This is a delightful, small, independent lodge in a picturesque, quiet little area just outside Myoko. We wondered about staying off the snow, but Shereyne and Brett were so obliging with shuttling us around that it was no problem at all. And they were able to advise on the best slope for the conditions each day. The drying room for ski gear was wonderful. The rooms are a good size for Japan, with lovely, modern appointments. A lovely comfy bed, but not much storage for clothes, as is often the case. We had our own little bathroom , with small bath and good shower, but there was also the option of private use of the big mineral bath, which was lovely after a day on the slopes. We took the breakfast and dinner option, and the meals were superb. A couple of evenings featured an indoor Japanese bbq pit, with fresh seafood, meat and veges - delicious!

We never quite got the hang of the little room heater, which seemed to turn itself off a bit randomly - but we didn’t ask for advice either, so this was probably an operator error rather than a genuine problem.

Staff are extremely accomodating. Very friendly and the food was awesome. Each night had a different meal and some evenings we used the “inori” (Japanese hearth to barbecue on). Really cool relaxing area down by the bar with an open fireplace. Great for recovery days and just chilling out. Transfers to all close snow resorts were not a problem and we will definitely go back.

The lodge is set up in a fusion of western and Japanese style. This means that the showers are quite small. Not really an issue but a little difficult for a tall man like me. But this is minor in my opinion.

The Lodge is very well presented with a variety of rooms - we had a queen with an ensuite - not really big but totally fine as you spend your time in the main lounge and dining area which is comfortable and relaxing. The staff are fun and helpful, as are the owners, Cheryene and Brett - they are a great team (Cheryenes' a chef and Brett does the transporting of guests and behind the scenes man stuff). The food was great - no need to go out and the wine and drinks in house were fab - they put on a wonderful outdoor drinks party around the fire with Glühwein (and beer or GnT's) which was divine.

Nothing to fault there - all 4 of us loved our stay :)

This place is amazing! The room was super clean, warm, and the bed was really comfortable. Good reliable WiFi throughout the lodge, and if you're a skier or snowboarder the drying room downstairs is perfect for storing your gear. The location is lovely and scenic but only a short drive to plenty of places to eat, the train station, and the various snow resorts; transfers to the resorts were easy to organise, and a few of the closer ones are offered free of charge (the further ones cost but are very reasonable). The traditional bath they have available is also incredible for a soak after a big day on the mountain! Chereyne and Brett are fantastic hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the area, very welcoming and happy to help with things like train station pickups, making local dinner reservations, making resort recommendations etc. They were also super accommodating of my dietary requirements (vegan) for all meals we ate at the lodge - amazing cooked breakfasts with continental options available too, and beautiful traditional barbeque dinners (they alternate with more western style meals and it's up to you which you want to eat in/out for). Myoko is a beautiful spot with some amazing snow to be enjoyed and it's super accessible from Tokyo, would absolutely recommend this place and hope we get the opportunity to come back!

Nothing, all great!

The staff at Myoko Forest Lodge were exceptional. They cooked great food, had excellent tips and advice about the area including good info on where the best snow might be found. We were treated like VIPs by everyone. The beds were super warm and cozy and the inhouse bath was divine.

A little far away to walk to the nearest village for dinner etc. although the lodge did provide paid transfers to dinner and was possible to eat in house.

All of the staff are amazing. Attentive to every need you may have. They couldn't have been more helpful. Cherene's background in teaching hospitality is so evident - not a detail missed. Brett has a wealth of experience and knowledge around the ski fields and Myoko in general. Always happy to pick up/drop off at the mountain locations...at virtually any time. Myoko Forest Lodge is a beautiful space to base yourself for all Myoko Kogen offers, whilst enjoying a family feel around communal meals with other travellers. PS - Don't miss out on the Seafood BBQ nights

The only minor negative was that I was a little challenged for space in my room for luggage etc. but no big deal

We had a lovely stay for 5 days at the lodge! We didn’t quite get the snow we hoped for, however, Brett & Chereyne were able to give us local knowledge and help us make the absolute most of our trip. The lodge was the perfect place for a rest day and to wind down after hitting the slopes. The food was fantastic - extremely high quality. The bar was excellently stocked. Thanks to all the wonderful staff there. We hope to make it back again soon!

Myoko forest lodge was a spectacular place to stay. The hosts as well as all of the staff are beyond helpful, the breakfast is extremely generous and delicious and the dinners if you choose to have them, are phenomenal (especially the twice weekly in-house grill-your-own extravaganza). I cannot fault any part of the lodge and staff, we had an amazing time, felt very welcomed and looked after, your room is tidied daily and the lodge itself is spotless. The bar is great, all the staff have great suggestions, we had a car with us but really could have done without as you can be dropped off/picked up to all nearby resorts. We would happily stay here again, absolutely phenomenal location.

Literally nothing

Myoko Forest Lodge is a fantastic place to stay for your next ski or snowboarding holiday in Japan. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome by our hosts Cheryene and Brett. The lounge and dining areas are light and airy with a roaring fireplace and lovely furnishings. The accommodation is excellent with an extremely comfortable king sized bed and ensuite And after skiing each day we loved having our own private Onsen experience in the on-site Ofuroya.

There is nothing we didn’t enjoy about the property. While I have normally booked ski in/ski out accommodation, the fact that your hosts, together with their staff, drive you to the resort you choose for skiing each day, including loading your skis onto their van for the 5 minute drive, and then picking you up at your designated time, makes for an easy trip. And being in such a beautiful setting nestled amongst snow covered trees in the forest and away from the crowds, made for an extremely restful holiday experience.

I really loved staying at Myoko Forest Lodge with Chereyne and Brett! It felt like staying at your favorite relative's house for a long weekend. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, the place is warm and cozy, and the food is world class. There was a different hot meal available every morning and plenty of tea, hot coffee, fresh bread from a local bakery, and a nice selection of jams and spreads to choose from. In the evenings, there's a different meal offered each night in the communal dining room where the fire is always burning and there's always a friendly face to pour you a drink and ask about your day. I also spent a decent amount of time curled up with a good book on one of the couches when I wasn't out playing in the snow. The bed was super comfortable and I slept like a log every night.
