Excellent hosting by Nick and the ladies; good breakfast selection and always freshly made. Outside gardens well kept and provided the tranquility we needed.

Would have preferred an outside self catering room as these open out into own garden space which is what I thought I was requesting when I placed the booking. The bed in the room we used maybe in need of a change...felt like the springs were pushing through. Maybe consider putting a queen size if replacing.

Marshen Estate is an absolute gem of a place. Driving into the estate you are taken away on an adventure. A lovely dam, a few springboks is what you see on your way to the guesthouse , peace and quiet is what you will find. There are big beautiful trees, the guest house we stayed in looked like a charming England Cottage. Staff are friendly, dedicated and the breakfast was delicious. The rooms are very clean, beautifully decorated and spacious. There is a big swimming pool, koi pond and a big garden. A venue of choice if you want a world class accommodation experience.

The location was remote and a beautiful getaway. The bed was extremely comfortable and the heating provided for the room was fantastic for the bitter cold weather. The breakfast service was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The property was peacefully quiet and allowed privacy to relax during the day.

The room had a few cobwebs around the doors and their hinges on the inside. There were also some dead bugs and general dirt by the bedside tables as well as a hair clip that was not mine on the floor by the dresser. The water glasses in the bathroom had marks on them and the towel had bleach stains. There were no staff for me to check out so I put my keys on the table at reception and just left. The room would benefit from a microwave facility.

Location was great, very pretty cottage with a river running around it.

Could be cleaner inside, but not the worst. The younger dog growls a lot which made me quite uncomfortable going outside. The older dogs keep to themselves. We were supposed to get free breakfast and the owner told us it would get registered when we online check in. The link they gave us didn't work and I messaged them and they didn't respond, so we didn't get our breakfast which was disappointing.

Clean and tidy, good bed linen , nice morning walk up to the main house to have a very good breakfast , (choice of cereal fresh fruit pancakes and cooked breakfast ) sets you up for the day . Also felt very safe ,

Private pool with the cottage was a great experience ,as it was very hot when we were staying .

The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The place was also quiet so I had a good 2 nights' sleep.

The establishment is not suited for work travel - it is self-catering and has no meeting facilities. It is definitely a holiday destination and great for families because the rooms are extremely spacious with well apportioned kitchens and seating areas. The gym is small, outdated and cramped so I wasn't able to exercise.

The host was really wonderful and helpful she truly went out of her way to accommodate us and make us comfortable. Beautiful surroundings and views from the rooms balcony.

Would have liked some bottled water in the room, even though the host mentioned the water is perfect to drink. It would have been nice to have some cold water already available.

Marshden: Great cottage on a private estate. It's a massive estate with 3 cottages to choose from we got lucky with an upgrade from Burgundy to Boulders cottage. Fully equipped cottages to ensure complete comfort. Very quite and serene. It's a 26 mins drive from main wineries of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and a 7 min drive from a local market with few takeway food options. Breakfast provided at estate is lovely. Friendly staff and a quite place to wind down.

Great property, very tranquil. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the staff in the kitchen were very friendly and helpful. My accommodation - Bush - had basically everything I needed.

Cleanliness needs some improvement, namely in the Bush accommodation, and especially in the Bush bathroom and kitchen (fridge and utensils/crockery).

We loved it, Caryl was a terrific host, a very comfortable room and everything was very clean. No issues regarding load-shedding due to their solutions for keeping the power up. Breakfast was great and located on the gorgeous estate. We would definitely come back when visiting Stellenbosch again.
