A fun funky place to stay, eclectic and nooky ... staff was very friendly, food was good, loved all the books and places to immerse yourself in reading/relaxing. Very near to castle, easy to walk everywhere, had a nice vibe! Also they are so accommodating with keeping your luggage stored if needed which was very helpful.
Only challenge we had was getting from the bus stop to the hotel with our luggage ... it is a short easy walk however the cobblestones and uneven path makes for huge challenge with big heavy suitcases as the wheels can't handle it ... strongly suggest taking a taxi directly to the hotel to easily avoid this challenge!

Loved all the books. The front desk people were so nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was divine. The staff was always smiling and friendly. The bed was comfortable. Loved the old timey look and feel of the place. And it’s a book lover’s paradise. Took me awhile to walk anywhere in the hotel bc there was so much to see. Loved the generously big bath towels.the location was perfect.
The bathtub area definitely needs attention.

The hotel is awesome. The combination between books and vintage articles is priceless. The staff was super efficient and nice, our room was big and comfortable, bathroom was efficient. The breakfast was one of the best. Great choices and options. Awesome location.
You need to enjoy the smell of old books. For me it was not a problem, but this is just a warning for the most sensible people.

captivating concept. the room had a small balcony overlooking the yard. hotel is outside the city walls and not inside which was good - still very centrally located but quiet and not crowded. room was very nice. Dinner in hotel restaurant was amazing - one of the best of our entire 10 day trip. staff was attentive and kind - gave us recommendations, explained about the hotel etc.
not much. tv in room was far away from bed and modern design of room clashed with classic hotel design. breakfast was very good but not special or extravagant in any way. overall these are small things that did not impact our experience.

The hotel was so interesting, cool, and beautiful! If you are a book lover, book (no pun intended) this hotel now! The rooms are well decorated, the bed was so comfortable and our room had a tiny balcony. We had a delicious breakfast that was included in the room rate. We opted to grab dinner and a drink at the hotel's associated restaurant and it did not disappoint. Obidos was our favorite place and this was our favorite stay of our entire trip!
Parking can be tricky because the streets are so narrow, but we got lucky and found a spot right in front.

The room was spacious and beautiful yet minimalist. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom had a large tub which was very much appreciated. In the morning, we had free breakfast and there was a bit of everything. The spotlight goes to the natural juices and the different kinds of delicious breads. We had gone to visit the Feira medieval de Óbidos and it was a very short walk away from the gates. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we would love to stay again. ((The photos we took were at the end of our visit, the room was pristine when we arrived))
There wasn't anything that I didn't like.

The literary theme was very well executed. The staff was truly amazing. They were always helpful and friendly, even storing our luggage before and after checkin/checkout so we could continue to explore Óbidos.
No complaints. Truly. The only thing that remotely occurs to me is that the bathroom could use a fan because after a shower, the whole bathroom and hotel room got very muggy.

The property had great character with fusion between old and new. It is well located just outside the village walls. Check in was quick and efficients and we were shown to our rooms.
The hotel smells like urine as you walk in, not very pleasant. The restaurant service is very slow. It took 1hr45 mins for 2 courses and we had to actually chase up for the dessert. As I realised all tables around us were getting bread and olives, I enquired and it was delivered after requesting. The room did not have tea/coffee or kettle. Breakfast was good but a few of the pastries were undercooked.

quaint little hotel right outside the gates, wonderful breakfast
parking is a challenge, as I thought there was designated parking for the hotel, it’s first come/served on the street; the sewer gas smell was awfully strong in our room - we only got an explanation about it when I asked when we checked out

I love the cozy theme, location and welcoming staff. You are just outside the walled city and there’s a great restaurant just across the plaza. It’s absolutely lovely. I highly recommend.
Just for awareness - parking is on the street, which we knew and it’s tight but doable.
