Beautiful manor renovated and expanded for more rooms. Good buffet for dinner and Good breakfast. It is the perfect spot to find calmness in the Alentejo countryside. Beautiful garden and pool. We had an issue with the AC and the hotel management immediately relocated us to an upgraded room. Nice and very helpful staff.

The hotel is lovely but needs some updates and a more sustained overall maintenance.

The hotel is a beautiful place to retire and enjoy the warm weather and the incredible landscape. All the staff were extremely friendly , especially the reception manager who came from Brazil and Andrej who served us so well! It was a great pleasure spending some days at this place! It was an interesting building in a remote area of Portugal, very close to the frontier with Spain. The building was the old administrative building of an old mining company Very confortable room and bathroom

There was Wifi throughout the hotel, but the wifi in the room was non existent. So I had to work from the Lobby and the internet was very weak and slow. I would not recommend this hotel for business traveller who needs to work online

The location of this hotel is excellent for those wanting to explore Baixo Alentejo. It's quite central, which allows you to easily reach the south coast (in Algarve) and multiple villages of interest around. The outdoors are beautiful, we had a very relaxing and comfortable breakfast outdoors even in Winter time. I had an excellent chat with an older staff member who told me about live in the region and what the hotel used to be (the palace of the owners of the neighbouring and currently abandoned sulfur mine). That chat and the outdoors breakfast made the stop at this hotel worth it! There's also a library room full of history, which is really cool to visit. There's an astronomical observatory which I bet is also great to visit, given the low amount of light pollution, but since it was full moon (harder to see stars) and the hotel was already understaffed, I didn't ask if someone could operate it for us.

The room decoration is a bit sterile, and some things were somewhat in bad shape for a five-star hotel: permanent spots on the mirror, a scuffed up bathtub... The staff, particularly the older staff, was really nice, however (and this is not their fault but the fault of their higher-ups) they were clearly understaffed, not having prepared for the abnormal amount of tourists in low season (22/30 rooms booked). As such, there were long wait times for reception and breakfast.

Check in process was very efficient. The pool area and staff an absolute delight. Very attentive when I had to get a back of ice as my husband was running a temperature. because of the extreme heat.

When I went to get our friends later the glasses had not been cleared off the poolside table and because of the heat the nibbles were full of ants.

excellent hotel with a receptionist who clearly has a skill for service. I had help with every thing, managed to get food just before the kitchen was supposed to close, was extremely well taken care of and felt really lucky to have chosen this hotel for the night.

I don't remember anything that could have been upgraded, everything was as I needed. No extra fuss but nothing missing, this hotel has a lot of charm and I would go back any time I pass by.

I loved everything. If I had known that the hotel and the village were so lovely, I would have made plans to stay longer. Philipa from reception was absolutely brilliant..

The only thing I didn't like was the coffee from the machine in the morning although the rest of the breakfast was fantastic.

Lovely grounds and the swimming pool was such a bonus in the Alentejo heat. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful, Alex on reception and Jake in the restaurant in particular. The evening meal option steak on stone was very good indeed. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Came here with family to show them the old mining town as I lived here when I was a child. Breakfasts were wonderful. Dinners very excellent and we were well looked after during dinner. Staff very friendly.

Sadly the observatory was closed.
