Amazing onsen hotel, very spacious japanese room. Onsen is open from 12:00 and is great. Staff speaks some english, some only japanese. The hotel is in the mountains, check the weather in advance if coming by car, we got (light) snow and it was a challenging ride

I booked the only breakfast option and got the western cheap breakfast instead of the fancy japanese one you get if you book half board

Magnificent dinner and breakfast, tgreat variety of Japanese dishes all prepared and presented with great care. Spacious room and facilities.

Onsen was very good but lacked the charm of other locations we have seen. For example, protruding pipes delivering hot spring water were described as a waterfall and the perimiters of the outdoor section were bounded by fences beyond which were visible the car park and other back drive sections of the hotel. Also, while in the setting of mountains, forests and river, a lot of industrial work in the area detracted from the natural beauty.

The baths are exceptional, there is also a large mixed bath. The staff is very professional, helpful and kind, the ladies at the meal services so nice and fun. English is spoken at the front desk and by staff of different countries. Everyone does their best so we have a great stay. One employee even took us to the morning market by car. The food was excellent, we ate in private rooms. The very convenient bus stop to TAKAYAMA. The area around the hotel is very beautiful The hotel is clean , comfortable, everything works well like wifi etc… We would definitely come back if in the area.

Nothing

1. Definitely value for money. Although the price isn't cheap, the nice onsen, immensely elaborate dinner and breakfast, and the wonderful room more than made up for the price. 2. It was in a beautiful location overlooking a river with hills nearby. 3. The bus from Takayama stops directly in front of the hotel. 4. I could visit the onsen as many times as I liked, and it was very enjoyable. They had both indoor and outdoor onsens. 5. The dinner was a literal feast, and the breakfast was a mini feast. The food exceeded all my expectations. 6. The room was very large by Japanese standards. 7. The view from the balcony was breathtakingly beautiful. 8. The futon bed was comfortable.

Nothing at all.

Very nice hotel , with the best Onsen I visited during my trip in Japan. Great experience for traditional japanesse breakfast and dinner, both were very tasty. We stayed 2 night, and they gave us different menus each day. And the onsen is amazing, many different hot bathtabs options with hot water with minerals. And there is even a an outdoor onsen where both men and women can be together (both covering with a tower in this area)

The hotel installations in general are old, specially the room, but they work ok

Beautiful onsen, with the option of mixed onsen (after you pass the male/female onsen only there is a room with the appropriate clothing to be worn in the mixed onsen area). Staff is the best, food experience was great, room was spacious and very clean. Perfect to relax one day with family. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel that departs from Takayama, and you can take the same bus on your way back (~70minutes) that departures at every 2 hours. There are other bus routes options more frequently but it will require a 10-ish minutes walk.

Fish tanks in the property need more attention. The fishes seemed stressed ☹️

beautiful place surrounded by the mountains, distant from the civilization; Japanese-style breakfast and dinner were gorgeous - every time I made photos before eating! Wonderful hot springs choice - both under a roof and with a great view on the mountains; many mountain trails and places of interest around

the hotel and facilities are a bit old

We stayed in a Japanese style family room. It was really nice and spacious enough for 5 people. The onsen area is great with a lot of different options. The japanese multi-course dinner and breakfast was really nice and interesting. We had a private room (it seems like every guests has that).

The onsens are closed from 9-12 every day for cleaning, which is really a shame if you have planned to have a day full of relaxation. Besides the onsen area, there aren't really any nice outside areas to sit and enjoy the sun and the mountains. We wanted to use the karaoke train the last evening, on the sign it said that it closed at 11pm. However, when we got there at 9pm, that told us that it closed at 9pm. This was really a shame and annoying.

The hotel is surrounded by nature, it is a very calm and beautiful atmosphere. The rooms are ample, in the tradional Japanese Ryokan style, full of amenities and with a really nice view. The staff was very nice and helpful. The onsen installations were superb.

We had a great experiences, nothing bad to report. Maybe, it is important to keep in mind that the hotel is far from the train station (over 1h from Takayama) and there aren't shops or restaurants around, the next village is 5km away.

We got a traditional room and we loved it ❤️ the dinner was amazing, we were so full we couldn't move. It was our first time trying japanese multi-course traditional dinner and breakfast, and the lady serving us didn't speak English, so it was kinda difficult for us 😅. Still an amazing experience though. Loved the Onsen, also our first time trying that. The bus goes from Takayama right in front of the hotel, if it goes to bear park,it's a 10 minute walk downhill. I hope we'll visit again some day.
