The Posada is in a lovely building which was originally a 16th century convent. The cool cloisters are still there and a small chapel as are the high ceilinged rooms. Some of these rooms have been deliberately left only partly furnished, recalling their previous use and providing a welcoming cool areas in contrast to the summer heat outside! There are extensive gardens and huge ivy covered trellises, particularly around the pool area, again providing a retreat from the sun! The room was pleasant and the marbled bathroom large. We had dinner on the terrace each evening, with subtle lighting contributing to the romantic atmosphere. The buffet breakfast is excellent.

The dinner menu is rather limited so that it was a shame when some items were unavailable. The large, square swimming pool has been created using a plastic liner and the underlying ground was very uneven producing areas that were too shallow to swim in. Rom

What a fascinating historic building - a converted convent/abbey, complete with cloisters and chapel. Comfortable room and secure parking. We had a delicious dinner, (despite being the only diners) and a good breakfast. Being winter, it was very quiet (only two rooms booked in the whole place, as far as we could tell), which gave it a slightly surreal feeling, which I'm sure would not be the case when busy and bustling and the gardens are in full bloom.

Beja, as a town, is pretty run down and, as one shop owner said to me "c'est pauvre et triste" (it's poor and sad) but it's important to see 'real life' away from the glitz of the cities and the coast.

The front desk staff is super friendly and helpful. They called a cab, informed about the price, and were over all very thoughtful and welcoming. The location is great, and the building is magnificent.

The restaurant has not too many options for vegetarians/vegans. Though I was assured when I reserved a table all the options would be there; there was just one to choose and this was really poor quality. When I asked for some vegetables it was readily brought, but it was fried canned corn. Overpriced too. There is a great vegetarian restaurant nearby with delicious food but only open for lunch.

Pousada is in a good location. Plenty of on-site parking next door. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was a pretty good size and bathroom had everything you need. Bar and restaurant area lovely. Very nice to be able to wander around the cloisters. Good breakfast options.

Food in the restaurant was very poor I'm afraid. Service was good and wine good too but main courses were really quite disappointing.

The breakfast was really good, most of the staff were courteous and friendly. The hotel is beautiful with interesting rooms and a lovely garden. In the middle of Beja so close to lots of historical places, shops and restaurants, but also very quiet.

We were there a week and the dinner menu never changed, we are in the restaurant for dinner once and were not that impressed with the food. The pool was really sorry and full of leaves maybe they didn't expect anyone to use it at that time of year but one lady did . Had the pool been clean I would have gone in myself. Also the beds were really hard.

The room change we were given was excellent and the restaurant was good value

When we arrived the room we were given had an electrical fuse blown but we were given a much better one . The town unfortunately has become VERY rundown and lots of young men roaming around in groups made me feel unsafe.

This was a traditional convent conversion hotel great to stay in for one night, fabulous building and each bedroom individual experience

The hotel staff tried their best, but the distance between bar restaurant, and tables was colossal so sometimes difficult to organise warm food. The restaurant tried, but was somewhat poor in its presentation.

it was nice! our plans had changed after reservation but Pousada Convento de Beja staff made a great job and helped us to change booking breakfast was good you will find whatever you want the hotel looks really magnificent so you have to make a dozen of photos :)

maybe swimming pool because I though it will be heated pool but it's not not a big deal anyway it was end of the September and we reached the pool at 7pm so you just need to know that

Location. Internet and breakfast are good.

Lack of more elevators instead of one and distant. The offered executive room was not suitable for business due to weak lighting, lack of convenient electrical sockets and the narrow office.

I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel. The room was big and the upgrade to an upper tier was very nice. Did not use the pool or any other facilities.

There was nobody at the reception upon arrival and there was some extended waiting time. Calling the reception also did not get any answer.
