The staff are very friendly and the other customers, Japanese or foreign are all very kind! I ate dinner there and the food was diverse, of good quality and price! The rooms and facilities are very good and clean it's very good value for the money! I especially like the familial atmosphere where everyone talks to each other and you can really come to know other people! For example throughout my stay I became friends with a few other solo travellers and we ended up visiting places together! As a first time solo traveller this place was a very pleasant surprise and I recommend it to anyone be it Japanese or foreigner, solo or family travellers! The placement is also very good, only a few minutes by subway from Sendai station and the area around is peaceful and beautiful, ideal for any late night walks! If I come back to Japan I'll definitely stay here again! It's my favourite memory from my trip!

The atmosphere of the place was amazing. Great common area where everyone hangs out and eats together. Host was very friendly and easy going, creating a cool/laid back vibe. Japanese travelers were welcoming and let me practice my Japanese. The craft beer and homemade jam was a nice touch.

Can't complain. Was one of the best guesthouses I've been to so far. Really quite a special place with great people.

The owner of the hostel and his family are very friendly and seem to be in a good mood all the time. The hostel itself is very clean and decorated in a comfortably warm way. It is also close to Nigatake station, from which you can reach the center of Sendai in 10 min.

The showers cannot be used after 22:30.

Relatively close to the station and the facilities were nice. My favorite part, however, was talking with the staff. Everyone, staff and other guests, was super nice and understanding making it my favorite part of my Japan trip so far. Especially how it was a great chance to meet lots of new people from all over Japan and the world and practice my Japanese with everyone working there. I would highly recommend!

Nothing, everything was amazing.

I loved my stay here. 20 minutes by JR from the centre of town, this is the perfect launchpad for exploring Sendai. The staff were kind, thoughtful and helpful, and provided great recommendations for local gyutan restaurants. They also nurture a lovely atmosphere in the common room. Shower and bathroom facilities were very clean, while I slept comfortably. Highly recommend. Thanks for having me!

Really a wonderful place. I actually decided to stay in Sendai for another day because the guesthouse was so lovely. The guesthouse is nice and cozy, but the staff, the guest, and the general atmosphere were incredible. Everybody was so lovely and friendly. The location is not very interesting, But it's about 15-20 mins from Sendai Station (10 mins train and 6 mins walk), and it totally worth it. Highly recommend.

amazing staff, really amazing, and for them alone it is worth staying. The bed was super comfy. the staff always talk with people at the living room so there is a good vibe and always a conversion you can join to. really good place.

the location is not very central, but 7 minutes on the train to Sendai station was good enough for me.

The UMEBACHI staff’s friendly and welcoming approach made you quickly feel at home. The guest house had a fantastic spirit and energy that made it very easy to socialise make new friends with the staff and the other guests!

Great staff and nice common room for a social experience.

There is no staff around in the afternoon and the house is closed. So you have to plan around that regarding check-in and where to keep your luggage in the meantime.

Super lovely staff, super welcoming. For those curious, google maps' directions are in fact, correct. It is not hard to find and very close to the station. Very cozy place and on my first night I was welcomed home at the end of the day by many friendly new faces.
