Convenient location right in the heart of Oudtshoorn - good for shopping, eating out and visiting Cango Caves and Ostrich farms. Charming older hotel - my room looked out to main street but still was quiet and comfortable. Included breakfast was especially nice served in the garden area. Staff was very helpful in getting laundry done which was much appreciated.
When electricity goes out due to South Africa’s load shedding, hotel does not have a backup generator to run a/c or elevator. I believe they are planning to get a generator so this may change.

Convenient- situated in the centre of all the activities.
in my opinion the hotel couldn’t cope with managing the hotel guests as well as the rest of their activities in connection with the festival. Dining hall breakfast buffet had no honey, no large serving plates, no sugar substitute sachets for a diabetic, no chutney condiments. The water and milk in the room wasn’t replenished after the first day. Standard answer given by staff was that these items were being used for the other functions which the hotel was catering for. I think that the hotel was short staffed over a very busy time in Oudtshoorn.

What I enjoyed most was interacting with the staff at Queens Hotel, I mean as a marketing specialist and private traveller who shares his experiences with others I felt even more blessed because they treated me as if I was a regular. Auntie Petro was amazing at reception, she assisted me with everything including all my questions. Breakfast was exceptional, Im even thinking of sending my mother on the same road trip by booking her at Queens!
There was no minibar fridge to store my soft drink but because all I wanted to do was explore the area It did not bother me much.

I loved that it felt like walking back into history! It was like a could imagine men in suits and ladies in beautiful dresses having coffee in the lounge, with horse carriages and sidecars waiting in the street outside. I can just imagine the hustle amd bustle of when the British royals visited in 1947! Yet with all the historical nostalgia, the hotel still has all the modern facilities to ensure a comfortable stay – aircon, modern bathrooms, big showers, kettles, TVs with many channels to choose from, and so forth. Oh, and we loved the extra-length sleeping pillows! The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
There was nothing specific that we were really dissatisfied with. Toast with breakfast would have been lovely, but we know that load shedding is out of everyone's control. The hotel is still doing what they can to make sure that breakfast is available even despite load shedding. Thank you!

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Queen Hotel. The manager, Shannon Govender, and his team made us feel very welcome and well taken care of. Our room had a great view over the courtyard, was clean and comfortable, had good WIFI, and were equipped with a TV, microwave and fridge. The hotel is centrally located so it's pretty easy to explore the restaurants and attractions around town. We'll definitely be back!

The rooms reminded me of what hotels used to be like in the 90s. Not outdated, just traditional. They were clean, with lovely crisp linen. The staff were very helpful, and the breakfast buffet was very good. The restaurant served good meals too. The property has a lovely history to it, which is displayed throughout the hallways.
Unfortunately we were given an adjoining room, and the guest in it had long, loud phone calls, and the tv on loud throughout the night. Thankfully we had the heater to drown out some of the noise. The walls seem thick enough to prevent the sound, but the door adjoining, definitely not. I would prefer the hotel kept adjoining rooms for families.

Great old historical hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast staff. They provided great service and extra info on places to visit around Oudtshoorn. The pool was welcoming and great to cool down in the summer heat. Comfortable beds.
Liked everything, except the room needs a small fridge.

The breakfast was good and the surroundings very nice. We stayed close to the shops, so it was easy to get hold of something we needed.
The channels on the tv, connection was poor. We could not even watch the soapy's we normally do. Please look into that, because to watch television helps to relax your mind also.

The breakfast at the hotel was served at the coffee shop downstairs. The menu was quite diverse and the food very tasty.
I would have liked to be able to have supper at the restaurant. This is one of the reason why I booked a room in the hotel in the first place. There are other restaurants around, but after a long road trip, it would have been nice just to stay in the hotel. Also, I could not find the wifi password in the booklet provided in the room.
