Amazing hotel - beautiful historic building!! Location was incredible - Santillana Del Mar is beyond beautiful. Amazing old buildings and cobbled streets. Took so many photographs! Loads of nice bars and restaurants very close by, so we were spoilt for choice in the evenings. Everywhere in town is within walking distance from the hotel.

Nothing - we loved it. There is no parking at the hotel, but that wasn't really a problem. We parked outside the hotel temporarily to check in and leave our bags, and then moved the car to the main town car park (a few euros a day) which was only a five minute walk away. Plenty of spaces always available when we were there (but that was October and I guess it might be much busier in the summer).

Well situated classic hotel. Nice communal areas and large ventilated rooms.

Underwhelming room furniture. Unsecured headboard so it moved and made noice every time you move in bed. We could have used a desk and chair. TV was size A4, so it’s useless but has a VERY bright red light that is on the whole time. Quite annoying in the night. The breakfast was terrible. Burnt coffee, slightly dry bread and pastries and all on the sweet side. Would have loved the simple continental with local butter or marmalade. Instead, they have extra sweet individually packed cheap butter jam/marmalade. An unsightly and unsustainable option which contrasts with the lovely atmosphere of the Hotel.

Beautiful period building right in the centre of the old town. The common areas and the bedrooms are decorated in keeping with the age of the building and what they would have been like. People have been negative about the noise from the street but again this is exactly what it would have been like …the hustle and bustle of daily town life. The bed was comfortable and the heaters came On each evening and morning when it was cold. The location was excellent and a good breakfast.

We requested rooms close to each other as we were travelling with our teenage granddaughters. The rooms we were given could not have been better - next door to each other! Hotel Altamira is in a wonderful location - a 17th century palace bang in the centre of this delightful pedestrianised village. We all very much enjoyed eating dinner in the terrace garden - a violinist was playing in the square just yards away so wonderfully atmospheric. Although limited, the dinner menu was perfect for our little group. We were also able to enjoy a more than adequate breakfast in the garden.

Nothing. NOTE - this is a small but very popular pedestrianised village. There isn't a car park on site. However, you can drive to the hotel (avoiding other tourists) to unload your luggage and park some 200 metres away at a cost of Euros 4 for 24 hours.

breakfast is served in a gorgeous courtyard at the back of hotel where a copious buffet is available. Staff are prompt, friendly and hotel is very quietly despite being right in the center of the village (the whole village is pedestrian and made of cobbled street - just glorious. parking is very near and 4 euros for 24h. Entering the hotel is like setting foot in a 16th century mansion, just beautiful

There no air conditioning.

We wanted to stay in an old building and Hotel Altamira delivered! Our room was huge with plenty of places to put suitcases, hang up clothes, spread out papers etc. We loved the big bathroom and bidet. And the old wooden floors. All spotlessly clean. The buffet-style breakfast was good. And the location was very quiet at night.

The hotel is musty smelling (though we did not notice this in our room). And sound travels in this building.

The hotel is a very old building and the owners have kept it that way. Tons of character. Right on the main street with lots of restaurants around. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Because the hotel is old, you hear your neighbors, and doors are sometimes hard to close, ie more noise. The towels were thin. It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator in the room. There was street noise.

The location in the town was great, with the parking and drop off of luggage’s figured out, the staff was all incredibly nice and accommodating

Given that it is an old palace building that has be restored for this purpose, it is old and our room had a bad sewer smell, out of the control of the property but once we mentioned it they changed us to another room immediately

Situated in a lovely little historic town, car park only a short distance away to walk to and from, lots of restaurants near by. Hotel is situated on the main street and well kept and looks quite historic with all the stair cases and landings. Breakfasts were traditional and plenty of it.

room was quite basic, tv mini fridge and shower room but more than adequate.

The hotel is in an old building. Everything is perfectly clean, old furniture, some old clocks and irons…The room was very spacious and the breakfast….THE BEST! Real food perfectly presented. Service very attentive, spoke good English, very flexible and helpful!!

I liked it enough that I will be back. Now this place will be MY place in Santillana del Mar.
