I took my daughters on a roadtrip and we said lets go and explore what they learned in school in history and geography. We choose Kimberley for the Big Hole and Diamonds exploration. all 3 children when I put the option of a hotel stay jumped to say we must stay at Protea hotel. Wow you made the stay so so special. The staff went over and above - were so so friendly. thank you for the excellent and the memories we could make as a father and daughters roadtrip. Sincerely appreciated Owen

Lol the heat was hectic but its understood for the time of year. Like we said the place just exceeded our exspectations. We would liked a room overlooking the big hole but understood the hotel was fully booked.

The location was very central, and situation on the ridge of the big hole in Kimberley (you can walk to the tour office for the tickets to view this historic site). The facilities were clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We ordered dinner off the menu, as the buffet seemed pricy for the selection of food available to choose from. Although the family travelling with me did receive their food (it took a while), my order was taken incorrectly. Being too late I ordered take away from a fast-food vendor in town.

The staff was amazing, would like to give my best regards and special acknowledgement to Desmond, Tshepo and Emmanuel they serviced me and my family with grace diligence and warmth. These there are hospitality Kings, the made our stay extra special. Our check in person was Lucky and he made us feel welcomed. We interacted with him on on arrival and yes he worked magic. On the other hand housekeeping didn’t clean the rooms beside make the beds, even that was just juvenile and we had utilities and stuff left for the duration of our stay. We had to ask for bathroom towels and soap and stuff. Only down side

the staff and food

Welcome is very warm. The venue is not in town but it has a restaurant. The room is big enough and very clean. Water is provided and no problem with power cuts. It is a memorial site and offers good accomodation.

The positive welcome from the staff. The respect from housekeeping is at another level. Very professional. I would be lying, the standard was beyond expectation. Thank you

The room was fine.

The restaurant on site was very poor. We could barely eat the food due to the quality of how it was prepared. When we asked for a medium prepared steak a raw piece of steak was served. We returned the steam and it was replaced with a paper thin minute steak. The ribs that was served were so dried out we could not eat it. The chicken livers were also served dried out completely. Therefore our experience in the restaurant was horific and I will definately not recommend any of the guests to eat there.

The location right next to The Big Hole is perfect to explore. It is also very quiet. We had dinner and breakfast and in both instances the food was delicious. There was a group staying at the hotel that made breakfast a bit challenging, but the staff managed it very well. Don’t have to look for gems at The Big Hole, they all work at the hotel!! Exceptional service d from check in to check out.

Nothing

Everything is clean and feels fresh. Staff was super helpful. We had an aircon that dripped water in our room, and the staff member on duty, asked if he could help us move to another room. Very generous and friendly man! The restaurant next door (at the museum part) is also so nice as it is near, very good food and lovely atmosphere to dine.

Location ! Location ! Location! We loved the room and location of the hotel as we could easily walk to the old town as it was basically next to the hotel. Everything was within our reach. The Staff are the friendliest around .

We had to ask for extra cups etc as we were a party of 4 but none the less it was provided to us in a timely manner . We are not penalizing them for that its just for them to check how many people are checking in and provide the amenities as needed

It is a great place for a stop over and right at the edge of the Big Hole. There is a very secured parking with a boom and a guard. Our room was very nice and updated. There is a beautiful lobby and a restaurant. Breakfast was huge.

Dinner was okay for a quick meal, but not if you are looking for a nice dining experience.

The comfortability was amazing, the location was nice because we were even able to visit the big hole. It's awalking distance to the big hole

The diner wasn't so great, but the breakfast was lovely. My food was salty, they tried fixing it with an option to order something else but still didn't enjoy the substitute meal.
