It was lovely to stay in such an old building, well preserved. The hotel was well placed for the railway station.
The antiquity extended to the chairs, none of which were comfortable. The restaurant was understaffed with one person dealing with drinks and meals, and even she disappeared for a long time, so the meal was very slow.

The breakfast was excellent. However, as I hadnt paid for it in advance, when I tried to pay on leaving, the staff seemed confused about how to handle. They were very easy to work with and I thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
Tried to find a grocery nearby and I couldn’t.

Although the "medieval knights" theme was a bit over the top, the hotel provided everything we needed in the way of clean and comfortable beds for the night. Location near the railway station was good (we had an early train to catch in the morning), and it was an easy walk to the historic centre of Ponferrada.

Close to the castle. Kind staff.
Don’t believe the pictures. It’s not a castle but an old tower house that’s decorated like a castle. The hotel is surrounded with other grey tower houses. The furniture is old, the bathroom is from the 80’s.

I booked a twin bed but ended up with a queen bed in a large room. It was a very good sized room compared to the other hotels I’ve stayed in Spain. The bathroom is large, modern, updated, and has a tub.
It is a 10 minute (1km) walk from the center (the castle). The hotel has an intentional medieval/old timey feel, which is not my vibe but it could be kind of cool if it’s yours

Loved the quirky old world charm (but this is not a euphemism for old and worn out!). Lots of character. Bonus was the Tesla Destination charger in the secure (but paid) basement garage. Excellent covid management.
Possibly it was because of covid/low occupancy but the dinner offering was below standard in terms of choice availability.
