Nice place. Very peaceful, close to the Monkey park. Onsen was really great, also having nice outdoor Japanese style pool. There are shared bathrooms, but the rooms as well as entire house is very clean. I can recommend this place.

Sadly, the cook was on vacation while I was there, so there was no breakfast nor dinner served in ryokan. Staff offered some alternatives to eat in the area. However, since the accommodation is little bit further from town, there are not so many dining options in the area. Also, bus to Shibu-Onsen is not so frequent, and the last one departs between 19h and 20h, so you have to walk to the town, and the walk takes about 25 min.

The staff were wonderful and friendly. I had never stayed at a traditional Japanese Inn or Ryukan. They helped me understand expectations and feel comfortable. Location is very close to Snow Monkeys. The doona is exceptionally light and warm - like wearing hug!

I think it would be good to have an explanation on how to use the onsen in the room. It’s a small thing as the rest was exceptional. You can book meals but I did not exercise this option which I am sure I will regret.

Great location right at the entrance to monkey Park and next to restaurant. Spacious room was neat and clean. Onsen was available but the water was too hot for me so I didn't get to fully enjoy it. The gentleman who checked me in and out was super nice, polite and helpful.

While at other places i considered dinner was included, at this location it was an option that had to be requested. I was really looking forward to having a meal there but I was informed that dinner was not available. Perhaps there were not enough guests to make it worth cooking.

We had an amazing stay here. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and even offered us a last minute cancellation when the snowmonkey park unexpectedly closed due to a Corona outbreak. We still came and didn't regret it. The onsen was great to relax after travelling, and the food (breakfast and dinner) were amazing. Definitely order including food! In the end the snow monkey park opened on our last day, making it perfect.

Exceptional staff. The manager of the hotel must feel like family. The Onsen in the hotel was so relaxing. The traditional kimono and jacket supplied were so authentic and allowed us to immerse ourselves in the traditional Japanese culture. The hotel is at the gate of the Snow Monkey park. Amazing experience. Thankyou again for being so warm and hospitable!

I booked for one person, and the room completely exceeded my expectations. The outdoor hot spring is outstanding for the price.

I was unable to book the meal plan because it was full. There are very few dinner options nearby (like one restaurant only, if I am not mistaken), so be prepared.

Intimate, lovely, family-run ryokan, with lovely Enza Cafe nearby, closest to Jigokudani Yaen-koen

Traditional stay with friendly and helpful staffs. Snow monkey park is half an hour walk away making it very convenient and there was a Iocal cafe and a restaurant nearby. I was lucky to have the hot springs to myself and needed a relaxing break from the city. I would love to come back.

I'm a late eater so not eating after 9pm was a challenge
