The location was excellent! It is right in town, within easy walking distance to the train station and all points of interest. The amenities exceeded expectations for a hostel, toothbrushes, 2 types of sunscreen, free towel, makeup wipes for the ladies, cotton swabs, even mouth wash..! Shared bathrooms were meticulously clean and the entire facility looks recently remodeled yet retains the original charms of its machiya roots. Also loved the yukata rental which comes with tabi socks, wooden geta, and a furoshiki to carry your towel to the onsens in.
I had no concerns, it was a fantastic stay!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kinosaki Knot, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! First off, the place is incredibly spacious - this includes the rooms themselves, which provide ample space for relaxation and comfort. Its convenience to the train station is a significant plus, making arrivals and departures a breeze. However, what truly sets Kinosaki Knot apart is the meticulous attention to care and cleanliness. The amenities provided to guests are thoughtful and high-quality, including a marvelous peach-flavored mouthwash that was a delightful surprise. It's the little details like this that truly make a difference in hospitality, and Kinosaki Knot nails it perfectly. I also must commend the property for its excellent value for money. The comfort of the futons added to the quality of my sleep, ensuring that I was well-rested each day. Everything about my stay was perfect, from the onsen hopping in Kinosaki to the exquisite dining experiences, especially the steamed winter crab - it was divine. Staying at Kinosaki Knot was a beautiful experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for top-notch accommodation with a keen eye for detail and an exceptional guest experience. Thank you for making my visit to Kinosaki unforgettable!
Everything was perfect!

I love Kinosaki Knot. It had traditional vibes but everything looked new and facilities were modern and comfortable. I love the location which was just minutes from the station and literally at the beginning of the Kinosaki onsen area. It was very clean, the tatami flooring had a wonderful smell and for a budget guest house, the amenities were beyond my expectations. Free tea, free towel rental and disposal amenities outside the toilets. They had kimono rental too so that you could go onsen hopping in true Kinosaki style. I highly recommend this place.
It is excellent as it is.

Kinosaki Knot was a clean, organized, and well-kept hostel - I visited during mid-December and had only one bunkmate in the shared women's dorm. She was great - we hit it off and grabbed dinner and wandered around town together. The beds were really comfortable and clean, the common space had hot water, tea, and coffee, and the bathrooms were also clean and had small amenities. My host was great - very welcoming, and quick to respond in case I needed anything. This hostel is also very close to the train station (not that Kinosaki is large - you can walk anywhere you need to go) and I found it handy since I had to catch a 7:00 train the next morning.
I imagine that if they were completely booked, my dorm room might have gotten a little crowded - there were 6 beds in a configuration with 3 bunk beds. But, given the respectful culture in Japan, it still felt very workable. Since it was just me and one other person, we each had plenty of space. You can always inquire about how booked this place it and I'm sure the host would let you know.

Great value for money in such a special location that can get expensive. It’s located on one end of Kinosaki town near train station, and walkable distance to all 7 onsens. There’s a live status showing which onsen is open and how full they are on the official website. As a solo female traveler, I stayed in a female-only room with 3 bunk beds (fit for 6), luckily there were just 3 of us so it’s really comfortable. Personally I slept better here than in a capsule hotel, the tatami mat smells nice and everyone has been respectful of privacy and silence. The host was very responsive and kind, he made the stay enjoyable. Would recommend.

If you’re thinking about going to Kinosaki - book it! very convenient location for wandering around the town. Comfy beds, clean bathrooms and a nice sociable communal space downstairs. Super quiet at night so I slept very well after visiting the onsens. The man at reception had perfect English and was very smiley and helpful. He advised me to get the 1 day onsen pass (¥1500) and they provide towels for onsen use. You have to visit goshonoyu it’s so beautiful and the spring is the perfect temperature. Also an option to hire yukata which most people stroll around in in the evening.

We loved the room, traditional looking with comfortable beds. We hired kimonos to head to the onsens with, and we’re supported to understand the etiquette. Everything was great, couldn’t fault it. We even got a lift to the station on our final day as the rain was heavy.
Nothing, we were happy with everything.

Our room (private Japanese style twin room) was comfortable, there was a small wardrobe to store luggage and hang up clothes. Tea, coffee, hot water and a microwave were available for guests. There’s also books and games in the common area. The hostel have yukata robes for hire for 1000 yen, definitely recommend doing this if you plan to visit the various public baths in the town.
The room smelt a bit eggy. Not necessarily a bad thing but something to be aware of, there are lots of rules about which shoes/ slippers to wear in different areas of the property, this is very common in Japan but was more strictly enforced in this hostel than others I have stayed in and took a bit of getting used to.
