Hotel Maria Cristina, a Luxury Collection Hotel, San Sebastian

Gorgeous, historic property. The staff was very friendly, and helpful, and thoughtful with wine upon our arrival for our wedding anniversary. Concierge, even though helpful, fell a little short. Location was perfect. The room was very beautiful and comfortable.

As a gay couple, celebrating their wedding anniversary. We received a nice card to “Mr & Mrs” this was after much correspondence with the property prior to our arrival. I know this sounds trivial, as it has occurred at multiple properties. The property is gorgeous. But, no pool, no sauna. Also, housekeeping was very tight with their bathroom products. More English options on the television would have been nice as well.

The room was small - I think probably the least good of this type of room which was a disappointment. There is no spa or pool (I should have checked but assumed as 5 star there would be). They hyped up the breakfast which in reality was a big disappointment bit buffet and a la carte. WHen we went to the bar there was noone there to serve us and getting a drink proved a challenge. When we did get it service and drinks lovely

Gorgeous historic property located very close to the old city centre. Historic building where most celebrities stay. There was a Betty Davis suite on the floor we stayed at.

Fairly expensive. There is no tea or coffee facilities in the room (most standard hotels provide this for free).

Basically everything! Very welcoming from parking my hire car, checking-in, arranging restaurants, providing sightseeing tips, cocktails at the bar. It was two days of absolute pleasure. The room was huge, as was the bed and bathroom. All immaculately appointed.

I'm delighted to say that I don't think they could really improve on anything. Perhaps making an iron and ironing board standard in all rooms. I called for one and it was there in minutes, but I think everyone staying in a hotel comes with packed clothes that need a refresh press before wearing. But hardly an issue.

We loved the size of the rooms and the bed and towel linens. Shampoo was great too! Maid service was very reliable but when the sunlight hit our tv it was covered in dust and the room has serious mold to the point our children are congested and have sinus headaches. The rooms we had were not direct sunlight rooms so they suffered from humidity.

The breakfast should be included in the room rate. We go to our rooms through Amex and we did not have it and it is just too much 160E a day for just breakfast. Maybe an a la charge option?

As non-Spanish or Basque speakers, we were grateful that English language was used by the driver transporting us from the airport, on the front desk, and in the breakfast room. Hotel Maria Cristina is superbly located in San Sebastian. Free bottles of wine, Cava and the chocolates were a really nice touch. Breakfast was excellent and easily accommodated my needs for gluten-free items.

Everything was what I would hoped it would be for my family. We only wish we were staying for longer.

Bike rental service - amazing staff and service. Good concierge but variable based on who was on shift (see what didn’t like below)

Gym was ok and of course no pool. Concierge restaurant recommendations were hit and miss - hit was we were able to book Akellare on very short notice! Also they provided a map of the best tapas bars and this was amazing. Miss was final night reservation at what felt like an American diner.
