We were a group of friends who travelled South Africa together for the first time and we found heaven of earth in the Banhoek Corner Guesthouse. It is perfectly located just outside of Stellenbosch and very close to some of the best wine estates and restaurants in the region. It was clean and cozy, the staff was very friendly and we just had the best time. Shout out to the Manager Magda who made us feel very welcomed and ensured that everything is fine for us. We will definitely come back.

Banhoek Corner Guest House is an old home that has been beautifully restored and renovated. All the staff on site were friendly and welcoming and made sure we felt at home and were very accommodating. Magda provided us with wonderful recommendations on where to dine and visit in the area. The rooms were comfortable with a very spacious bathroom. The orientation the guest house allows you to enjoy the beautiful views of the Helshoogte valley.
The shower pressure wasn't great, and the room proved a little tight for a couple sharing with a week's worth of luggage.

Absolutely amazing house in old colonial style with tastefully furbished rooms. There are lots of lounge areas to chill and relax and the pool is very good and offers a view on the mountains. Breakfast is fabulous and lady the owner is extremely welcoming and accomodating that made our stay very very pleasant There are 2 vineyards just 5 minutes drive
Absolutely nothing about this place, all exceeded expectations the only point I would mention is the ubers might not be easy to get in the evening as they dont really want to drive to the city, sometimes might take an hour to get but that might be us being unfortunate with that

Beautifully appointed guest house, we were warmly welcomed by Magda. Lovely large room and bathroom with high ceilings and lovely antique furniture. Modern soft furnishings ensured the look was fresh and up to date. Nice thick and large absorbent bath and pool towels were provided. Location was perfect for us; we wanted to visit Oldenburg, Bartinney and Tokara estates. All 3 were extremely close by.
My only suggestion is that the new owners should consider implementing measures to counteract the effects of loadshedding at the guest house. Everything else was perfect.

Magda was lovely and did more than necessary to smooth things over when I got a bit grumpy. The house is gorgeous, and the pool/ view from the pool is fantastic. Breakfast also wonderful!
Though I would love to give the guesthouse a straight 10, I can’t- simply because the noise off R310 is quite loud, particularly in our room. My suggestions: earplugs provided for all guests, white noise machines in the rooms facing , and if it can be done, plant a dense hedge around the side facing R310 to dampen the noise.

We chose Banhoek corner based on several factors - location (we went to a wedding nearby), character (we liked the pictures we saw), price (it seemed fair value) and, as always, reviews. For the most part - the guest house really delivered. And the complimentary wine was a bonus. We loved the character, and the staff or owners we did meet were really helpful. This was also our first exposure to Netflix on a holiday and we loved it - just didnt have time to really enjoy it - too much to do (and load shedding).
It seems unfair to say load shedding was a negative - it is not their fault and they do have a light that works during load shedding. Breakfast was affected though but there was still enough to start the day on. Perhaps we are spoilt expecting full services from the hospitality industry during load shedding and that is not being fair. It comes at such a high cost. There isnt enough secure parking when they are full house but I left a note on my car if anyone needed me to move before I got up (they didnt).

Great selection, fresh fruit, cold meat selection and pastries were great and the warm food was tasty and delivered with a smile!.
I thought our room was very sparcely furnished. It lacked perhaps a small table for small items such as wallets, cell phones and water bottles. One or two lounge chairs would also be a good idea. Likewise the huge bathroom, could do with a chair for clothes or a gown. Also, the TV in our room wasn't working - it required a complicated set-up procedure when I switched it on. Perhaps staff should check that this is working and easily accessible before guests arrive?

The garden with the swimming pool, the rooms and the shared living area were all super beautiful, very well maintained, and decorated with a refined taste. The views from the swimming pool area are gorgeous! The breakfast was also very good, including fresh juice and fruit!
The rooms, although quite big, lack some kind of desk/table and a sofa/armchair. It only contained the bed and a wardrobe and a plain small chair. Also, it does not have a 24-hour reception, so you have to get in touch with the host to meet you for the check in. They do not have a card machine available, so everything needs to be booked through booking. It is close to the main road, so it can get noisy in the rooms on to the side of the house facing the road.

Fantastic location close to the Helshoogte road - but we did not hear any traffic. This meant you could easily head East or West to the various wine estates - which was our plan. The guesthouse is a restored old farmhouse beautifully decorated that you feel surrounded by luxury. A woodfire greeted us in the livingroom each evening - perfect for a night cap. Our room (5) was large and spacious. One of the biggest King size beds I’ve ever slept in - heaven! Bathroom was also huge with a large walk in shower. Our room also included a complementary bottle of water and Bartinney wine. Sattelite television with various channels including Netflix and YouTube. Nespresso machine in the room was also a great treat for afternoon coffee before heading out to more wine farms.
Loved everything.

Beautiful property close by to some of our favourite wineries in the area (Rainbows End and Oldenburg). Lovely pool area and nice breakfast. We had a lovely huge room with very high ceilings and beautifully decorated.
The property was very close to the main road so make sure you request a quiet room at the back of the property (the one we had).
