The Nozaru Onsen Hostel is a delightful spot that I had the pleasure of visiting. One of its standout features is the magnificent view of the river, offering a serene and picturesque backdrop that's hard to find elsewhere. The tranquil waters complement the hostel's relaxing vibe, making it an ideal retreat for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Additionally, the offer of unlimited drinks adds an extra layer of value and convenience to your stay, ensuring you're well-hydrated and content without the need to venture far. This thoughtful touch, coupled with the stunning natural scenery, makes the Nozaru Onsen Hostel a must-visit for travellers seeking a peaceful and accommodating environment.

My experience at the Nozaru Onsen Hostel was marred by the availability of only a smoking room, which was less than ideal for a non-smoker. The smoke smell affected my comfort, casting a shadow over an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Location was great. Close to good restaurants. Staff was friendly. Onsen was amazing and makes the stay well worth it.

Futons was hard, needed a upper mattress.

Superb location to walk to Jigokudani via the 2.5km road that is closed in the winter. Makes for a stunning short hike. The hostel is situated on the east side of Yamanouchi, right next to the main temple and makes for some lovely walking around that part of town.

A warning that in winter the hostel is very cold. The size of the building and little insulation means it's chilly in the public areas, stairwells etc. but bunk up the heater in your room and it's cozy in no time.

Shibu onsen is amaizing, beautiful and quiet at night, and Nozaru ryokan is right in the heart of onsen village. I really liked how this run-down building look, and I was happy to have spacious room with kotatsu and nice rotemburo for a price of a hostel. Girl on the reception was nice, too.

Really cold in winter. I can't sleep with working heater, so I had to pack myself under kotatsu somehow. The place is not clean. Don'd forget to buy food beforehead.

Big comfortable rooms. Nice and warm in the room but cold in the common areas. Onsen is very hot but good. A little run down. Parking isn't easy as they only have 5 spaces.

Kitchen wasn't clean and no real equipment like cups. So it's a little run down. They also charged us 1000 Yen for parking per night on the weekend which we weren't expecting.

The owners and staff were so kind! Made my stay very memorable. And the onsen was amazing. Gets a tad bit cold during winters but they always refilled the gas for the heater and were very helpful with recommendations. You can rent out towels and yukata for a very good price too!

Would have loved if they offered pick up and drop off to the train station, would have been happy to pay for such services!

The room was well equipped with multiple quilts, a heater and all of the traditional japanese furniture. Nice and spacious with it’s own toilet and bathroom. The hostels own onsen was really nice, clean and in many ways actually better than the traditional onsens in the town.

Nothing really, the hostel is very good value for money

I liked the location, I liked that it looked inside like from the movies in the 80's. I really enjoyed kotatsu in a room. The onsen was nice too.

It was really cold. Even if I could heat the room, the building was cold.

Great onsen (better than the nine public onsens), fantastic facility (big room, heated table, balcony,...). We were very happy there.

Everything was great!

Great value for money and the staff were very friendly. The onsen is tattoo friendly!

Not very clean, the doorknob on the toilet door was broken and the hot water tap in the room didn't work
