NH Collection Palacio de Aranjuez

We have stayed here before several times and so I have reviewed this hotel accordingly. Perhaps the fact that we are repeat visitors is the most significant accolade. This place has views of a palace, is easy to find and leave and has underground secure parking. The rooms are large and airy. The staff at all levels are professional, welcoming and friendly. We are greeted personally by the manager these days which is very nice. We use this place as a convenient halfway stop-over between the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean shore, but Aranjuez is a pretty place to wander about its share of restaurants and bars.

I only have one negative about the hotel and it is the always the same one: the restaurant menu though small but fine quality never changes. No problem for those who have rarely stayed. Indeed no problem on days when restaurants are not closed or when the weather is not so awful as to discourage venturing outside. Unfortunately we have experienced all those considerations. Oh well, we will be back-of course!

We have stayed and reviewed this hotel several times which probably tells any reader all they need to know. It is ideally positioned as an overnight stop from the north to south of Spain. It is easy to find, has a large private garage, has facilities for pleasure and business guests, the breakfasts are lavish and it has a view of a palace! Are these things what make this hotel special? NO!. As I have said before what makes this place excellent is the fact that the staff from the manager to reception, restaurant, bar and room service providers are perpetually cheerful, helpful, efficient and welcoming. In short this hotel is the most hospitable hotel we have ever stayed in- including global travel -and that surely should be what the HOSPITALITY industry -all other considerations notwithstanding-should be about. We are now greeted personally-which is very nice.

The small restaurant has a small menu that does not change. I expect this is because the town has many eateries within walking distance. However they are not all open every day of the week, sometimes the weather is bad-for us twice heavy rain and once freezing temperatures- which keeps guests in the hotel. Odd really because breakfast offers incredible variety. Not a deal breaker, of course.

We booked last minute and got an excellent price 109 euros for a luxury, giant room with 2 very comfortable and large beds. Small pets accepted, we stayed with our king charles spaniel. They gave us a sign for the door signalling pet was inside so room service would not enter, this is nice. Easy quick check in and check out. Silent location. Several restaurants and a theater short walking distance, but the town is quiet and many restaurants closed on Tuesday and Monday nights.

Given the price we paid we have no complaints this was 5 star! If we had paid more we might have been disappointed that the "gym" is more like a 20 square meter closet in the basement next to the parking garage, and to use the sauna you have to ask at the front desk for them to turn it on.

We had made a reservation for a standard room with view of the palace. We were offered an upgrade for 40 euros yo have “the best room in the hotel”. This included garage with EV charger , which would normally cost 20 euros. Excellent deal, the room was vast and had an incredible view of the palace . We did not give an excellent rating, because at this level excellent would mean zero issues. Find some small issues in next section.

Dinner : the shoulder of lamb while tasty was only lukewarm. Elevator : very, very slow Airco : somewhat noisy

Location, right opposite the Palace which we wanted to visit. The Aircon worked well and the beds were very comfy. Secure spacious underground parking, for a fee. Excellent choice at breakfast, fresh orange juice, lots of fresh fruit and scrambled eggs served in individual pots! WiFi speed was excellent.. Easy to walk to restaurants but as usual, nothing opens until 8.30pm.

Extremely attentive reception and bar captain (Giovanny). We were only there for the one evening, but enjoyed a relaxing "happy hour" in the bar where Giovanny proved to be the most engaging host. As we prepared to go to dinner, he informed us that we had a surprise bottle of Cava delivered to our room, a wonderful surprise to finish our evening. The hotel is in keeping with NH Collection hotels' standards for furnishings and facilities. Classic, with a view directly in front of the royal palace. The palace and its grounds are stunning and on a par with such royal palaces as Versailles. Incredibly significant and impressively represents an era of global leadership, across Habsburg and Bourbon dynasties. In the end, the hotel staff here are wonderful and, as this was at the end of our vacation, capped it with a "crescendo". Thank you very much!

Transportation from the train station; no taxis when we arrived and, though not very far, in the midst of a heat wave, walking with bags, without sidewalks, was very challenging.

We had a beautiful and spacious junior suite. Clean and beautifully decorated. Big comfy Beds. We LOVED it for our night stay. Staff was friendly. Great location. Highly recommend this hotel.

No plug ins by the bed for our phones. Air-conditioning was not working properly in our room (a bit hot and humid while sleeping), so I had trouble sleeping. I told the front desk about the issue in the morning, but I just got a "I will speak with facilities about it."

As soon as i flopped onto the humungos cloud of a bed, i was encapsulated by a wave of euphoria. everyone else was tossing and turning to the fear of the electrical storm however i was in a deep slumber. so deep it appeared i was unalived. the staff was oozing with helpfulness and the room service was bloody scrumptious. i lapped up the slice of chicken as if i had not feeded on nutrients for years. my tastebuds danced in the ocean of pure flavour. yummy in my tummy. my belly was full with the scrumptious feeling of ecstasy. i was in chicken heaven. it was clucking fantastic. i felt like i was in a fever dream of joy. chapter 2: breakfast. they had miniscule cute pots with eggs. they were bloody exquisite. i inhaled the liquidy egg yolks and felt their beauty run through my body. it was like frodo when he had the ring on. i was a hobbit corrupted by the flavour. they also had bread rolls which made my mouth erupt in a volcano. they had endless toppings: tomato, cured ham, iberic ham, cheddar cheese, feta cheese, blue cheese, manchego cheese, and so many more like a multitude of preserves like marmalade. my life is complete and yours will be too when you go to this hotel.

We have stayed at this hotel before so knew what to expect. The town is a good choice for an 'overnighter' from the southern coast to the ferry at Santander. Its easy to find, has views of a palace and has excellent secure under ground parking on site. But what makes this hotel really special is the staff. All are upbeat, cheerful and helpful. Either they have excellent training or someone knows how to pick good people. We have met a manager who demonstrably leads by example. Breakfast is good-better than many. Dinner menu is small but again well prepared. The rooms are large and spotless. A hotel operated by people who know what 'hospitality' and 'guest' really means.

I suggest that the dinner menu remains small but every month the chef is able to add three dishes-first-main-and dessert that is seasonal as to ingredients , regional or otherwise relevant to the Spanish calendar because the food is good-but thus far the menu hasn't changed. This was not a problem -just a suggestion to make it better!

The situation was excellent.We paid for an upgrade which included secure parking and a room with a view of the Palace.The room was extremely spacious and comfortable with a large his and hers bathroom.The hotel was a short walk from excellent restaurants including El Rana Verde and El Corral de la Abuela. We have stayed at this hotel several times en route from the ferry at Santander to our holiday home in Southern Spain and will continue to do so.Although we only had coffee before setting off in the morning the breakfast looked very good with ample choice.
