Silken Gran hotel Durango

In thThis was a lovely hotel Doesn't have a lot of grounds to it Everything is towards the front of the hotel The room was really nice and the beds were very comfortable but it could have had some bottled water and glasses 🥂 in the room The reception staff and restaurant staff were all very pleasant and extremely helpful, it had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable, The town is beautiful and vibrant, very lively Everything is reasonably priced with lots of lovely shops for the ladies 😉 😊 The train and bus station are all around 10 minutes walking from the hotel and travel is very reasonable in price The hotel is about 35 minutes drive from Bilbao and around 40 minutes drive from the airport .

There could have been more menu choices For evening meals After 2 evening meals we had had enough and We couldn't find restaurants in the town to have a full meal and more choices every where in the town it was small cafes for snacks Also when we were there on the Saturday there was a wedding taking place We were not told about this in advance It was a scorching day 40degress heat and one member of the reception staff told us we couldn't get any drinks or food Because it was for the wedding party not even bottled water 😒 🙄 After about 35 minutes another member of staff came on shift and when we asked her the same thing there wasn't a problem We got drinks and some thing to eat 😋

Pool & outdoor area lovely; free on street parking; clean comfortable rooms; we used the spa on a grey day & it was a real treat; efficient reception staff; Durango the town was a lovely surprise, we enjoyed exploring it.

Whilst the hotel had a bar, we found it v difficult to get service in afternoon / evening as staff were occupied with restaurant diners & paid little attention to residents. We thought the nearby natural park might offer walking but found very little, despite driving into mountains.

This is a stunning hotel with great space and facilities. It was our second stay here and again our room was spacious and extremely comfortable. Staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The location is good, just on the edge of the old town so it is very quiet yet within easy walking distance of many bars and restaurants. We did not eat in the hotel simply because the pinxtos in the old town are so good and such good value. The staff also provided a secure indoor space to keep our bikes overnight. A lovely hotel which we hope to revisit.

WiFi in our room (room 119) was the worst we have experienced anywhere in four weeks of travelling. The connection was very hit and miss to start with, once connected it was very slow and frequently dropped out. It seems perfectly fine if you use it in the lounge/bar/public areas, but in the room it was almost unusable. Having said all that, it really is a fabulous hotel otherwise and we would not hesitate to stay here again

Nice welcoming staff, beautiful building very well maintained, vast bed in our room which also had a very modern and well equipped en-suite, even including a full bath. Also, the room had air on. It was all very very comfortable. I even managed to take advantage of the outdoor pool. We did not eat in the hotel, as it is very close to all the bars in town where we were able to indulge our love of pinxtos. Similarly we did not breakfast at the hotel, but again went in to town to a cafe for breakfast. However, the Silken Gran experience was so good I re-booked to visit again in two weeks time. That probably tells you all you need to know. Frankly I don’t think I have had better hotel value anywhere.

Nothing really, although we did have to negotiate some steps to get in with our bikes. (I believe there is step free access via a lift from the garage) On the positive side, our two bikes were given a secure room by reception to themselves for the night.

We had been experiencing car trouble shortly before we arrived, due to which we had to take a taxi and came in with loads of luggage. The lady at the reception was very helpful throughout our stay, not just with storing our luggage on our departure day, but also with finding transportation for us so we could still make our booking at the Guggenheim in Bilbao. Thank you so much for that! Also great breakfast and swimming pool!

One of the rooms had a malfunctioning air conditioning and the other room smelled of smoke when we arrived. Although, again, the staff was very helpful spraying the rooms, it might be an idea to prohibit smoking altogether. Dinner menu did not offer much choice anymore when we came in, even though it was still early. Also, our meals were taken down incorrectly and consequently not served simultaneously. It was OK but not great.

A very comfortable 4* hotel. The staff are kind, helpful and considerate. The hotel is lovely and comfortable. The pool is amazing. We didn't try the spa or gym but I feel that they would have been superb as well. The hotel was picturesque but with all modern requirements. Situated in the middle of Durango, it is well positioned to explore the town on foot and is also minutes to a beach by car.

nice room, nice restaurant

on check in was asked for my mail adres, i declined and offered my credit card, this was declined they needed my mail adress so i could have the extras approved. I told them they could contact me via booking.com and would not give them my mail adres. in the end i had to pay for each item immediately. i parked the car and needed to pay the amount immediately. very strange policy, if this remains i would never return there.

Everything was great..

One intern at restaurant was very rude, his behavior was very inappropriate so i left and i ordered the lunch to my room…apart from this moment all was fine

Nice beds, clean and nice gym (5 euro extra). Swimming pool also very nice

A very nice hotel, but in a bit remotely place. All was very well organized, but as I was travel teenagers, maybe a bit too organized. Room for three was good, diner in hotel was a bit too good for teenagers 😉 and no options to downscale. Swimming pool was nice, but shortage in sun beds

Beautiful hotel with lovely spa facilities. fine dining style restaurant and a nice bar.A short walk away from the train station. The staff in all areas are so warm , friendly and highly professional- The true stars of the show.

bathrooms could be modernised, for a junior suite I would have liked nicer furniture in room as it was rather basic.
