Yeng Keng Hotel

We stayed at the Yeng Keng for 9 nights and it was one of the nicest, loveliest hotels we've ever stayed in. The building itself has been lovingly restored, with period furniture in the public spaces and beautiful tile and artwork. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Chulia Suite which felt more like a little one bedroom apartment which was nice because of our long stay. The staff were available 24/7 and helped us out with some local information and were really friendly and kind. Also, Chulia Street is kind of a big bar/nightlife area, but our room was very quiet - we were never awoken by loud noises, except for the Imam's prayers at a nearby Mosque. The Yeng Keng is fabulous - highly recommended!

A great location in the middle of the old town handy to everything including lots of great food and museum attractions. The manager and staff are friendly and professional folks who looked after us very well. It made me happy to feel so welcome. I loved the design of the historical hotel building, which is extremely comfortable and well maintained. There is a wonderful atmosphere about the place.. We loved being able to enjoy the pool in the afternoons after getting very warm wandering Georgetown in the mornings.

It is an expensive place to stay, but worth it for the location and boutique style of accommodation. It is a hotel to remember and appreciate, not just sleep in and forget.

The staff were super welcoming and helpful to our queries. The room was tidy and clean.The interior of the hotel was beautifully decorated as well. The location was really central, super accessible to most places. Easy to explore about around by walking places. Plenty of food options available.

The shower head in our room looked like it was due for a baking soda and vinegar clean but not a biggie. We stayed in the downstairs rooms (superior room, I believe), we could hear some noises and thumping though the ceiling from the upstairs guests, something to think about if you're a light sleeper or sensitive to noise. Overall great experience.

It is a heritage hotel so you will emerged in the Malaysian culture. It located in a nice area and you can walk to the most interesting areas of Georgetown. There are many restaurants, cultural building, pubs, temples and parks around. There is a restaurant within the hotel and complimentary breakfast which is really delicious! Even thought it is around the tourist areas, it’s quiet and calm, you can’t hear outside noises when you are in your room. There is a nice swimming pool which was not busy, so I could relax there. The beds are comfortable, air con works well, there is fridge and water available. Bathroom is clean with products available and the towels are soft. Sooo good! Room service happens everyday and sheets smell really nice. it’s super clean. There is also a safe to keep the valuables things. I love the check out: 12:30! so you definitely have time to stay longer on your bed on your last day if you want to. You will not regret of staying there. I have a delightful experience.

The property is as advertised. Love how the place is decorated and how private it feels. The location was amazing for tourists and its not too noisy at night (we could hear music from a bar but it wasn’t too loud). The bed was comfortable, the toilet was clean and the staffs were very friendly. We were allowed to leave our luggages at the hotel after checking out

The breakfast selection was limited and they wouldn’t replenish the food if you go slightly later around 9.30am. The pillows provided were too soft for us.

This is a smart, upper-class hotel in the centre of one of George Town’s main streets. The hotel is set back off the road, so no problem with traffic noise. Rooms are nicely furnished and all services work pretty-near impeccably. Rooms have a helpful map of the main sights in this UNESCO World Heritage city (tip: don’t miss the Blue Mansion) The hotel’s attractive breakfast room doubles by night as a restaurant/bar with a very good menu. Party animals will find plenty of amusement in the pubs and bars along Chulia Street at night.

As described, the hotel is smart, upper-class and very well run. However the bars and clubs along Chulia Streeet can attract all sorts of crowds. Be aware that by evening-time parts of the area can become rather seedy.

Location in Georgetown was very well placed. And the hospitality of Yeng Keng was excellent, from housekeeping to reception staff, including a sumptious breakfast comprising a full english, yoghurt, fresh fruits, penang kueh, with coffee/tea and juice. The swimming pool was very welcome for dipping to cool off after a hot and humid day of sightseeing. The aircon and fan were working superbly in my room despite it facing the hot afternoon sun. And my double room was a good size & its bathroom was well lit and clean. The various indoor spaces (downstairs lobby & upstairs hall) and outdoor spaces (front patio & poolside) were fantastic for our group to gather and chill. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the personal care and attention, and very warm touch from all Yeng Keng staff esp manager Ms Yeoh is highly commendable! Keep up the good work!

The pool length at about 16m was not long enough for swimming laps

The hotel is right in the center of all good food. The night market on Carnarvon street is 2 min away and Kimberly night food market is 10min walking away. We loved the heritage building itself and the rooms are all very comfortable. Hotel staff were very warm and gave us a room upgrade on the 2nd night which was a very nice gesture.

The hotel room rate came with breakfast but probably not necessary considering there are so many food options just outside of the hotel.

Beautiful vibrant hotel - everything was great, especially the staff. The manager Raj was exceptionally helpful with recommendations and generally happy to help. The breakfast was good. The location is excellent - stones throw a way from a-lot of key Georgetown eateries and things to see. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved the feel of this heritage hotel. It was elegant and charming. Nice that it was set back from the road front. . We swam in the pool everyday. Good to cool off. Breakfast was a bonus with good variety. Everything was very clean. The location is fabulous with lots of places to eat nearby. I recommend this place.
