The room was modern and comfortable with a luxurious feel, the hotel was very quiet when I visited so very peaceful and the hot tub was always free. Beautiful setting up in the mountain looking over the water and town below. On a clear night I could see the northern lights very well from right outside, although they’re easy to miss if you’re looking for green lights.. they actually look more like clouds until you look through a camera! The hotel is a 45 min walk from the Forrest lagoon (highly recommended and also the burger van in the car park!) and a 1.5 hour walk from Akureyri centre, it’s a beautiful walk if you’re able, plus I saw seals and a humpback whale en route. I really enjoyed my stay here, really good value for money and I would deffo recommend.

Just a bit outside of the city of Akureyri , but a 5 minute drive and you are there . Easy to find and there is parking outside. Easy to check in cause they send you information before and you don’t need anyone at the reception. And the best part is that they send us 2 messages with 2 different room numbers. They gave us a free upgrade!!! The room was big and the beds were so comfy . There were robes and towels for the hot tub . Cause yes there is also a hot tub . We woke up and had an amazing breakfast surrounded by snowy trees. Breakfast was cereal, bread , ham , cheese , fruits , jam crackers , muffins and it was absolutely perfect. I live in Reykjavik and this will always be my weekend getaway to Akureyri.

I had a great stay at this hotel in Akureyri, and the breakfast was excellent. The panoramic view of the city was truly breathtaking. The facilities were newly renovated, which added to the comfort of the experience. Overall, it’s a great place to stay, but better accessibility would make it even better.
However, my co-worker faced difficulties moving around the hotel since he is disable. Despite requesting a special room to ensure easy access from the car to the hotel, reaching the breakfast area was still a challenge.

Okay....I always read any negative reviews for hotels we book in order to get an overall view, & so many negative reviews are based on one-off experiences that may be unlikely to occur with anyone else....& such might be our case. So take this review with that in mind. First....the hotel is outside of Akureyri, but if you're looking at this you already know that. And it's less than ten minutes to drive, so it's fine. But the location is picturesque & very quiet, which was fantastic. Now...we stayed here in the 'off-season' so there was no staff there when we arrived & we couldn't find that they'd emailed us a PIN to enter the property (which may be the fault of the Bookings site rather than the hotel, we don't know). So it took a phone call to enter the property...& because it was the off-season (& as Australians we didn't really think this part through) the bar wasn't open for operation, & I was REALLY looking forward to having a beer whist gazing out at the amazing landscape. Sadly, that didn't happen...but that's not really the hotel's fault, just something to be aware of. Then we needed a PIN for our room, which also wasn't supplied in advance, so we had to call the proprietors & the girl on the phone wasn't totally sure how to use the room's PIN pad, so it took a bit of time to get into our room. And then our room was, surprisingly, very hot. Too hot, far too hot to sleep, believe it or not. I even went around the unoccupied bar area & turned down all the heating in an attempt to cool things down (the heater in our room wasn't on) but it didn't seem to have any affect. We called the proprietors again (no staff were onsite at all) & they were admittedly very helpful & apologetic. The manager (I think...?) came out personally to help us & he was very friendly, doing what he could for us.
Our room was very hot...it wasn't winter but the hotel's heaters were all too hot & as it wasn't staffed so they weren't there to modulate the temperature. Also, we didn't receive any emails or notices to inform us of a PIN to enter the hotel or another PIN to enter our room & it took several calls to get it sorted.

Waffles for breakfast were great + comfortable chair next to the window, where my wife spent whole 7 hours to read her book. Also, this is the place where we saw AURORA northern lights for the first time, we didn't thought we would with all the clouds and city lights, but we still accidentally did, which made our day !!
Make sure to ask about hot tubs in winter season, because we thought it was closed without asking, LOL.

We booked a room in the hotel. When we checked in, we asked about their nearby apartments. They had one available and for an extra fee, we were able to stay in a quite new apartment with a private hot tub on the patio. The mountain views are exceptional. Everything in the apartment was modern and new. The beds were nice. The black out blinds worked great. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes & pots & pans. We would stay here again.
The bathroom lighting wasn’t great. We could have used some paper towels.

Pretty location. Very kind owner. Breakfast not included. no microwave. the over partially worked (one of 3 knobs worked). Note that you are expected to clean your own dishes prior to leaving or be charged for it. cute cookies included (two little sheep cookies) no real room to lay out luggage. noisy as I heard everyone's footsteps on top of us until they went to bed and this is not what I have experienced at a typical hotel which has better insulation. A little hard to find. ended up using Google maps as Waze sent us down some other location about 1/4 mile prior
Noisy from foot steps upstairs.

The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect! Kind and considerate and so clean and welcoming! We had a great view of the city across from the water and the perfect location to view the Northern Lights!
I can’t think of a thing! I will for sure stay here again!

Breakfast is great Very comfortable beds Free drinks in the bar (teas, coffees) as well as within the room itself (three free soft drinks). WiFi was good
Unfortunately you could hear the person in the next room coughing - the couple there seemed to have a cold so there was a lot of coughing. Then at 4.45 in the morning some residents were yelling in the corridor and stomping up the stairs. I had ear plugs in and could still hear them! So, soundproofing isn’t too great there sadly

We were looking for an Akureyri property that was convenient, but not in the heart of other touristy spots. Hotel North turns off the fjord levee bridge and climbs to a lovely location overlooking the Eyafjord. Bright yellow with lots of charm. Check. In was efficient and the breakfast was varied with waffle makers, coffee machine, cold cuts, cheeses, yogurts, fruits, etc. It was also on the same side of the fjord as the Forest Lagoon which was our main destination. A 5-minute drive.
