Selina is great value for money for the ROOM. But beware, they'll screw you for other services. Everything they offer from beverages to activities are at least as expensive as what you'd pay elsewhere, but it's almost always significantly more expensive. Which is maybe fair, but avid hostel visitors would expect a hostel to be sort of "your friend that helps you navigate the local area by showing you how not to get screwed" kinda. Selena is the screwer here. I've been to 3 different Selena locations, and it's been true for all. If you're fine with that and buy stuff elsewhere, Selena is a very fine choice!

Beautiful place, great pool, free activities (yoga etc) great big kitchen and the most comfortable room I stayed in (they had AC, 2 pillows, really good bathroom, big spacious rooms) really just like a hotel feeling. If you want to treat yourself that’s the place ! lots of places to chill and socialize & balcony in each room. great pool great after a day at the beach.
it’s far from the beach but not too far and I always managed to find some ride (but if you’re staying for a very long time could be tiring and do this walk everyday). and the second thing it’s pricy (just like any selina) I was lucky to get some discount from my genius level 3. but really worth the comfort (stayed for 1 night). small Tip: do your shopping in San Juan no supermarket in madera hammock in my balcony was broken (please fix)

The staff were all so nice and made the stay better. The front desk staff were very helpful and the kitchen staff were friendly. Close to the beach if you want to surf. Music was good. There's a kitchen you can cook your own food but I didn't use it. The restaurant food was decent but not exceptional, tho I didn't really try that many things.
It's a bit far from everything, unless you're there to surf. I had a bike so this wasn't a big deal. There are regular buses that go to town tho. The hot water in my bathroom sink didn't work at all, and the hot water in the shower was barely present, but functional. More hammock chairs in the common area would have been good too. The guy at the front desk accidentally charged my booking to my credit card, even though he also took my cash when I checked in. I believe this was an honest mistake and he tracked me down and refunded the extra payment before I even knew it happened, so I feel bad even mentioning it, he and everyone else were so nice.

Dear Selina Maderas My name is Midori “Verónica” Takeuchi. My husband and I stayed at Selina Maderas in Nicaragua 11-15 of October. I am writing this msg to thank your staff members at Selina Maderas for their excellent and warm service. Miss Suyan from the lobby, Maynor and Kieth from the restaurant, and other staff members that I can’t remember their names, thank you for your hospitality. They took a very good care of us. As my husband and I arrived at Selina Maderas, we said to each other “It’s worth it to travel all the way to Nicaragua from Spain”. Selina Maderas is the true paradise. Tropical flowers and butterflies. Miss Suyan from the reception was helpful, and she recommended us to change our room to a bigger one. I don’t know if I have her name correctly. We had a reservation for the Teepee. We had a lot of luggage since we were traveling from Spain. Teepee seems interesting and fun. I was gonna do it for the experience, but we would not have had enough space to accommodate ourselves comfortably. Our room had a nice view. The kitchen staffs were flexible and kind. The chef lady accommodated my husband’s request that he cannot eat certain things. I had been in Nicaragua before for my work, but this was our first time in Nicaragua on vacation. We loved it, and we plan to come back next year and stay at the Selina again.

This Selina hostel was one of the most beautiful we have seen: it has a nice pool area and the accommodations look very pretty. They also offer free yoga in the evening.
The standard rooms are quite simple in that doors are very heavy (and don’t close well), the front door had to be locked to close it (which is a minor hassle) and the bathroom door shuts itself (which is inconvenient). However, we received an upgrade to the Suite+ room. This was absolutely the best room we got in 4 months of traveling: spacious, balcony, etc. Just fantastic!

We were really impressed with this hostel, it was a very comfortable place to spend a week and we easily could have stayed longer. The standard room was spacious, great pool, and the free morning yoga was a real bonus. Beautiful place to be. We would recommend bringing as much food as you can to cook your meals in the communal kitchen, as both the hostel and nearby restaurants are expensive with average food.
Really thin walls, can hear everything from your neighbours, which is a shame and strange as it seems recently and well built. We paid a discounted price but the rooms are expensive, still not bad value if you make use of the facilities. Would be nice if the bar had better drink and food deals, and would encourage a more social atmosphere

Slept in a tipi which was super cozy. When we arrived, the mosquito net in the first tipi we got couldn't be closed, so staff helped us move to another one. Facilities in the main building were great and the kitchen was well-equipped. Drinkable water was always available for free. The swimming pool and the zip line were a nice plus! Only 15 minute walk to the Maderas beach.
The facilities (showers and toilets) next to the tips weren't really well-equipped and often dirty.

Paradise. Incredible common areas! Dream place. Double private rooms are so recommended, so big and fancy! We had the best time there, we didn't want to leave . Maderas and Marsella beach walking distance, so location was perfect for us. You have a little shop next to the restaurant down the road, where you can buy some frozen meat and veggies (for drinks you go to Machete) so you don't need to buy meals or drinks all the time.
Food and drinks very expensive, but really nice!! Power cuts too often, lost wifi in our room for a couple of days...

Location is remote but very tranquil. (Don’t go if that’s not what as there is nothing in the area but Selina and two remote beaches.) The usual Selina features like pool, resto/bar, common kitchen, AC, cinema room, etc.
Dorms seem teeny bit more run down than usual other Selinas. Clean but not as clean as usual Selina standard (ie. cobwebs with dead bugs in bathroom). Restaurant menu very limited and pricy (compared to other San Juan eateries). Ordered a burger; half was tasty; other half was mushy and turned out to be still quite raw when I had a closer look under bright lights. They did handle the situation well by apologizing and not charging for the meal.

The Selina Maderas is in walking distance to a nice beach (also for surfing). The staff was very friendly, the cocktails were nice and we really enjoyed the swimming pool and the overall atmosphere. The kitchen is well-equipped and clean. It was nice to stay a little outside from buisy San Juan. For those who want to spend a day in the town there is a shuttle available to get there :-)
To be honest, the tipis were really overpriced (at least during the Semana Santa). Prepare yourself for cozy 6m² where you almost don't have any space to unpack your backpack. As it was often very windy, the mosquito net as well as the blinds behind the door kept flying everywhere. It would help if there was a possibility to fix the blinds to the door! Nevertheless, it was definitely a new experience to sleep in tipi like that. Moreover, the bathrooms would probably look a little better if there were some toilet brushes available (even though I have to say that the staff cleaned the toilets regularly).
