We especially liked the pool area, however it could do with smartening up slightly. The staff were very friendly, a member of staff called Rose was very helpful. She spoke very good English and I believe she had only just started the job recently and seemed to be learning the ropes very quickly.

It would have very helpful for us if there had been a lift, we are both 76 and the stairs were quite difficult at times. Also it would have been quite good if there had been tea and coffee making facilities in the room. However we still enjoyed the stay.

Beautiful homely place, very friendly people. The garden is absolutely amazing, and the pool is a nice addition. It's a bit in the middle of nowhere, which made it very quiet and nice to be away, however, everything around is very easily accesible by car. Breakfast was good as well, and the dining in was nice as well!

The room itself is not very spacious, and bit outdated style, but this didn't bother us at all since it was clean and everything worked great.

Excellent hotel - nice old building tastefully modernised but not at all hyper-modern! Just good solid stuff that works (like the shower, etc, bidet etc). Simple functioning air conditioning (which was required as we were there during seriously hot weather). Very pleasant garden on steep slope with a cleverly placed swimming pool (quite big) surrounded by sub tropical plants and flowers. Good breakfast included in the reasonably priced room. We dined in one night and the restaurant was good quality and good value. Real traditional Portuguese fare. Friendly and helpful staff too. What’s not to like?? Caldas de Monchique is a very pretty spa village. So all in all strongly recommended!

This was a return visit for us, which should say a lot. The tranquility and ambience is a delight. The breakfast is plentiful with good choices available for other meals either in Albergaria do Lageado or nearby. It's also a great base for exploring with good access to the coast or the hills.

Nothing really, sometimes the traffic on the nearby road was noticeable when by the pool.

A gem in the Monchique mountains in a tranquil setting located next to a thermal resort, certainly worth a visit. What an absolutely cute family run Inn with an excellent restaurant. Very professionally run with excellent food and service. The chef actually came out to explain how she made the delicious carob dessert which was scrumptious. We had a Junior Suite with a lovely terrace off the living room, couldn’t ask for a more peaceful setting.

The building and patio areas needed cleaning and there was black mold on the walls

Location great. Nice pool, nice terraces. Restaurant food good. Staff were nice, and helpful. The area was peaceful.

Breakfast o.k. The bacon and eggs cold unless there at the beginning. the Bread was lovely, but coffee only so-so and the orange juice disappointing for Portugal! But staff were lovely and bread/cheese/ham for breakfast was very nice though.

this is an extraordinary small boutique though older hotel, 10 km south of Monchique. It is in the complex with the thermal spa, wonderful outdoor bar, outdoor courtyard, and I have a boy lush Forest did ravine and the breakfast were incredibly full on with scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit toast cereal yogurt coffee etc. the staff is exceptionally accommodating, the occasionally only spoke Portuguese. The grounds of the hotels themselves are small but lush, with fish pond, its own swimming pool, outdoor patios etc. we absolutely loved it here

I really enjoyed the stay at the Albergaria do Lageado because of many things: 1) location: It is located at Caldas de Monchique, which is a tiny and very quiet place, which I was searching for. 2) The garden with the pool is amazing, I spend my evenings there after the hikes and it was perfect for relaxing, reading and calming down. 3) The staff was really nice and helped me with questions regarding my hikes, the busses, calling for taxi etc. I could also leave my backpack there and spend some hours in their garden after Check-Out while waiting for my bus without any further costs. 4) The value for money was great: All the mentioned above ant the price includes a small but nice breakfast (egg, ham, 3 types of bread, some sweets: pasteis de nata and cake, joghurt, cereals, milk, cheese and fruits ..)! It is not a luxury hotel, all quite old but very warm and welcoming. Muito obrigada!

The only thing I might criticise is the coffee at the breakfast. It tasted like an instant coffee not brewed and I prefer a coffee with intense flavour in the morning :)

The place is charming and the staff with the exception of one were great! The pool is nice and the property is nicely laid out

The pillows and mattress were a bit uncomfortable for us but that may not be the case for others. The one staff member that did give me a bit of a hard time over the price quoted for the extension stay was the only one that was a bit argumentative but only for that otherwise he was okay. Rose, Anna and the other ladies were great!

Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming. Great location. Restaurant also had delicious food and very affordable. Lovely clean rooms.

Only negative is sometimes it gets very very windy but this is due to the location of the hotel and cannot be helped. You get used to it!
