A calm oasis very near the heart of the city. Informal and interesting (artworks everywhere!), this is a very intimate and cosy place to stay. Staff were very friendly and warm - the recommended local restaurant turned out to be an unexpected bonus. Excellent communication before and during our stay.

Not so much something that we didn't like, but there is no lift - which is made very clear in the listing - and some guests may find this an issue. That said, it wasn't a problem for us, and furthermore we saw other guests being helped with heavy cases by staff members.

Our room was spacious and had two double dog pots onto a small balcony overlooking the courtyard. The bed was very comfortable. The included breakfast was varied and delicious and could be eaten in a warm glassed-in patio area in the courtyard. Each of the staff members we met made every effort to be helpful and offer suggestions of restaurants and activities in Porto. The location, close to Sao Bento train station, was within walking distance of major sites, the tram lines, the metro, and the river.

Water pressure in the shower and strength of the wi-fi could both have been improved.

The room was nicely decorated and overlooked a charming private garden. Katia worked extremely hard to make her guests comfortable and was quick to respond to any requests. She also prepared a beautiful breakfast every morning consisting of a variety of breads, pastries, coffees and even baked a cake for guests.

The stairs for us seniors did pose a bit of a challenge but we knew this was the case when we booked. The location was fantastic centrally located in the heart of town . As others have said this small hotel is real gem. We would happily stay at the Porto Gallery Guest House again.

We were impressed with the size of the room, cleanliness and the balcony. The bed was very comfortable and all facilities were great. The team were helpful when looking after our bags after checkout and sending very straightforward information on how to gain access into the property as this is not a hotel.

The property is easy walking distance, but slightly on the outskirts of where we were exploring and due to this felt a little bit more residential. It would be nice to add some amenities to the property, ie. Bottles of water.

A very nice place to stay in a central location, some 10 minutes walk downhill to the main sites such as Ribeira and the Douro river. It’s also 5 minutes from the main Sao Bento railway station. The rooms are very nice, each with a piece of art in keeping with the gallery theme. It’s a very quiet place, with a lovely light breakfast area and garden with sofas etc. If you want to read a book and make plans there before you start your day it’s ideal. Very helpful staff, thanks in particular to Gilbert for very helpful train info. Highly recommended.

Nothing.

Our room was lovely very clean and comfortable The breakfast was lovely a good choice of cold meats cheese and very nice fresh bread, cereal and yogurt. There was also a homemade cake each day for you to enjoy which was a lovely treat The communication was great with the guesthouse and access to the property made very easy, would definitely recommend for a short break

The only negative was there was a kettle and a few fruit tea bags in the room but no mugs breakfast tea coffees or milk so had to collect from breakfast room in out pjs on each morning This is probably more of a housekeeping issue which could have been rectified on the first day but wasn’t

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was exactly as advertised (even better, perhaps) and we slept like rocks on the very comfortable bed with the air conditioning on. The room and bathroom were both spacious and nice. All of the art in our room and the common areas was also very fun. The guesthouse only has six rooms, so be sure to book early! The breakfast was good (they'll even make you eggs if you would like) and the staff was very attentive and pleasant. The breakfast area and back terrace were really cute. The front desk is only staffed during the first part of the day, but this was never an issue and the check-in process was easy. This was our favorite place that we stayed in Portugal and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

The only thing to note is that they don't have an elevator (not unusual in a property of this size). We expected it though and were prepared to hustle our suitcases up the stairs. (But if you are not, make sure you don't book one of the rooms on the top floor!)

Loved the patio and garden area during breakfast. Breakfast was pretty typical for Europe - I would have appreciated an egg and fresh fruit to take with me during my day outings. But that wasn’t a deal breaker. The coffee was good and comforting and the meats/cheeses delicious. My balcony was so pleasant to sit with a cup of tea. Gilbert was very engaging and fun to talk with.

I was on the second floor and could hear noise from above when other guests walked. Wood floors will tend to make noise.

A Boutique Garden Hotel. Very central in the city. Yet quiet room with balcony overlooking a very well tended garden full of persimmon fruiting. Tastefully furnished rooms with varied softness of pillows and firm matresses. Very accommodating staff, Ms Catia who allowed us to leave a luggage behind before our return from Duoro Valley. She also recommended places to visit and well - known eateries. Definitely good value for money.

Really surprised by this stay. Very well organised. The accommodation was next door ot a coin-op laundry and a cafe/restaurant that does budget meals. In the center of Porto, walking distance from everywhere. Lovely decoration with museum pieces in the actual rooms. Very very good sound proofing. Could not have been better. Lovely breakfast on the little yard out back. Very civilised, pretty and complete! Definitely stay again for a Porto experience.

All good. Nothing to add.
