Breakfast was excellent. The staff were very kind and helpful, especially the breakfast staff. The front desk staff were also very kind, cheerful and respectful. They were always ready to help.

Bathroom was not cleaned well, especially bidet when I got the room the first day. From second day, it was cleaned well. There was no bottled water in the room. The carpets had no padding. No chair or table to put the computer and work. Plug points were not conducive to charge the computers while working. If the intent is to just stay and enjoy (and not bring work), this place is excellent.

The house was once own by an important Portuguese writer and has stayed in the family since the XVII century and it still feels as a family home rather than a guest house. You will find a warm hostess, quietness and a beautiful night sky on a clear night.

It's a shame that the grounds need some maintenance and the gardens have not been restored to their former beauty. I imagine in the XXI century it is not cheap for a family to restore what three centuries ago was a wealthy family home. It has the charm a modern hotel can't provide though.

My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Toural in Guimarães for one night during a holiday in Portugal. The hotel is located in the old city and a few minutes’ walk from all the main points of interest. Guimarães was our favourite city during our tour of northern Portugal. Our room was clean and comfortable with a separate seating area and a great view of the Toural square. The staff were amazing and the breakfast was very good. Recommended.

We struggled to find the entrance, even with our GPS but once found, the staff were very helpful finding a free parking space for our car in the adjacent street.

Well located in a quiet edge of the old town, and close to shops and restaurants. It has a few parking spots. Our room was spacious, quiet and with good temperature control. Wifi was fast and reliable. The staff and especially the hotel manager are friendly and helpful.

Although breakfast is well served, they offer no alternatives but eggs, bread, fruit salad, orange juice and coffee. There is no buffet. The bed mattress was either too soft or too old.

Breakfast at Toural is NOT a buffet served but through the waiter. I, personally, like it. The room is big enough with a modest working place inside. Location is central.

Water supply in the bathroom is not good enough: neither pressure nor water-heating. There is no electric kettle, so you cannot make a tea in the room.

Both the room and service were excellent. The room was ridiculously spacious; I have never seen a hotel room with such a large bathroom and living area. Staff were extremely attentive and the included breakfast was incredibly varied and filling. The location is also pretty much exactly in the centre of Guimarães; you only need walk out of the hotel and you are there.

Location was PRIME. Breakfast was as tasty as generous and also served with a friendly sense of humor. The room, although on a very busy street was quiet thanks to the double windows. And enough good cannot be said for the hotel staff. Everyone was soooooo welcoming and friendly.

Definitely the parking was a hugh headache. The hotel info said parking was available, and it was but it took quite a while to find out where to park in one of a few spots available, after going around and around the area a few times. Now that I know where to park, I would drive to the hotel for a stay again. Better preparatory parking info for customers would be a help. And yes, I know this is prime, historic area, so was prepared for tight quarters.

great place to stay! right in the middle of the old town!

only issue was one of acoustics! if someone coughed in the reception area ( I think) one could clearly hear it it our room! My wife and I were woken two or three times during the night due to noise and bad insulation!

The staff is fluffing friendly and organised.

Unfortunately the church rings its bells everyday (including Sundays) very early, like 7, 8 o’clock so many times and you can hear them loud from the bedroom. Idk if it’s everyday, but that’s my experience :) Sounds really bad but it’s not that bad. just keep that in mind

Tucked back off the street by a plaza the hotel is perfectly located! Everyone was so welcoming and nice. The servers in the breakfast room were exceptional, especially Gentil who had a great sense of humor and kept the coffee coming! It was so nice to have a served breakfast rather than the buffet most hotels offer. The room was bright, quiet and large- with a mini fridge!

Really nothing except the hot water in the shower got cold a couple of times - must have been a high usage period!
