for free to any Shiga Kogen area slope. But frankly it was not necessary as we were already right on the slope.

It was hard to walk to the main hotel from the caravan. You had to walk down the slope to the hotel which could be very slippery. However the hotel staff was happy carry our luggage up and down. There weren't many open restaurants in the Ichinose area. So best bring your own food. Inside the hotel, there were two restaurants, one wasn't too pricey but very good. The Daruma restaurant was the best; it had great Japanese dinner sets and very good burgers (but not so good tortilla chips with it). The hotel buffet at breakfast and dinner weren't too good so I'd consider skipping those.

If you are on the fence about this hotel, just book it! This hotel is located in the heart of Ichinose, and coincidentally has almost all of the restaurants in Ichinose on site. The hotel is a relic from the 1998 Nagano Olympics. While some of the decor may be considered dated, it really ads to the overall vibe of the hotel. It is right next to the main ski slope of Ichinose. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The staff were friendly. The yakiniku restaurant on the first floor is great, but I was partial to the shokudo next door. There is also a daily Yamazaki in the hotel next door. I was very confused about the layout of Shiga Kogen or if this would be a good location, but you have access to the entire central mountain area from Ichinose. My favorite part is that this might be the last hold out ski resort that isn’t overrun by foreigners. Most of the staff are Japanese, and many of the hotel guests are as well. Don’t miss out on the Japanese style breakfast!

If you have tattoos, you must use the public bath either early in the morning or late at night (before 6AM, after 10PM).

Breakfast and buffet dinner are both great and good options. We like the yakiniku restaurant in the hotel too, very good but the service is quite slow. Hotel is very well located with walking distance to the slopes, the ski rental shop is in the hotel and with locker room, very convenient. We have all we need for the ski holiday.

Great location close to Ichinose family ski resort. Near bus station. Rental shop available but ski board and boots a little bit old. Meals available all day which is exceptional when most restaurants closed. Dinner restaurant is wonderful for yakiniku. Friendly and helpful staff.

Facility is just acceptable. Elevator is busy during morning and evening. Public Bathroom is cold.

The fact that there are few restaurants nearby you can choose from and more importantly, the ski ticket office and ski is just 100m (more or less) away. I basically skied to it. Ski rental can be made at the hotel building itself (third party rental)

Perhaps the toilet.. No bidet

the hotel is a little bit old,but it was clean, and also if you need to use your bathroom in your room you need to tell it to reception because it was locked.

I've stayed here before and it's in a great location. Two-walk in restaurants on the 1st floor makes things very easy.(but best to book) The ski room is very good and spacious.

Hotel Japan Shiga was in a great location for skiing in/out, staff were very helpful and facilities good.

It didn't have a fireplace or nice area to sit as a group. The area there was very dated.

The Breakfast is ok, but the same most mornings. The location is excellent, about 40m from the ski slope. I did not use the in hotel restaurant for dinner, but the two commercial restaurants on the 1st floor are very good and convenient.

My heater stopped working for a couple of hours, but I was supplied an electric heater very promptly.
