Hotel Conde Ansúrez

A good location for car travellers. Friendly staff. Spacious room with a big bathroom. Clean. There is a restaurant at the hotel.

My room was 119 and wallpaper seams were nasty. They were taped at some point and the tape was later ripped off leaving a glue trace. Also, I had hard time finding a socket as they were completely hidden behind heavy bedside tables. I could only unplug a lamp at the table and use it's socket. So that was only one usable socket for a room for two people which is not enough.

WE returned to this Hotel after our trip to Portugal. On the returne trip we decided up grade our room .Well worth the extra money. Food in the restaurant was good Spanish food, Because we speak little Spanish a few problems to start with but sorted it without any problems. Staff were great and put themselves out to help us. A great midway stop from Santander Ferry port to Portugal.

Nothing could not be better

We chose this hotel because it was not far off our route from Portugal to France, and had plenty of free parking right outside, and with a minibus and trailer, that was an important consideration. Everything was very clean. Staff were helpful, but only the man on reception spoke English. We managed to communicate with the bar/restaurant staff with a mixture of simple Spanish words and pointing at pictures. It turned out to be quite an amusing experience. Surprisingly, they managed to provide me with gluten-free bread for both dinner and breakfast. There were about 8 choices for dinner, and although the food was basic, it was good and freshly prepared. I'd read reviews saying that the only option for breakfast was a pastry and coffee, but that wasn't the case. They had a menu card with pictures, and half a dozen or so options.

If I booked again, I'd ask for a non-smoking room. Someone had been smoking in our room and it had a slight smell, but it wasn't bad enough to ask to be moved.

The location is not the best and you need a car to go to the center, but the room is nice, and the heating was perfect. And the team of the reception was super kind! Everything was great.

Old glamour, easy access even though is in the industrial zone

The bed gave me a bad ache, pillows were nice but the mattress wasn’t. It was clean though

Good comfortable bed in an air-conditioned room very close to the motorway. Everything very clean and functional. Small fridge in the room which was very useful.

The breakfast was quite basic with only the choice of a croissant or pain au raisin; no bread or toast. The only other things were a small pack of industrial butter and 2 mini jams each. It would have been nice to have had the choice of something savoury or at a piece of fruit as there is so much of it around in Spain at this time of year. The orange juice, however, was very nice - freshly squeezed and very tasty. We had booked to have a meal in the restaurant on the evening of our arrival and this was very good and came with a lovely, fresh salad. The bread rolls that accompanied it were not good, looking plastic-like on the outside with an almost impermeable crust, and pappy on the inside.

The bartender in the cafeteria isn’t so friendly and unfortunately that’s the down side

Right off the motorway and ideal for travelling to and from Bilbao or Santander as just off the motorway. The hotel is spotlessly clean , reasonably priced and has a great terrace. Service is very good and reception staff are very friendly. Cannot fault it.
