June 2024

I booked a reasonably priced bed in a quite basic four-bed room. The property is situated right in the city's historic core, practically around the corner from Zocalo Square. That proved to be an ideal base for going on day trips to visit and explore Tlatelolco, Xochimilco, Coyoacán (Frida Kahlo Museum), Guadalupe Shrine, Teotihuacan, and so on. I was alone in the room and among the very few guests staying there in mid-March. The whole place had an air of an abandoned ghost town about it, not that I minded. The neighbouring restaurant completely blew my mind with its lush green foliage covering every inch of the overhead space above the yard. The view from the terrace above the green canopy of the treetops was absolutely astounding, out of this world.

Breakfast was quite modest and rudimentary, not to say stingy: two slices of bread and a banana (picture included).

In my eyes, the couple bad reviews on here don't do the place justice. When I arrived at the main gate at night a kind security guard walked me all the way to the reception, where a very polite receptionist handled my checkin quickly and gave me all the instructions I needed to find my room. The room itself is rather simple, it only has beds and lockers, but everything worked and was clean. As the windows open to the courtyard, there was very little noise. The bathroom is well dimensioned for a hostel of this size (6 showers, 6 sinks, 6 WC) and the water pressure was perfect. Also, you get a big comfy towel at checkin. The breakfast that's included is a simple one, sure, but you can't expect a big buffet at this price, and the coffee was surprisingly good. So yes, all in all I'm very happy with my stay, felt safe and well taken care of all the time and did get some good sleep. However, if you're looking for a party/community hostel, this is not the right one for you.

NO BEDBUGS, but giant mosquitoes outside at nite. i'm prepared with Repellant and applied a line around the mattress....just in case. very bright lighting.ALL VERY QUIET! NOT A PARTY HOSTEL. 4 SINGLE BEDS!!! No bunks are old bones-friendly.

*** guest checked in Saturday @11p. he SNORED! I woke up @1.30a-2.30a-3.30a-4.30a-5.30a-6.30-7.30a and told him to ROLLOVER. he left Sunday for a late nite flight to Yucatan. 2. wrote a MEMO to Owner-Management to convert ALL incandescent lights to LED to save $1,000's. 3. Please ADD: faucets, showers, and toilets WASTE WATER! High-flow should be reduced. Hot shower water runs COLD too long. simple changes will save $1,000's. 4. DECEMBER 2012-- Grand Opening Month-- FREE WELCOME DRINK. AND Full Breakfast Buffet -- now only 2 slices white bread-butter-jam-average coffee, fruit: banana, apple, or pear. ONLY 1. 5. STILL 9.5/10*.

The location is exceptional if you want to visit anything downtown. The house is pretty impressive, otherwise the room beds were nice, and just 1 level (no bunk beds in my room). And the best shower I honestly had in Mexico. With amazing water pressure and as much hot water as I wanted, was really hard to get out of it after a long day out :D It was very silent for a downtown hostel, due to the room being in the "inner yard".

The room was without windows, so it felt it was lacking fresh air and daylight. Also, the bathrooms and showers are technically outside, so with Mexico city weather getting pretty chilly in the night, it gets pretty cold to go and wash up before bed or during a night run to the WC.

Great location, great price. I WILL RETURN.

I wish there was a little more signage on arrival. It's way in the back on the first floor. First I went upstairs, with all of my luggage, upps. All in all loved the funky decor, but I felt like the bathroom floors should have been tiled, for cleanliness.

location, price and felt very safe as was in a wider complex

we understand it was a budget stay but felt it was style over substance - more amenities needed in the room eg hooks to hang clothes and towels on, hairdryer or communal hairdryer, bedside lights, plugs by bed. also private room that we stayed in was right outside main bathroom area so was noisy.

Location and design are great. People who work in the kitchen were very nice and helpful. Lovely terrace on the top but without wifi there. The place is quiet clean.

Showers have no shelves, and just 1 hook. Nowhere to put your things but on the wet floor. Reception is almost always empty. Music is always playing in the common area. No place to sit quietly with a laptop. Outlets at the bed can't hold the plug. No light at the bed.

Quite good location in the center, still quiet from the streets. Beds are comfortable. Even though on top of a bunk it's just a small divider between 2 people,so that can be weird. The rooms are spacious.

There is no wifi in the rooms. The breakfast is just 2 slices of bread, and some fruit, that if you're lucky. The hostel is cheap so you cannot really expect much more. It did not have a very social vibe.

Nicely designed hostel. Well thought through and works great. Nice styling. Book this place and you will be happy. Maybe a little dark with the dim lighting, but also cool too. Wifi in the rooms is pretty poor so you'll have to keep going outside to the common "atrium" to get wifi signal.

- Wifi has poor coverage - No free driving water provided - plugs in the main common area are not working - squeaking door hinges like most hostels ;)
