The hotel is very pleasant, well preserved and restored. We are glad we stayed here. The location is very nice, particularly the reasonable amount of tourists compared to other over touristy places in Madeira. Santo da Serra is a real local town that we love, especially the restaurants and bars with local food. If lou like something fancier the golf club restaurant nearby is lovely with excellent food at reasonable prices and fantastic scenery. The weather was pleasantly cool. The hotel breakfast is wonderful and service was very good. Ample and easy parking and easy access on foot to local treks and to by car to the airport and all Madeira locations.

The hotel is very nice and clean. Parking is good and private but open air and has space for all guests. Personal is helpful for everything you need. The room has excellent high end amenities for hygiene. The hotel has small number of rooms so it very relaxing. Beds and pillows are very comfortable and excellent.

Not too much glasses in the restaurant for breakfast. Don’t be shy to ask if you need some for a drink. Bring warmer clothes because the hotel is high in the mountain and if there is fog and mist, it can be cold (17-22 °C)

The view from the room to the sea is fantastic! The stuff is very polite and they are seeking for your well being. Thank you very much! The blue sparkling wine was amazing which was served to the balkony when we arrived and the welcome drink was really nice. The concierge women were very nice and they helped a lot!

The humidity was very high and no air conditioning system is installed. The bathroom is a little bit small. The TV channels can be very hardly find. If you pull out the card from the store it ceases the electricity in the plugs as well, so you are unable to charge any equipment if you do not stay in the hotel. The sauna is too small and old and it is valid for the jacuzzi as well.

Clean, quiet and comfortable with very helpful and available staff. Good choice of food for breakfast. Good indoor pool, sauna and small gym. Bedrooms well set out and with tea/coffee and small fridge. Overall a lovely place to stay

Only very minor things: bedroom had very little natural light (a big window and small balcony but the high vegetation is very close). There was not always space in their restaurant to book dinner even if you didn't mind when to eat. Although the village centre is close (600m?) there is no pavement and so it did not feel a safe walk & we drove.

Proximity of Golf, as well as Funchal and levadas-You cannot be bored Overall I’d really recommend this hotel for everyone that wants to have calm peaceful and most relaxing Madeira experience, not only golf players. we stayed 4 days and had the room on the same floor as the swimming pool, very comfortable. the hotel and the rooms are very nice, everything is clean, spacious room, large bed and outside the room there is a small green corner with a table and chairs. the pool is heated and covered, with sauna. there is a small and functional gym, a hobby space with billiards. lovely staff. possibility of having an aperitif and English tea. there is also the possibility of booking lessons at the golf club.

There is parking but it's a bit small.

The hotel is really nice, off the beaten track just as we like it. A charming historical building with good modern facilities attached. The food was really good, and the staff helpful. Would definitely recommend it for those who like to be away from the busy towns, and like smaller hotels. Definitely need a hire car to take full advantage of exploring the island from this ideal base.

the main staff has a superior attitude very small spa area there was no toaster at hand, you had to ask the staff to toast your bread the coffee was horrible after check out, they bombarded me with messages for feedback, having a few more days of vacation, it was very disturbing. compared to the price of this service, you can find something much better and where you are treated much nicer, on the island

Very comfortable beds. Beautiful location on top of mountain. Quiet and calm place. Close to golf course and you can use it for small fee. Beautiful place and lovely people.

Pool was open from 8 a.m. I like to swimm earlier especially as it is a shallow pool without lifeguard. But it was I guess related to curfew. Breakfast could be sreved earlier than from 8 a.m. too. But it was great anyway!

I enjoyed the welcome from Patricia the receptionist on my arrival, as my room was ready I was able to check in early. Many hotels stick to the 2 or 3pm rule regardless of whether the room is ready. As I had such an early start it was great to be able to have a rest in my room. I chose a superior room which was 301 - it was really nice and worth the extra £. It also had a little roof terrace with sunbeds and table and chairs. The food was really nice, freshly cooked to order and nicely presented. Check out at 1200 was really appreciated by me as my flight wasn't until much later. I used the pool and found a quiet space in the downstairs lounge to read before I departed. I would definitely come back to this hotel, for longer than 1 night next time!

The only things that I can pinpoint was that the service in the restaurant was a little unusual. Most hotel restaurants greet you and seat you but this wasn't the case in this hotel. I had booked a table for dinner and stood waiting - even though the waiter had seen me he didn't come over and I was stood waiting for over 5 minutes. I then caught the eye of the waitress and she beckoned me forward and said I could sit anywhere. It all felt a little awkward and slightly annoying so maybe a little customer service training would help? The sauna wasn't working - not sure if it is centrally controlled and only opened at certain hours??
