The location right next to the metro station provided a great opportunity to get out and enjoy Barcelona without renting a car or walking a long way for public transportation. The morning hot breakfast provided a great start for the day. The staff was always pleasant and willing to help. We had a room with a king sized bed.

The automatic coffee machine downstairs in the lobby stopped working every night at 1800. There was no microwave in the room. The pillows were too soft for my neck.

location, hospitality, comfortable, are all good. room is big and clean with nice street view. staff are very nice.

breakfast is not sufficient, quality of blankets is not very good. the window can’t isolate the noise outside, therefore it just like sleep on the street.

Location is perfect for Montjuic, La Rambla and Port Vell. Also the delightful neighbourhood of Poble-Sec starts just across the road, go for an evening walk up to the many restaurants, or up a little higher to the beginning of Montjuic park. Paral-lel metro station is very literally right outside the door, for Montjuic funicular and anywhere you don't wish to walk. Aircon stays on when you remove your door keycard, so your room is already cool when you come back. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Rooftop pool is small, more a plunge pool than swimming pool, but the views are stunning.

Unfortunately on the Wednesday during our stay, the rooftop pool was closed for maintenance all day. This was the day we'd decided to take it easy and lounge up top, have a read and swim. It would have been nice to have been told on the 1st day this was going to happen, or even on the Tuesday, and we could probably have worked around it. Even a sign stating it was all day that it was going to be closed would have been better than guessing and re-checking to see if it had re-opened. As the main reason I chose the hotel was the pool - I searched exclusively for hotels with rooftop pools - this was disappointing.

Lovely pool area. Loved how there were 2 different areas to sunbath away from the pool. The location was great and the aircon in the rooms were a saviour! Very clean and nice in lobby area which makes a great first impression.

The cleaning people were constantly knocking on the door. Our room didn’t get cleaned for 2 days. We had a chill afternoon and came back at 3pm and rooms weren’t cleaned. They kept knocking when we were in there and I opened the door many times saying please stop knocking we are in the room for the rest of today so it can’t be cleaned. Would be great if they did it when you went out. The knocking also woke up from from naps too which was annoying with jet lag

The staff is very friendly and helpful. We don't know any Spanish or Catalan, so communicating in English has no issue at all. The environment is clean and chill. The a/c worked really well, especially when the temperature reached 36℃, it will save your life. The location is great. You can take L3 to Camp Nou, Las Ramblas(Mercado de La Boqueria) or Passeig de Gràcia (for shopping, for Casa Batllo and La Pedrera-Casa Milà), or L2 to Sagrada Família. Very straightforward. The roof is a very nice place to go, for sunshine and to chill. The water pressure of the hand shower is good. The room was serviced on time. The under-counter fridge is a must-have for a warm day. We can use the radiator in the bathroom to dry our towels and washed clothes. There is a specific wash basin beside the toilet, if anyone requires it. The breakfast is great, we have plenty of choices. Most important, we would like to appreciate the staff there serving the meal. It is regretful for us not knowing the name of the female staff, she is really helpful. She answered every question we had as tourists, which could be silly in her eyes, and she might encounter the same questions many times in the past, but she treated them seriously, not impatient at all. And so do her colleagues there, we were treated as friends. Warm weather, and warm Spanish.

No mirror for dressing, except the one beyond the basin, you can only see your top half. The duvet is quite confusing, we got a blanket sandwiched between two sheets at first, not sure what to do with the sandwich, so we asked to change it. Then we got a duvet without a cover. Not sure if it is supposed to be like this in Spain. But we were expecting a duvet with a cover to use. The fitness centre is relatively small and the opening time doesn't suit us but may suit you. Opening from 8 am to 9:30 pm.

I had stayed at Hotel Barcelona Universal 5 years ago after a cruise. I really liked it then. Came back because we were doing another cruise and extended our stay in Barcelona. Our room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that the desk could use a mirror above it so I could use the outlet to blowdry my hair. I prefer my own blowdryer rather than one in any hotel. I had to do it blindly as there was no plug in the bathroom for me use (that blow dryer couldn't be unplugged). We loved the breakfast. The food was fresh and delicious.

The rooftop bar was never open during the 4 nights we had stayed there. The comment above about the mirror.

Breakfast was great! Very friendly staff. Metro 2 and 3 right outside, very close to the sea and Montjuic, neighbourhood between hotel en Rambla not the best, so no fun at night.

Wifi was ok, at some busy times during the day hard to get a good connection. One minor point: at check-in they told us we had a great room on the 9th floor. Room was spacious, but right next to the elevators, so you would always hear those in the background. Tip for other travellers: don't take rooms with 1 or 2 at the end.

The Staff at this Hotel are amazing, in particular Carlos and Vincent were very helpful and kind. A big thank you to them and the rest of the staff. You made my stay extra pleasant! The location to the subway is right next to the hotel and 2 stops away from Espana (a main hub) The Beds are extremely comfy, best I have used in a hotel The breakfast was great I did not tire from it even though I was there for 12 days

The cupboard doors were missing on my cupboard and the sink stopper was a bit iffy, the noise from the road also crept in due to a seal on the window being faulty, The hotel needs a few minor updates and a little maintenance here and there but really nothing I could call a deal breaker.

Hotel was very clean. Staff were very nice. Breakfast was lovely. Very central location.

There was a strong smell of sewage coming from the bathroom, this smell was outside on the street too so I don't think it was the hotels fault.

All staff we had contact with made you feel completly welcome and eager to help. Front of house Carlos went above and beyond in this regard. The 2 level Roof top with pool and bar was particularly good space to chill out on with plenty of semi private spaces to relax in. Oh and the 360 degree view gave you a great percpective of this great city. The metro right outside and less than a block away was a perfect launching pad to get about and see the city including only 2 trains directly to the airport.
