The hotel was clean modern and comfortable to stay in. The restaurant was sleek and yet not over the top. The food was delicious and they gave you a decent portion. We purchased the breakfast option at time of booking which I feel is always necessary on travels. The options were all there and the food was good. We had a beautiful view of the lake and we were able to have a stunning view of the northern lights right from the window. We did go out to see them but did not need to. The location is beautifully secluded from the lights of cities and surrounded by mountains, volcanos and water it was perfect for a get away. I wish we would have stayed longer.

The shower stall is a bit tiny but that's not a deal breaker.

The location and the customer reviews were the main reason we selected this hotel and we were not disappointed on any level. We did see the Northern Lights. The hotel is beautiful! Great buffet breakfast, staff were helpful, friendly, and professional. We were on a 10-day self-drive trip around the country. Each day we embarked on a new adventure and moved to another hotel as we made our way around the Ring Road and exploring off the beaten path at any given opportunity. Our room was well equipped, comfy bed, nice hot shower, with a great view which was what we needed after a long day of hiking and exploration.

Everything was perfect!

I loved the big window looking out on to the lake, the sky & beyond. I loved the bathroom - a counter big enough to hold toiletries, a shower that contained the water. I enjoyed the dining room - dinner in the evening & the full breakfast buffet in the morning. I even took advantage of the picnic lunch offered. Bonus: I saw the Northern Lights for the first time in my life from the big window looking out at the sky in the middle of the night! : )

The only thing I didn't like was that the parking lot was not cleared of the snow.

The triple room was spacious and nicely decorated. The little balcony was a nice touch that we were not expecting. The hotel has beautiful surroundings, it was still beautiful even though we didn’t pick a room with lake view, it would have been nicer with a lake view though. The breakfast was really nice.

Previous reviews here mention the hotel providing aurora wake up calls, we enquired with reception and they said they don’t offer it because the reception is not open 24 hours. This was very disappointing because we chose this hotel thinking they would offer this service.

This has been the best hotel so far that we have stayed in Iceland …room was a good size with a beautiful view. We have stayed in a few of the Foss Hotels in Iceland and this hotel has been the best of them. Breakfast was very good also.

The only thing that we didn’t like was the underfloor heating in our room…it was very hot in there. This was easily sorted though as we had our balcany door open all the time..we like fresh air.

Very comfortable bed a perfectly clean room in this sober modern design hotel. We enjoyed view on the extraordinary Myvatn lake and a family of sheep roaming around. The chef prepares exquisite meals, we would recommend the lamb a the chocolate cake. A bowl of skyr for breakfast is a must. The members of the staff were fantastic, kind and helpful, very professional. The sauna on the third floor has a view and the lake and terrace to chill out.

What a wonderful hotel. Everything was spotless and well designed. The view of Lake Mývatn was just awesome from the bar and the restaurant. Best location possible. Wish we could have stayed much longer. Will use this hotel again on my next visit. Food in the restaurant was very good both diner and breakfast. Bonus was seeing the northern lights dance above the lava fields surrounding the hotel.

Location was ideal to major waterfalls, Húsavík and onto Akureyri, Varmahlíð & Laugarbakki. The architecture of this Fosshotel was well thought-out ; carpark lots were amble & the driveway allowed guests to temporarily park nearer to offload luggage nearest the entrance. The best rooms in the hotel were perfect, with long baths with a view (instead of an outdoor balcony hot tub, like in Glacier Lagoon's Fosshotel) They were ensuite inside & sheltered from the summer insects... Breakfast was excellent & wait staff attentive, hardworking.

That you needed to remind the frontdesk to change towels daily if you stayed more than a night (hotel's conservation policy is laudable though)

Conveniently located, facing lake Mývatn. Great 2 nights base for exploring the area. Modern hotel and comfortable rooms. Good breakfast

On our first night the room was hot as hell (temperature outside that day was 18’ Celsius) . No AC and due to the flies in the area you cannot open the window. They brought us a fan but it was still a misery. 2nd day was cooler during the day and the room temprature was ok

The location and the view from the hotel were amazing. The breakfast was good and the staff in the dining area were great. The room was perfectly clean and the beds were comfortable.

We had dinner in the hotel on the first night of 4 and it was disappointing, the food wasn't well prepared so we ate in other hotels for the remainder of our visit.
