Akihiro and Mariko, the owners, were wonderful! They helped us carry our bags up the stairs when we arrived. They could speak English well too Akihiro even helped us call another accomodation in Shirakawa-go to book us a night's stay as we couldn't find anything available online. The rooms were extremely spacious for Tokyo. We got a single and a twin bedroom and they both had plenty of space. The heater was great and worked well in the cold. The shower was hot and had a good spray. They provided room service and towel change if we needed it. We were provided pajamas, water bottles, toothbrush, razor, hair brush as well and the usual soap, shampoo, and conditioner. They also had umbrellas to borrow. The coin laundry, convenience store and supermarkets were basically next to or opposite the hotel too. The walking distance to busier part of town was about a 5-10 minute walk and then probably another 5-10 minutes of navigating the station itself. The roads were flat and easy to walk on though so not really an issue. I was travelling with my parents who are 60 and they were fine with it. Overall, a fantastic stay for the price and assistance of Akihiro and Mariko. Will definitely return here!!

Nothing!

Room is bright and clean. It's surprisingly spacious, so no problem laying out our luggage on the floor. Strong Wi-Fi, ample electric sockets. Mineral water provided daily. Friendly owners, they could communicate with English, and help us with the luggage up the room, but note that there's no elevator. Just a few steps to two convenience stores and a supermarket. Location is fairly pleasant, but would get livelier as you walk towards exit C6 of Ikebukuro Station, and you could see more restaurants, convenience stores, drug store, bento store, and more. But to get to the very core of the station you might need to cater about 15 mins on foot. Quite value for money, considering the size of the room, and its location which is not that far away from the station.

No view as the window is frosted glass. Position of the air-con is not ideal, just need to stop the air flow from swinging down onto the beds. Thought of using its luggage storage after check-out, but decided not to after considering the walking distance from the station, and the need to retrieve before the reception close.

When I booked twice this hotel I hoped it would be nice so that when coming back I wouldn’t need to rebook another stay. And thankfully not only it was great the first time, coming back a second time was like returning to a secondary home. Staff prepared the room on time and early for my arrival after discussing the times, and everything was as great as the first time. Not only that, I could sleep in longer as now the election time was over, no more politician speech blasted in the early morning!

Just be mindful that staying in Ikebukuro equals to hearing police and ambulance sirens very often. It’s a big district and has the 3rd busiest station in Tokyo after all. Avoid listening to touts that roam around trying to lure unaware or gullible tourists, as they might sometimes roam close by in the connecting streets a eeking clients.

the hotel is right next to a coin laundry, is on multiple floors without elevator and located on the north western part of Toshima City. Although seeming distant from the train station it was just a walk away of a few minutes from one of the many entries, allowing me every morning to quickly walk there and travel wherever needed. Owner and his wife were absolutely lovely, I cannot stress enough how patient, accommodating and nice to talk to they were, providing information and listening to anything needed, along preparing the room in advance for a check in after first requesting it here.

This isn’t about the property itself, rather some of the people in Ikebukuro late at night possibly being very noisy, or otherwise, if you choose to stay in April like me, during election time, be ready to wake up to several speeches of politicians.

Very friendly couple! They knew english really well! The room was perfect, very large for Tokyo. Had a TV and well working aircon. The beds were also very comfy. The bathroom seemed new too with a cool bidet, great water pressure from shower head. Smoking room in building was a plus too! The station is about 8-10 min walk, right on JR yamanoto line, so easy access to everywhere. Amazing Stay! 10/10🔥

No dislikes about this stay. One thing that I did miss was either a microwave or a toaster oven, but I can understand why they wouldnt have them. Still a great place, lots of restaurants to go to anyways. :)

The innkeepers are a warm and very hospitable couple. I enjoyed my welcoming conversation with them immensely. I was also impressed by Akihiro waiting in front of the hotel to check me in and with helping me to bring my heavy luggage to my room. The accommodation was basic but there were some thoughtful touches like ammenities (toothbrush, slippers, water bottle, ect. that made my stay very comfortable.) And I must say that everything was immaculate. The couple did an outstanding job!

There was no lift. Lugging luggage up and down the stairs was difficult.

It’s located at a very convenient place! Around 7-8 min walk from Ikebukuro station. Downstairs there’s a Coin Laundry, and across the street there’s a Lawson convenience store. Despite without an elevator in the hotel, but the owner is very very passionate and kind who would help you with you luggage during check in and check out. Also the room is actually quite spacious enough to open a 29 inch suitcase totally to pack. There’s also a small bathtub and basic toiletry supplies. Definitely will choose to stay here again when visiting Japan.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and communicated in english. There is a coin laundry (+dryer) with english instructions, super easy to use and no need to buy any detergents. Very clean and comfortable.

The minor disadvantage would be that more touristic nightlife is located in shinjuku, shibuya and roppongi, which although close by subway, one would need taxis after midnight. Still a good location though as there is still things to do in Ikebukuro.

Family managed hotel with wonderful people. Very kind and helpful. Room size was decent with enough space for two suitcases. Amenities are provided and wifi speed is very good. Location is central, with supermarket and laundry just next to the hotel. Highly recommended.

No complaints. Got a little noisy in the night in the rooms facing the road, but a pair of earbuds solved the issue swiftly.

The place was impeccably clean. Very spacious. The owners were super nice. Took my bags up and down the stairs.

It’s all fine and I felt safe but be aware that you are near a red light district. Also, it’s almost like just being in your own apartment. The owners are only there to check people in and clean. It’s fine if you are very independent. I didn’t see anyone in the building for the two days I stayed there.
